Income Generating Programme for Women with PWD and Education for
children with ID

PWD / PWID
It was not accepted good if a disable child was born. It was due to superstition.
So a disable child was kept at house. Nepal Disable Welfare Act, 1986 was first formed for the disabled in Nepal. Disabile law -2017 According to the topography of Nepal, many of PWD/ PWID live in mountains and hills area which makes them difficult to get educated and involved in income generation activities.
4 types of Disable Identity Card
Red for A, : Severe PWID They get Nrs. 2000. per month
Blue for B : Moderate , blind , wheel chair user
Yellow for C who have no 1 leg, one hand.
Low vision , using artificial leg and hand
White for ordinary disables those who have no index finger,
thumb, both thumb and index finger and are crippled and lame
513,994 total beneficiaries person with disabilities (census 2011)

Target Area
• Putalibazar municipality , ward no. 2
• Area :147.21sq.km.
• total ward :14
• population :44,876
• women cooperative institution :7
• women group : 502
each group 4-7 women (monthly meeting problem, they make plans to solve problems, saving credit)

Target group
• 20 Children with PWID in Putalibazar municipality (poorest children , age 6-12 years of age)
• 20 PWD women who are above 20 years
(poorest, no family to take care of them, single women)
Project period
• 1 year ( 2018 April to 2019 March)
Strategy 1. Education for CWID
• Teachers' training (20) selected 1 teacher from E. school • Home visit to 10 CWID , once a week , trained
teacher visit CWID who can't go to school • Parent's awareness - district WCO, gives them
lecture on education • Awareness meeting teacher and local government , NGOs , Women health volunteer, stake holder
2. Income generating Women with PWD
Targeted women selected by W.CO.I
• Skill development training 7 days (crystal bracelet, necklace, cancer bracelet in stone connection)
• Financial support for entrepreneurship - provides Nrs. 3,500. 00 to start self employment
• Firm registration at the Office of Cottage and Small Industries
• If they want to start their own shop, they get support by their cooperative organization

Risk - Solution
• Lack of awareness PWID's parents
• Problem for budget

• Coordination with DCC , municipality, ministry of Women, Children and Social Welfare
• So it needs practice regularly
Monitoring/ Evaluation • Monitoring : formation of monitoring committee,
home visit , visiting their monthly meeting • Monitoring to each programme & submit
monitoring report ,dispatch report to the Ministry, municipality, JICA
• Evaluation : Pre & post evaluation to the project will be done by 3 persons teem( 1 from DCC, 1 from municipality and 1 from DPO)
• Indicator :- Number of CWID in education Number of Women with PWD in Income generating
Documentation
• All activities are recorded by the institution, focal person, training coordinator ,in-charge
• Record will monthly submitted to in-charge
• All activities will be broadcasting by local FM, News paper
• Progress report dispatch to relevant Ministry, Municipality , JICA in Nepal.
