You are not given opportunities; you find them or you create them. Alltech was built on the opportunity to make a difference on the farm by delivering yeast-derived solutions to improve animal health and performance. Today we are proud to be the world’s largest producer and processor of yeast and organic trace minerals.

Our future will continue to be built on opportunities. What are those opportunities? Algae are an example. We have one of the world’s largest commercial algae facilities dedicated to animal nutrition. With it, we are focusing on a one million ton fish oil market that is in crisis. We need an alternative to fish oil, and we have a solution in algae. Through our algae, we can completely replace fish oil in salmon diets and do so in a way that is purer and more traceable. By incorporating algae into our animal diets, we can also provide a more nutritious egg or deliver a burger that helps meet the daily human requirement of DHA omega-3, essential to proper development and cognitive health at all stages of life.

It’s staggering when we look to our crop science technologies as well. The race is on to find alternatives to pesticides, and we believe we have a storehouse of viable alternatives. For 20 years we’ve been improving the productivity of the field, not only in

terms of quantity of yield but quality. Crop technologies are an integral part of how we enhance nutrition from seed to feed to food.

2014 was a year of focus for us in which we celebrated reaching $1 billion in sales. Why have we have been successful? We’re connecting with farmers and connecting those farmers to our technologies. We’re listening to our customers on the farm and in the field, and we are guided by science to deliver tailored solutions.

For the team at Alltech, our daily work is not a job; it’s an adventure fueled by passion. We see a world of opportunities—I hope you enjoy this look into that world.

Kind regards,

Pearse Lyons, Ph.D. President and founder of Alltech

Founded in 1980 by Irish biochemist and entrepreneur Dr. Pearse Lyons, Alltech is a leading global biotechnology company whose mission is to improve the health and performance of people, animals and plants through natural nutrition and scientific innovation. We pursue this mission guided by what we call the ACE principle, our promise that in doing business we have a positive impact on the Animal, the Consumer and the Environment.

Our core business improves animal health and performance by adding nutritional value to feed, naturally, through Alltech’s innovative use of yeast fermentation, enzyme technology, algae and nutrigenomics, which studies the impact of nutrition at the genetic level. Our technologies and support programs enable farmers to realize greater efficiency, profitability and sustainability on their farms.

Our Alltech Crop Science division complements our animal nutrition business by focusing on improving the health of crops. Our technologies enable us to improve the productivity of the field, in terms of yield quality and quantity, and to enhance nutrition beginning with the soil and the seed.

We believe scientific innovation in animal and crop sciences is

part of a much more important story, that of human health. Healthier animals and crops, nurtured naturally through Alltech’s nutritional solutions, affect human well-being. For example, fruits, vegetables and animal proteins have become less nutrient-rich in the past half-century. From fish to oranges, you need to eat more today to get the same nutritional value. Our work within animal and crop sciences is restoring value and also exploring ways to naturally enrich foods through improving the animal diet or crop produced. For example, laying hens fed a diet rich in Alltech’s algae produce eggs enriched with DHA omega-3, an essential nutrient for human cognitive development and health at all ages.

Headquartered in Kentucky, Alltech trades in 128 countries worldwide and has more than 4,200 employees. We have 77 production facilities strategically positioned across the globe and three bioscience centers, dedicated to research and education, two located in the USA and one in Ireland.

Alltech is the only privately held and family-owned business among the top ten animal health companies in the world. This is a source of competitive advantage, allowing us to stay focused on customer needs, innovation and long-term objectives.

Science is Alltech’s trailblazer into the future. We know that, in following its course, we can give our customers the assurance of first-to-market technologies that differentiate them among competition, and improve their profitability.

Our founding focus and core business is to improve animal health and performance by adding nutritional value to feed. This commitment remains steadfast, but we are evolving with the results of our science to take on a more inclusive mission as we look to the future: a mission that sees us dedicated to improving the health and performance of animals, plants and humans through nutrition and scientific innovation. In many ways, this mission reflects the focus we’ve always had within the food chain.

FOR THE ANIMAL (& THE FARM) Alltech’s nutritional supplements improve the health and performance of animals, whether they are part of a large-scale production or a family’s beloved pet. Our technologies are effectively utilized in dairy cows and beef cattle, poultry, swine, aquaculture, equine and companion animal sectors, addressing lifelong issues such as immunity, digestive health, mineral utilization, reproduction and bone strength.

Feed Quality Our scientifically proven products add nutritional value to animal feed. We address factors known to negatively affect feed quality such as the global prevalence of mycotoxins.

