Listening to Residents and Fighting Anti-Social Behaviour

While Canvassing Andrew became aware of a problem with the Antisocial use of Motorcycles

riding up the new pathway that replaced the old Donkey Track that runs at the back of the

Houses on Heathy Lane, and Round Hill, to gain access to the school base. Andrew brought

this to the attention of Trinity Academy and then Carillion who have agreed to fit bollards at

the Heathy Lane end in early Spring. Andrew would like to thank both the Academy and

Carillion for being so co-operative in resolving this mater.

Why Waste Funds on a Library when there is so much

else that needs doing.

At times such as these its imperative you re-evaluate all schemes to see what real

social benefits there are. How can the council justify spending millions on a new

library project when there are serious issues the public wishes to be addressed

such as child protection, road safety, crumbling swimming pools, decaying parks

and sport facilities. It seems that senior council officers are solely focused on

grandiose schemes rather than on the more important less prestigious day to day

running of council services and cost effectiveness. The days of endless increasing

streams of public money are over, and as such we need to learn to repair and

make do with existing facilities and focus on services that really matter not what is

fissionable to the Guardian reading classes.

Saturday Bus Service under Threat

Local residents of Round Hill Holmfield have learned TJ Walsh intend stopping the number

700 bus on Saturdays for predominantly economic reasons. The bus serves the retired people

of Mozeley drive, Whitehill Road, & Round Hill area. It is the only link retired people have for

visits to the Doctors, Morrisons, Supermarket and the Town Centre. The nearest bus service

is halfway on School Lane which requires a walk up a steep hill for the residents. Andrew has

arranged a petition which has been handed into TJ Walsh showing large support to retain thisservice. Andrew at Cabinet has asked Cllr Collins to look into the situation. Andrew stated

that this service is crucial for the retired people of the area and as such should be seen as a

crucial service and if not viable the Transport Authority should make available.
