CriticalIncident:Anincidentinwhichthereisahighlikelihoodoftraumaticeffects,evokingunusualorunexpectedlystrongemotionalreactions,whichhavethepotentialtointerferewiththeabilityoftheindividual,grouporschoolorsystemtofunctioneitheratthetimeorlater.Suchincidentsmayincludeanaccidentcausingdeathorseriousinjury,suicide,amajorbushfire,drugrelatedincidents,seriousmedicalorhealthemergency,useofweaponsonsite,threatsoforactualphysicalviolence.Acriticalincidentwillofteninvolverapidtimesequences,attractmediaattention,andrequireinterventionsfromDoETandinteragencypartnersinordertoachievearecoverytonormaloperations.IncidentManager:Thepersonresponsiblefortheoverallcontrolofanemergencyorcriticalincident,usuallyprincipallsitemanagerordelegate.