Animal Wellness Focusing on improving the immune system through nutrition is a core strategy for our technologies. For example, BIO-MOS®, a unique product derived from a strain of Saccharomyces cerevisiae yeast using a proprietary process developed by Alltech, is designed to feed the gastrointestinal tract. It promotes good bacteria and builds defenses, thereby maximizing performance.

Alltech’s study of nutrigenomics has led to a greater understanding of how to feed an animal to its specific genetic potential, tailoring nutrition to the animal’s requirements at particular stages of development. This approach to improving animal well-being holds limitless opportunities for the integrator, producer and retailer − efficient drug-free production, increased profitability, improved marketability and strengthened consumer confidence.

@AlltechAlltechNaturally Alltech.com

InnovationProduction Efficiency Improvements in feed quality and animal well-being have a direct effect on overall production efficiency. Animals with a healthy gut better absorb nutrients, resulting in lower input costs for farmers and less environmental impact through the waste of undigested nutrients. Within the industry reality of ever-tightening margins and rising raw material prices, this brings significant value to farmers who are eager to see better returns on their investments.

Alltech has invested significant resources to develop patented feed ingredient technologies that support our customers’ business goals. One such example is Alltech’s Bioplex® organic trace mineral range. Inorganic trace minerals are poorly absorbed by most species, and producers tend to over-supplement livestock rations to compensate for this inefficiency. Such practices compound inefficiencies, costing the farmer extra and creating pollution in the form of concentrated excreta. As a range of organic trace minerals, Alltech’s Bioplex is a true ACE solution in its benefits for the animal, consumer and environment.

FOR THE CONSUMER Today’s consumers are skeptical and selective. Why shouldn’t they be? After all, they’ve experienced a fairly steady diet of food safety scares ranging from salmonella and E.coli outbreaks to global pandemic fears related to avian and swine influenzas.

The consumer base is also multiplying. By 2100, if not sooner, the global population scale is expected to tip 11 billion. This is a pivotal moment for our food industry.

As a family-owned business, we can identify with the mothers and fathers who need to trust that the product at the end of the supply chain—the meat, cheese or eggs on their child’s plate—is nutritious, delicious and free from contaminants.

We believe one way to foster consumer confidence is to encourage value chain transparency. We work closely with food safety institutions in developing strategies and policies to ensure traceability and safety from farm to fork.

Alltech has long been focused on how its products affect consumers through their impact on the animal. For example, selenium has been referred to as the “conductor of the antioxidant orchestra” due to its pivotal role in human health and wellness. Yet many areas of the world are deficient in

naturally-occurring selenium. This can be mitigated through functional foods or foods that are fortified with organic selenium through the animal’s diet. Research has shown that including organic selenium in pig diets, for example, may increase the level of selenium in pork, reduce drip loss and color loss in the meat and improve economic returns for producers and retailers alike.

FOR THE ENVIRONMENT As a global company, Alltech recognizes our responsibility to the world’s environment as a corporate citizen. We’ve approached this responsibility from the standpoint of a family-owned company eager to see its children inherit a stronger, healthier planet.

Because all Alltech animal health products focus on achieving optimum well-being, environmental improvements are often an added benefit. This is for two reasons. First, a healthy animal is better able to digest its food and therefore excretes less undigested resources back into the environment. Second, products such as Allzyme® SSF enable an animal to make greater use of its feed, which minimizes the natural resources that would need to be used to feed the animal.

We are proud of our brand portfolio and its environmental impact. Yet we believe much more can still be done in the food, feed and crop industries. Our global research team is dedicated to continuous innovation. We are dissatisfied resting on today’s progress; we are propelled forward by a future full of promise.

AlgaeWhat is DHA, and Why Does it Matter? Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) is an omega-3 fatty acid naturally found in some species of algae and plankton and often in the food chain in fatty fish used for fish oil. An increasing body of research has demonstrated DHA’s importance as an essential nutrient for health at all stages of both human and animal life.

In humans, the nutritional importance of DHA omega-3 is linked to healthy brain and eye development and may reduce risks associated with coronary heart disease and age-related mental decline, as well as lessen the severity of depression.

When used in animal diets, DHA omega-3 from algae can increase immunity, fertility and overall health, as well as enrich the meat, milk or eggs. Producers are able to market these enriched products as value-added functional foods, and the consumer ultimately benefits from the added nutrient content.

