Cheryl has over 25 years of business administration experience. Her past employment was at Household International, Hewitt Associates, Take Out Taxi, Executive Environments and for the past six years, the Palatine Area Chamber of Commerce. Cheryl enjoyed meeting many business owners and showing them how the Chamber of Commerce can connect them to other business owners and the community. She believes when you become an active Chamber member, you are opening your door to an infinite number of business and community connections that will help your business grow.

When Cheryl is not helping her Chamber members, you will find her tending her flower and vegetable gardens, trying out a new recipe or exercising at the HEPD's Total Fitness class. She is married, has two grown sons and has lived in Hoffman Estates for 29 years.

Sears Holdings Corporation Sears Hometown and Outlet stores is rebranding three Illinois stores to focus more on appliance sales. The stores are located in Flora, Olney and Vandalia. The stores will offer a new product assortment, redesigned merchandising, new fixtures and signage and comprehensive employee training. In the new store design, appliances will occupy more than half the sales floor and will feature value-added products from Kenmore, Whirlpool, Maytag, Kitchen Aid, and Samsung. The company, which was spun off as a separate company from Sears Holdings Corp in 2012, now has more than 480 locations nationwide. As Election Day draws near, voters will seek information about how to vote and where the polling locations are in their community.

31% of employees surveyed ranked their current or former employer as the most credible source for information on political and public policy issues. To top that off, for employees who heard from their employer during the 2015 Midterm Election, 63% of them were motivated to learn more about the issues that were important to their employer and/or 43% were motivated to register to vote.

Together, we can turn out the vote and make an impact this election year!

The first Buona Beef opened in Berwyn over thirty years ago. Patriarch Joe Buonavolanto Senior took a second mortgage on his home to fund it, and dug the foundation for the restaurant himself. The original Italian beef recipe was concocted by Joe’s wife Peggy, with the help of their Uncle ‘Junior’, proprietor of Chicago’s iconic Mr. Beef. Tollway Construction Update

1. I-90 – mainline widening and reconstruction – complete by the end of 2016 2. I-90 SMART corridor –overhead electronic display signs are being installed; many of the sign gan-tries are in place and will be placed about every half mile. Each lane will have an overhead sign display which the TW can use to communicate to drivers if a lane is open or closed, if traffic should merge right or left, etc. Text display boards are also included with each gantry to provide descriptive info – travel times, construction or crashes ahead, etc. An electronic sign over the left shoulder will be used to indicate to Pace divers if the shoulder can be used for bus travel. The TW will test this system through mid-2017 be-fore fully activating. 3. Barrington Road bridge – complete 4. Interchange ramps to and from the east – both the westbound exit and eastbound entrance ramps (the eastern half of the SPUI interchange) are expected to be open to traffic by late October. Opening the new eastbound entrance ramp will allow the TW to close the existing southbound to eastbound loop en-trance ramp, in turn allowing work to be done for the new eastbound exit. 5. Interchange ramps to and from the west – the new westbound entrance is expected to be complete by the end of 2016. The new eastbound exit ramp will not be open until next spring. Delays are due to util-ity work, mainline construction, and removal of the existing loop ramp. 6. Greenspoint Parkway – work will be complete in spring 2017 7. Traffic signal at the SPUI – temporary signal heads are going up now to allow for opening the new eastbound entrance and westbound exit. Permanent signal work is expected to be complete by the end of 2016. 8. Barrington Road widening and reconstruction – all pavement will be complete by the end of 2016 9. Sidewalk and bike path on Barrington Road – all complete by the end of 2016 with the exception of the southwest quadrant where the new eastbound exit ramp won’t be complete until spring 2017 10. Plote temporary concrete batch plant in northeast quadrant – current TW plan is to remove it by the end of 2016 11. Pace Park & Ride (northeast quadrant) – complete by summer 2017. New Toll Rate information – tolls will be collected on all 4 ramps at Barrington Road. The rate for pas-senger cars will be $0.45 for IPASS, $0.90 for passenger cars paying cash. This is the same rate as the existing toll on the westbound Barrington Rd exit. Truck rates are multiples higher than passenger cars as is the case throughout the TW system. Tolls will be collected only with IPASS for the new ramps to and from the west. The ramps to and from the east will have IPASS and a coin basket lane. Since the east-bound exit won’t be open until next year, the TW does not plan to start collecting tolls on the eastbound en-trance until next year too. The westbound exit and entrance toll collection will start when those ramps open. The Tollway is putting out message boards as part of their communications plan to advise motorists of the new tolls.

