What is Independence Day?• Independence Day, also known as the Fourth of July, is

a federal holiday commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, declaring independence from the Kingdom of Great Britain.

• Independence Day is marked by patriotic displays such as American Flags and red, white, and blue decorations.

• Independence Day celebrations often take place outdoors.

Independence Day fireworks can be seen at night in most cities. Patriotic songs such as the national anthem “The Star-Spangled Banner” can be heard.