Unfortunately, most of us are not consuming enough of this vital nutrient. Many studies indicate that intake is below the 220 mg per day recommended for adults by the International Society for the Study of Fatty Acids and Lipids, making this an internationally recognized public health concern.

Fortunately, as research continues to demonstrate the importance of this essential fatty acid, foods enriched with DHA are becoming increasingly available, simplifying incorporation of this “good fat” into daily diets. This enrichment through the food chain makes it easier to meet daily DHA dietary requirements with each slice of cheese or plate of scrambled eggs.

Many food products claim to be good sources of omega-3; however, not all omega-3s are created equal. Other vegetarian sources of omega-3 fatty acids, such as walnuts, flaxseed and vegetable oils, are sources of alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), not DHA. Although ALA is also considered a “good fat”, it does not provide the same notable health benefits as DHA. The body can make DHA from ALA, but the process is very inefficient. The most reliable way to ensure the body gets enough DHA is to include sources of DHA in the diet.

AlgaeWhere Does DHA Come From? The primary source of dietary DHA for humans and animals is fish oil. The quality and availability of fish oil, however, is in rapid decline, necessitating a sustainable alternative. We believe heterotrophically-grown algae, naturally rich in DHA omega-3, are the solution.

DHA omega-3 produced through algae is a viable alternative to fish oil that can be quickly produced commercially with limited land use and no detectable “fishy” taste.

ALLTECH® ALGAE Alltech Algae in Winchester, Kentucky, opened in early 2011 as one of the world’s largest commercial algae production sites. Alltech has invested more than $18 million in the facility to develop its proprietary algal technology for application in aquaculture, pet and livestock nutrition.

Most commercial production of microalgae is done autotrophically. After significant research, however, Alltech chose a different path, producing algae through the heterotrophic method. This method uses a closed and

controlled system, such as a stainless steel fermentor, to grow the algae. The nature of the system reduces contamination and also allows researchers to more closely control the process, maximizing nutrient content. The result is a more pure, consistent and nutritious DHA omega-3 source from Alltech.

Our Mission On-FarmALLTECH 37+® The Alltech 37+® analysis considers the mycotoxin challenge in each sample as a whole, rather than looking at the individual mycotoxins present, which enables us to have a better understanding of their synergistic power. In this way it more closely reflects commercial production and the challenges facing producers around the world. Utilizing the most advanced mycotoxin detection technology available, the Alltech 37+ provides producers with a more accurate picture of mycotoxin contamination and how it is likely to impact their animals’ health and performance through species-specific risk assessment reports and recommendations.

ALLTECH® MIKO The Alltech MIKO program is a systematic feed audit for the farm or the feed mill used to manage mycotoxin risk and reduce instances of future contamination. Utilizing HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) principles, the Alltech MIKO program looks at best practices for feed management, taking into consideration cleaning procedures, storage, overall health status and production levels. The program identifies and assesses critical control points and establishes corrective actions according to the producer’s needs. Once complete, the farm or

feed mill is provided a comprehensive action plan that can be implemented in the event of mycotoxin risk becoming elevated.

ALLTECH® IN VITRO FERMENTATION MODEL (IFM) The Alltech in vitro Fermentation Model (IFM) is a practical diagnostic tool to evaluate, troubleshoot and target solutions for potential issues that may arise in rations fed to dairy and beef cattle. Alltech IFM simulates rumen fermentation and estimates all byproducts of that fermentation (gas, volatile fatty acids and microbial protein). Instead of analyzing individual feedstuffs, IFM analyzes the total mixed ration. This allows us to determine the nutritional balance of the ration and account for positive and negative associative effects of feedstuffs when fed in a total mixed ration.

ALLTECH® TRUE CHECK IN VITRO SCREENING Providing insight into the availability of nutrients and energy, Alltech True Check in vitro screening is a system that analyzes samples of poultry or swine feed. After dilution in a buffer, the samples (one with Allzyme® SSF, one without) are subjected to digestive phases where the pH, temperature and time are precisely adjusted to mimic real life conditions. This unique method provides a quantitative prediction of the energy and phosphate release expected from the animal’s diet.

ALLTECH® RETURN CALCULATORS Alltech RETURN Calculators are easy-to-use tools for pig, poultry, dairy, and beef that highlight farm potential and the return on investment expected from Alltech solutions. The programs demonstrate improved profitability through enhanced performance and strategies to reach full production potential. These interactive tools show the impact improved performance can have on margins. There is also the opportunity to compare current levels of achievement with industry standards or set targets. Alltech’s aim is to help address challenges and provide individual and integrated solutions for improved performance throughout the production process.