Tax Tips: 2016-2017 Special Per Diem Rates (Notice 2016-58)

SECTION 1. PURPOSE This annual notice provides the 2016-2017 special per diem rates for taxpayers to use in substantiating the amount of ordinary and necessary business expenses incurred while traveling away from home, specifically (1) the special transportation industry meal and incidental expenses (M&IE) rates, (2) the rate for the incidental expenses only deduction, and (3) the rates and list of high-cost localities for purposes of the high-low substantiation method. SECTION 2. BACKGROUND Rev. Proc. 2011-47, 2011-42 I.R.B. 520, provides rules for using a per diem rate to substantiate, under § 274(d) of the Internal Revenue Code and § 1.274-5 of the Income Tax Regulations, the amount of ordinary and necessary business expenses paid or incurred while traveling away from home. Taxpayers using the rates and list of high-cost localities provided in this notice must comply with Rev. Proc. 2011-47. Notice 2015-63, 2015-42 I.R.B. 723, provides the rates and list of high-cost localities for the period October 1, 2015, to September 30, 2016. Section 3.02(3) of Rev. Proc. 2011-47 provides that the term “incidental expenses” has the same meaning as in the Federal Travel Regulations, 41 C.F.R. 3003.1, and that future changes to the definition of incidental expenses in the Federal Travel Regulations would be announced in the annual per diem notice. Subsequent to the publication of Rev. Proc. 2011-47, the General Services Administration published final regulations revising the definition of incidental expenses under the Federal Travel Regulations to include only fees and tips given to porters, baggage carriers, hotel staff, and staff on ships. Transportation between places of lodging or business and places where meals are taken, and the mailing cost of filing travel vouchers and paying employer-sponsored charge card billings, are no longer included in incidental expenses. Accordingly, taxpayers using the per diem rates may separately deduct or be reimbursed for transportation and mailing expenses. SECTION 3. SPECIAL M&IE RATES FOR TRANSPORTATION INDUSTRY The special M&IE rates for taxpayers in the transportation industry are $63 for any locality of travel in the continental United States (CONUS) and $68 for any locality of travel outside the continental United States (OCONUS). See section 4.04 of Rev. Proc. 2011-47. SECTION 4. RATE FOR INCIDENTAL EXPENSES ONLY DEDUCTION The rate for any CONUS or OCONUS locality of travel for the incidental expenses only deduction is $5 per day. See section 4.05 of Rev. Proc. 2011-47. SECTION 5. HIGH-LOW SUBSTANTIATION METHOD 1. Annual high-low rates. For purposes of the high-low substantiation method, the per diem rates in lieu of the rates described in Notice 2015-63 (the per diem substantiation method) are $282 for travel to any high-cost locality and $189 for travel to any other locality within CONUS. The amount of the $282 high rate and $189 low rate that is treated as paid for meals for purposes of § 274(n) is $68 for travel to any highcost locality and $57 for travel to any other locality within CONUS. See section 5.02 of Rev. Proc. 2011-47. The per diem rates in lieu of the rates described in Notice 2015-63 (the meal and incidental expenses only substantiation method) are $68 for travel to any high-cost locality and $57 for travel to any other locality within CONUS. 2. High-cost localities. The following localities have a federal per diem rate of $236 or more, and are high-cost localities for all of the calendar year or the portion of the calendar year specified in parentheses under the key city name.

The following localities have changed the portion of the year in which they are high-cost localities: Denver/Aurora, Colorado; Vail, Colorado; Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Naples, Florida; Chicago, Illinois; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Jamestown/Middletown/Newport, Rhode Island; Jackson/Pinedale, Wyoming. c. The following localities have been removed from the list of high-cost localities: Mammoth Lakes, California; Midland, Texas. SECTION 6. EFFECTIVE DATE This notice is effective for per diem allowances for lodging, meal, and incidental expenses, or for meal and incidental expenses only, that are paid to any employee on or after October 1, 2016, for travel away from home on or after October 1, 2016. For purposes of computing the amount allowable as a deduction for travel away from home, this notice is effective for meal and incidental expenses or for incidental expenses only paid or incurred on or after October 1, 2016. See sections 4.06 and 5.04 of Rev. Proc. 2011-47 for transition rules for the last 3 months of calendar year 2016. SECTION 7. EFFECT ON OTHER DOCUMENTS Notice 2015-63 is superseded.
