The dieline files are marked withthe letters DL, and those areused to cut the fabric to theproper shape and size.

Open the DL/dieline files withembroidery software, and printthem. If you do not haveembroidery software, Wilcom'sTrueSizer is a free program.

Spray a piece of cutawaystabilizer with temporaryadhesive, like Gunold's KK100.

Place solid-colored fabric for thefront of the case on top of thestabilizer.

Spray the back of the printeddielines with temporary adhesive, and smooth those on top of thefabric.

Cut out the shapes.

To prepare the fabric for the backof the scissor case, cut twopieces of print fabric. Spray thewrong sides with temporaryadhesive.

Cut a piece of the lightweightbatting to the size of the fabricpieces. Layer the battingbetween the two pieces of fabric.

Spray the backside of the backdieline with temporary adhesiveand smooth it on top of the fabric.

Cut out the shape.

Next, prepare the type of closurethat you'd like.

If you'd like a ribbon closure, which is tied into a bow, cut an18" of 5/8" wide ribbon.

Mark the center by measuring in9" from either end.

If you'd like a vinyl closure whichsnaps, cut a piece of vinyl to 5/8"x 4 3/4".

Mark the center of the wrong sideby measuring in 2 3/8" fromeither end.

Now that all the pieces are cutand ready, it's time to make thecase.

Hoop a piece of tear-awaystabilizer.

Note: When choosing tear-awaystabilizer, choose stabilizer that issoft and fibrous. Steer clear oftear-away stabilizer that's stiff orfeels too much like paper, asthose will not yield good results.

Attach the hoop to the machineand load the full embroiderydesign (not the DL files).

Embroider the design. The firstthing to embroider will be anoutline for the front fabric piece.

Note: Use a size 11 or 75/11sharp sewing needle, not anembroidery needle. A sewingneedle has a smaller, finer pointthan an embroidery needle, andthat will make smaller, finerperforations in the stabilizer.

Spray the backside of one of thefront fabric pieces with temporaryadhesive.

Lay the fabric piece right insidethe stitched shape. Continueembroidering the design.

A tack down stitch will sew next. This binds the fabric to thestabilizer for the remainder of thedesign.

Next, the inside elements of thedesign will sew.

As you embroider, use the colorchange sheet as your guide.

Watch for a note on the colorchange sheet marked "front pieceedge." When you reach this step, stop the machine. Remove thehoop from the machine.

Spray the backside of theremaining front fabric piece withadhesive.

Place the fabric piece on theback of the embroidery, insidethe front dieline shape.

Since the remaining steps will beseen from both sides, wind abobbin with the same thread thatyou're using in the needle.

Attach the hoop back to themachine and continueembroidering the design. Thefront piece top edge will sewnext.

Next will be the back piecedieline.

After the back piece dieline hassewn, spray the top edge, sidecorners, and bottom point withjust a quick shot of temporaryadhesive.

Place the back piece fabric rightinside the dieline shape.

Continue embroidering thedesign. Tack down stitches willsew next around the entire outeredge of the back fabric piece. Also, a finishing satin stitchborder will sew around the topedge.

Next, the dieline for the strap willsew. Shown here in pink, thisdieline indicates where you canlay the ribbon or vinyl.

After the strap dieline has sewn, remove the hoop from themachine.

If you are using ribbon for aclosure, spray the backside of theribbon with adhesive behind thecenter mark. Align the mark onthe ribbon with the dieline on thefabric, and press the ribbon inplace.

Position the ribbon parallel withthe top edge of the case. Also, allow the sides of the ribbon tohang over the sides of the hoop.

f you are using a vinyl strap for aclosure, spray the right side ofthe vinyl behind the mark. Alignthe mark with the dieline on thefabric and press in place.

Position the strap parallel withthe top edge of the case.

Attach the hoop to the machineand continue embroidering thedesign. Tack down stitches willsew next, and those stitches bindthe ribbon or vinyl to the case.

Then, add the inner side of thesnap to the other end.

Insert the scissors. Wrap theends of the straps through thehandles, and snap together.

For the ribbon closure, insert thescissors, wrap the ends of theribbon through the handles, andtie them into a bow.