ALLTECH® FORAGE MANAGEMENT In addition to evaluating the quality and density of forage including the use of infra-red cameras, Alltech can detect and address the risks caused by more than 37 different mycotoxins with confidence by using a holistic approach to managing mycotoxin challenges. Compared with other commercial methods that have a very narrow window of mycotoxin targets, this approach represents a real breakthrough, as it identifies an important variety of mycotoxins that can potentially contaminate a feed material.

THE NEXT FRONTIER Alltech Crop Science is unleashing the power of a holistic, integrative approach to modern agriculture—an approach that has only begun to be recognized by the mainstream, but a method in which our company has been working for 20 years. Through its innovative use of yeast fermentation, enzyme technology, algae and nutrigenomics, Alltech Crop Science develops biological solutions for the pressing agronomic challenges facing producers worldwide. As the new reality of climate change and volatile weather patterns, depleted soils, and increasing bans on conventional agrochemicals challenge farmers, Alltech Crop Science solutions help enhance plant health and crop production naturally.

DISCOVERING THE OTHER 98 PERCENT What if we stopped treating dirt, well, like dirt? Only 2 percent of the microbes in our soils have been discovered , and Alltech Crop Science is keen to discover what lies within the other 98 percent. Thus, the next frontier of human exploration may be the very soil beneath our feet, where billions of microorganisms—amazingly, one ounce of soil contains 312 billion microorganisms—are intimate partners in virtually every life process on the planet.

A GROWING GLOBAL POPULATION AND GREATER AGRICULTURAL NEEDS A skyrocketing global population of nine billion inhabitants in 2050 will need nutritious, safe food that is grown intelligently and responsibly. It’s projected that agricultural productivity will need to increase by at least 70 percent to grow enough food for the projected urbanized global population. Solutions like Alltech Crop Science’s patented technologies help plants resist abiotic stress, contribute to a healthy soil agribiome and support healthy root development. When plants are able to survive and even thrive despite stressors such as droughts, floods and high winds, farmers are better able to achieve the yields they need to feed the planet.

Alltech Crop ScienceRESEARCH ACROSS THE GLOBE With the race for organic alternatives to pesticides on, Alltech continues to research the potential of various microbes, bacteria, yeast, fungi and more that can help plants grow better, take up more nutrition and build resistance to disease.

Alltech recently invested close to $1 million in crop science research on 100 hectares at its research facility in Dunboyne, Ireland, and holds several partnerships with universities and private research facilities around the world. The company also boasts one of the world’s largest yeast fermentation facilities, located in São Pedro, Brazil.

DECLINING NUTRIENT VALUE With excessive chemical use and modern tillage practices taking a toll on soil health and nutrient availability, fruits and vegetables have lost much of their nutritional value over time as yield has been prioritized over quality. An apple today has only half the nutritional value that it had 50 years ago. An orange today carries one-eighth the vitamin A of the same orange 50 years ago.

BOOSTING NUTRITIONAL VALUE OF FOOD FOR HUMANS AND ANIMALS Harnessing the microbial population in the soil to restore organic matter is key to boosting the nutritional value of the foods consumers eat, and also the foods animals eat. Because improved crop quality leads to higher nutritional and energy values in feed and forages, it can also trigger greater gains that dairy farmers, for example, can see in milk production. Efficient production is not only more environmentally sustainable, but also more profitable for farmers.

ALLTECH CROP SCIENCE HISTORY Alltech Crop Science is a division of Alltech, a privately held animal health and nutrition company. Alltech Crop Science provides naturally-based products and solutions to agronomic and horticultural challenges facing producers across the globe and addresses the production of citrus to silage and everything in between.

Since its inception in 1994, Alltech Crop Science has conducted research on 69 crops in 29 countries to form the scientific basis for its products and boasts a strong regional presence in Europe, North America, Latin America, the Middle East, Africa and Asia. Its

global brand portfolio addresses each stage of crop development, providing plants with precision nutrition and offering growers biological solutions that enhance traditional programs.

A KENTUCKY-BASED, PRIVATE COMPANY Headquartered in Nicholasville, Kentucky, USA, Alltech Crop Science is fueled by a state-of-the-art production facility supported by a modern fermentation system, a world-renowned development laboratory, nutrigenomics center and research farm.

Alltech Crop Science supports the overall Alltech mission: to improve the health and performance of people, animals, and plants through scientific innovation. The company’s pursuit of this mission is guided by its founding ACE principle: the promise that in doing business it has a positive impact on Agriculture, the Consumer and the Environment.

