Poems by Students

All I Saw Was Rain When I looked out of the window pane, I saw nothing but rain. Rainfall covered the entire ground, And by then the poor grasshoppers must have drowned. I prayed to the lord, o please !! let it be sunny, I even tried to bribe him with a penny. But it was all in vain, As I saw nothing but rain. Soon, two hours passed, But yet the rain did outlast. I began to wonder when will this rain subside ? and when again the ground shall be dried ? At last my prayers were heard, The rain clouds began to get blurred. all the rainwater flowed down the flooded drain, the weather turned sunny again.

O Teasing Clouds !!!

Scorching heat is lessened: & the sweet breeze is on… Thanks to the breeze; That brought you O Clouds !!! You are here, but our lust is still on ; & our throats still dry … Please, O please, O Teasing Clouds ; Pour down on us the rain you hold. Peacocks in my backyard ; Gaze at you with hopeful eyes … Their wings spread wide & echo so loud ; Call you to rain & complete their dance. The breeze that brought you ; Is very naughty indeed … Many a time she blew you away ; After giving us pretty dreams !!! The swaying trees & ; Plants with yellowed leaves … Cry out to you to save them from fiery Sun ; & drench them back to youthful green !!! Old granny sitting on the Settee ; Has got all the ingredients ready … One pour from you will get us ; Hot delicacies to tempt our tummy !!! Think of me O Bubbly Clouds ; My vacation ends in the days to come … Shower now to ensure more fun ; Before I return to my daily school !!!

To keep the spirit of festivals alive in our hearts, Middle Block celebrated Janmashtami with magnificence and grandeur. The event was a small attempt to give a glimpse of the various phases of life of Lord Krishna and enlighten the students with our rich and vibrant cultural heritage. Dr. R.L. Mathur, Principal, Lachoo Memorial College and Mr. M.M. Mathur, Ex-Chairman, Rajasthan Sangeet Natak Academy graced the occa-sion with their benign presence. The programme commenced with the panoramic depiction of all the phases of Lord Krishna’s life, right from his birth, to infancy and to his eventful youth. The important aspects of Lord Krishna's life, like ‘Devki Vidai and Jail scene’, ‘Janm Mahotsava’, ‘Virat Roop’ were show-cased by the students with full vigour and enthusiasm. The festivity around was further enhanced by the ‘Raas Dance’ related to mythology and culture, performed by the students in their colourful attires with perfect tone and rhythm. The Chief Guest was elated by the marvellous performances of the promising students and complimented them.

August is the month of festivals. Festive season was in the air at DPS, Jodhpur. Raksha Bandhan, Independence Day and Janamashtami were celebrated in the school to propagate the cultural heritage of India. Special assemblies and various fun filled class activities were conducted based on various themes to make the children understand the concepts behind these celebrations and to develop their creativity.

To generate interest and awareness regard-ing healthy food amongst children, an interest-ing activity Fun and Food for classes Nur - Prep was organized wherein various food items like green vegetables, fruits, milk products, pulses etc. were displayed attrac-tively and were segregated as body building, energy giving and protective food. Simultane-ously, it was stated that eating them regularly is vital for our growth and making our body strong. Along with this, they were also shown how we get very delicious products like butter, cheese, curd etc. from milk. Children also made their own sandwiches and healthy chaat. Desired table manners were taught to the chil-dren which they all should follow. Instant recognition was witnessed amongst the kids which energized them to follow and believe avoiding junk food and eating more of healthy food.