HOW IT ALL STARTED Alltech Lexington Brewing and Distilling Co. is the oldest craft brewery in Lexington, Kentucky, USA. The former Lexington Brewing Co. was preparing to shut down production in 1999 when Alltech’s president Dr. Pearse Lyons resurrected the brewing tradition of Lexington that dates back to 1794.

The company started brewing Kentucky Ale® to have beer at trade shows as a tangible showcase of Alltech’s core competency—yeast fermentation. It was so well-received by people at the trade shows and in the community that Alltech scaled up production to distribute in the Lexington area. Currently the company’s beer is distributed in 25 states and six countries with a quickly expanding footprint.

Alltech Lexington Brewing and Distilling Co. paved the way for the craft beer scene in Lexington that has grown to include several other craft breweries in downtown Lexington in the past few years. The brewery’s expertise is in barrel-aging, and it produces a rotating barrel-aged seasonal series, as well as collaboration and specialty brews for the local market.

Alltech’s Town Branch Distillery opened in 2012 as the first new distillery in downtown Lexington in more than a century and

Brewing & Distilling | The Storyis named for Lexington’s Town Branch stream, the waterway rich with limestone that once enticed numerous distillers to set up operations along its course. Built with Kentucky limestone and featuring glass walls to showcase two copper pot stills, the 20,000-square-foot facility produces Town Branch® Bourbon, Town Branch® Rye, Pearse Lyons Reserve® malt whiskey and the bourbon-infused coffee liqueur, Bluegrass Sundown®.

In 2012, Town Branch Distillery also became a stop on the famed Kentucky Bourbon Trail® experience, which welcomed more than 627,000 international visitors in 2014.

Alltech joined the Kentucky Distillers’ Association (KDA) in February 2011, the first time since its founding in 1880 that the Kentucky Distillers’ Association expanded membership to include a craft distillery.

Alltech Lexington Brewing and Distilling Co. is one of a handful of combined brewing and distilling operations in the United States.

Brewing & Distilling | The StoryAlltech Lexington Brewing and Distilling Co.’s barrel-aged beers are crafted with barrels from the heart of Kentucky’s bourbon country. They are received within hours of being emptied of their bourbon, unlike many other breweries attempting similar styles. When received by our brewery, there are typically five to 10 gallons of bourbon still in the barrel. The brewery regularly ages 3,000 to 5,000 barrels at a time, and handles up to 1,000 barrels per week.

It’s all about yeast. Yeast is said to be the life force and the single greatest flavor contributor within beer. It’s also responsible for the fermentation process, which is not only instrumental in crafting our beers, but in the digestive system of livestock. Alltech founder and president Dr. Pearse Lyons holds a Ph.D. in yeast biochemistry and successfully built Alltech based upon its versatile core competency of yeast fermentation. We select specialized strains of yeast for the purpose of crafting remarkably smooth beer, as well as improving health and efficiency of animals.

A native of Dundalk, Co., Ireland, Alltech founder Dr. Pearse Lyons comes from five generations of Irish coopers (barrel craftsmen) on his mother’s side, and distillers on his father’s side. KENTUCKY ALE® The first brew produced by Alltech Lexington Brewing and Distilling Co., Kentucky Ale® is described as a marriage between two classic beer styles, Irish Red Ale and English Pale Ale. With a light amber color, Kentucky Ale owes its body and character to select imported malts and a pinch of wheat malt for a rich, smooth taste. This brew is aged in bourbon barrels to make the brewery’s flagship Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale®. www.KentuckyAle.com

KENTUCKY BOURBON BARREL ALE® Award-winning Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale® is a unique sipping beer with the distinctive nose of a well-crafted bourbon. Our Kentucky Ale® is aged for six weeks in freshly decanted bourbon barrels from some of Kentucky’s finest distilleries. Subtle yet familiar flavors of vanilla and oak are imparted to this special ale as it rests in the charred barrels. Pleasantly smooth and robust, Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale may also be served as an aperitif or after-dinner drink. Launched in 2006, it has grown to become the flagship beer of the premier name in barrel-aged beers: Alltech Lexington Brewing and Distilling Company.

KENTUCKY KÖLSCH® Kentucky Kölsch® is a top-fermented ale, a classic style of beer originating in Cologne, Germany. For years, Alltech master brewers have used their very own specialized yeast, which is the single greatest contributor to this remarkably flavorful and award-winning craft brew. Our master brewers’ recipe calls for imported pale malts and malted white wheat to create an exceptionally smooth finish.

KENTUCKY IPA® Kentucky IPA® is a deliciously hoppy, golden-hued American India Pale Ale. It has bright citrus flavors and sweet floral aromas that come from liberal dry-hopping with American hops. The India Pale Ale style is the fastest-growing craft beer style in the U.S. market.

KENTUCKY BOURBON BARREL STOUT® Carefully crafted by Alltech’s master brewers, Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Stout® builds on the success of its barrel-aged brother, the beloved Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale®. Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Stout is brewed with Alltech® Café Citadelle Haitian coffee and aged in world-famous Kentucky bourbon barrels. The result is a complex stout with dark-roasted malts, hints of caramel and vanilla and a lightly roasted coffee finish.

TOWN BRANCH® BOURBON Aged in new, charred white oak barrels, Town Branch® Bourbon is infused with a golden amber honey color, an inviting introduction to this masterfully crafted bourbon. Pleasant woody and oaky aromas lead into caramel, toffee, brown sugar, and hints of cherry. The lavish and complex flavors are smooth and sweet with a gentle warming, leading to a long finish. Named for the Town Branch waterway upon which Lexington was founded and once the site of much bourbon production, Town Branch® Bourbon celebrates Lexington’s rich distilling history.

TOWN BRANCH RYE® Distilled by America’s first president at Mount Vernon and the most popular whiskey until Prohibition, rye whiskey is being revived with Town Branch Rye — a style of whiskey with a history as rich as its flavor. As the original spirit in a Whiskey Sour or an Old Fashioned, rye whiskey is still chosen by the most discerning spirits connoisseurs for its spicy, robust flavor. Enjoy the floral aroma, then the light, spicy rye notes of vanilla and oak with a peppery, warm dry finish.

PEARSE LYONS RESERVE® Pearse Lyons Reserve® symbolizes the passion of its founder and master distiller, Irishman Dr. Pearse Lyons. Distilled in dual copper pot stills from Scotland, Pearse Lyons Reserve is the first malt whiskey produced in Kentucky since 1919. Pearse Lyons Reserve offers notes of molasses and brown sugar with a touch of nutmeg and vanilla. The taste is smooth and spicy, then fades to reveal tart notes of lemon crème and molasses. Aged in spent bourbon barrels that have also been used to age the brewery’s flagship Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale®, Pearse Lyons Reserve® picks up a unique taste from these barrels.

BLUEGRASS SUNDOWN® Reminiscent of the famed Irish coffee, but with a decidedly Kentucky spin, Bluegrass Sundown® is a dark-roasted coffee infused with Kentucky bourbon and sugar. Boiling water is simply added to the delectable liqueur to release the flavors and aromas. Topped with a delicate layer of heavy cream, Bluegrass Sundown is an ideal finish to a special evening.

Global Feed Survey2015 marks the fourth consecutive year that Alltech has conducted this global feed survey. This undertaking has required a significant amount of investigation each year, mainly because the feed industry is measured differently and in varying degrees of thoroughness from country to country. Yet, each year, better information is discovered and more is learned about how farmers around the world feed their livestock.

Alltech isn’t the only entity interested in feed production trends. Increasingly, more farmers, supply companies, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, non-governmental organizations, food businesses and indeed consumers are interested in what goes into the food humans consume. What foods are truly nutritious? How do farmers raise healthy livestock? How can agriculture increase efficiency and therefore, feed more people? Answers to these questions and many others can be found by starting with an examination of the feed animals are eating worldwide.

This report outlines Alltech’s estimate of the world’s feed tonnage and trends to date and is intended to serve as an industry resource for the coming year.

Production & QualityENSURING QUALITY Alltech takes the trust of its customers and its own role in the supply chain seriously. As such, we developed an unprecedented quality control system called AQS (Alltech Quality System), which has been implemented in all of the company’s production facilities worldwide.

AQS is designed to meet or exceed the quality and safety requirements of all 128 countries in which Alltech does business. Quality assurance and traceability at Alltech know no geographical bounds.

We only source raw materials from a carefully vetted and approved list of suppliers, and a testing program is in place based on a full risk analysis of individual raw materials.

Further to AQS, Alltech developed the Q+ (Quality Plus) process, a mineral quality control program unique to the Bioplex® and Sel-Plex® range of trace minerals. Once again, raw materials are only sourced from approved suppliers, and the incoming inorganic materials are 100 percent tested for PCBs, dioxins and heavy metals. Alltech does not composite test and is the only company to offer a positive release program for organic trace minerals.

PRODUCTION Alltech is moving closer to its customers, rapidly expanding its global production footprint in order to provide increasingly local support. We now have 77 production facilities globally and are the largest producer and processor of yeast in the world, which includes the only selenium yeast to be FDA-reviewed and first to be approved by the EU. We are also the world’s largest producer of organic trace minerals.

Our products go from farm to family so there can be no margin of error. Quality, safety, traceability and consistency are non-negotiable.

Production & QualitySeveral of Alltech’s facilities are unique to the industry:• Largest yeast production and processing facility in the world

for animal nutrition—São Pedro, Brazil

• One of the two largest commercial algae production facilities in the world and the only one dedicated to animal nutrition—Winchester, Kentucky, USA

• The largest commercial solid state enzyme facility—Serdán, Mexico

• One of the world’s largest facilities for producing bacteria within the nutrition industry—Nicholasville, Kentucky, USA

• Fourteen facilities around the globe capable of coating key raw materials and components for the animal nutrition industry

Each facility is engineered to adhere to the stringent standards enforced by the Alltech Quality System (AQS) while also

minimizing carbon footprint. In Serdán, Mexico, for example, the local area is very dry so Alltech’s solid state fermentation facility recycles and reuses all of its waste water. The facility also grows 60,000–100,000 yucca seedlings on its grounds, which are then replanted in surrounding regions. Fifteen years later, they are harvested and returned to Alltech Serdán, where the logs are used to produce Alltech’s De-Odorase® product for natural control of ammonia and animal waste odor.

Recent developments have included:

• Eleven acquisitions globally, which have increased our worldwide production footprint to 77 facilities

• Beginning construction of an algae plant in São Pedro, Brazil, where Alltech already maintains the largest yeast production facility in the world for animal nutrition. The new algae plant represents a $63 million investment, which will result in 200 direct and indirect jobs and increase Alltech Brazil’s production by 58 percent.

• Acquiring a new 7,300m² plant in Indaiatuba, São Paulo State, Brazil. In the new facility, we are manufacturing nutritional solutions for beef and dairy cattle to support the production

capacity of the nine plants that Alltech currently has throughout Latin America.

• Doubling the production of Optigen®, Alltech’s non-protein nitrogen source for ruminants, in Araucaria, Brazil.

• Installing a Bioplex® trace minerals production plant, expanding Alltech’s production capability in Bangalore, India.

• Installing new coating facilities in the United Arab Emirates, Russia and Argentina.

In 2015, Alltech has plans for:

• Three new yeast processing facilities in Mexico

• A new coating facility in Australia

• New processing facilities in Ontario, California, USA; Klerken, Belgium; and Bangkok, Thailand

• Expansion of our Winchester, Kentucky, USA, algae facility

Education & EventsWe are working to inspire the next generation—from primary school students to our own employees. Through our commitment to building school science labs, the global competitions we’ve established in the arts and sciences, and our unique training programs, we believe in investing in the future by kindling a love of learning and discovery.

Education is a core focus at Alltech. We encourage a lifelong love of learning within our communities as well as our own organization through external initiatives and internal talent development programs.

CHILDREN Each year Alltech constructs at least one new state-of-the-art science laboratory for a Kentucky primary school. Since 2007, 11 primary school laboratories have been completed.

Alltech’s work in each school does not end when the last new glass beaker is placed in the lab. Instead, the company sends a member of its research team to assist the teacher with special projects and events, thrilling children that a “real scientist” is in their classroom. The Alltech researcher’s hands-on experiments and demonstrations inspire children to pursue science and a greater curiosity about the world around them.

Regular visits focus on the numerous career paths available in the sciences, stretching children to think more broadly about their futures. Alltech scientists are also involved with STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) clubs and agriculture programs of local schools.

UNIVERSITY Budding scientists and other aspiring professionals gain valuable insights to the business and purpose of feeding the world through our university-focused initiatives. Since 2005, the Alltech Young Scientist competition has engaged more than 100,000 undergraduate and graduate students from around the world. Finalists are awarded with an all-expenses-paid trip to Kentucky where they present their research, with winners announced in front of nearly 3,000 industry professionals during Alltech’s International Symposium. Through this competition and growing educational relationships, Alltech has formed research alliances with more than 1,200 universities around the world. These partnerships are instrumental to furthering nutritional innovation in global food sources.

Education & EventsThe Alltech Innovation Competition, started in 2013 in Kentucky and Ireland, charges university teams to compete against one another with innovative business plans that could impact local economies. This competition, now annual, highlights entrepreneurship and the impact of cross-functional teamwork on business development.

RECRUITMENT University students often desire real-world learning experiences that will allow them to embark on an exciting career path in today’s competitive job market. Alltech offers this desired hands-on experience through internships around the world in research, marketing, management information systems and sales. To sustain our primacy in science, we support graduate and doctoral students through our bioscience center concept, which bridges academia and industry. These select students conduct research with Alltech that affects crop production, animal health and human foods.

For recent graduates in all fields of study, the Alltech Career Development Program offers an incredible opportunity to accelerate one’s career potential in agribusiness. The inaugural program in 2012 introduced 20 highly motivated people to the global Alltech team. After a year of training, they are managing

projects in marketing, information systems, sales, finance and regulatory departments for Alltech’s business in animal health, crop science, algae and the beverage industry. The success of the program has even led to the creation of additional, specialized Alltech Career Development Programs in beef, dairy, quality assurance and production.

To date, more than 150 undergraduate students have completed an internship program at Alltech’s Center for Nutrigenomics and Applied Animal Nutrition in Kentucky, and more than 260 Ph.D., master’s and graduate students have been supported through Alltech’s bioscience centers.

PROFESSIONALS We believe it is important to engage in the discussion of how food is produced, and its safety and sustainability, with all members of the food supply chain—from the agriculture industry to consumers.

Alltech believes in giving back to the communities in which we work. It’s what a good neighbor should do. Outreach is funded by the Alltech ACE Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable foundation we established.

Our efforts may include a monetary donation, but they never end there. At Alltech, the causes we support are adopted by our company family, and they become personal to our team.

ALLTECH® SUSTAINABLE HAITI PROJECT After a catastrophic earthquake ravaged Haiti in January 2010, threatening to steal any fleeting hope from the already struggling country, Alltech employees throughout the world were motivated to help as they had with previous natural disasters such as Hurricane Katrina, the 2008 Pacific tsunami and the 2004 Chinese earthquake. So, within days of the tremors’ cessation, Alltech president Dr. Pearse Lyons was on the ground in Haiti assessing opportunities for the company’s involvement, and the Alltech Sustainable Haiti Project was launched.

Today the Alltech Sustainable Haiti Project includes complete financial responsibility as well as renovations and educational support for two primary schools in northern Haiti and the resurrection of a Haitian gem—the country’s 100%

“Because of this amazing competition, we have been able to recruit some of the most talented students from around the world,” said Dr. Everett McCorvey, director of the University of Kentucky Opera Theatre program and professor of voice. The UK Opera Theatre program has been recognized by the Richard Tucker Foundation as one of the top 20 opera programs in the country.

One of the largest vocal scholarship competitions of its kind, the Alltech Vocal Scholarship Competition has granted nearly $4 million to undergraduate and graduate students since it began in 2006. It has also given students the opportunity to perform at the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games™ 2010, serenade Muhammad Ali, and perform at Windsor Castle and in numerous countries around the world, including Ireland, France, China, Peru and Mexico.

In 2012, Alltech was honored as one of the “Top 10 Companies Supporting the Arts in America,” by Americans for the Arts, the United States’ leading non-profit organization for advancing the arts and arts education.

SCIENCE LABORATORIES IN LOCAL SCHOOLS Alltech believes in investing in the future by nurturing a love of learning and discovery. One way we actively promote this

mission is through the annual construction of at least one state-of-the-art science laboratory in a local school. Since 2007, 11 primary school laboratories have been completed.

Alltech’s work in each school does not end when the last new glass beaker is placed in the lab. LOCAL PHILANTHROPY, GLOBALLY Alltech believes in the power of small acts on a local level. Our corporate headquarters in Kentucky alone annually provides approximately $100,000 to philanthropic efforts in our immediate local community. This is outside of the annual construction of science laboratories in local primary schools,

which requires approximately $250,000 per school.

Similar community involvement and outreach is encouraged in all Alltech locations globally. In São Pedro, Brazil, for example, Alltech financially supports CAIS, a non-governmental social organization that assists the children of low-income families. More than 140 children take part in the program, which keeps them off the streets and instead offers education and fun through classes on computers, dance, martial arts, etc. Outside of Alltech’s financial support, employees volunteer to teach English to the children for four hours each week.

In Serdan, Mexico, Alltech assists an elementary school called El Cerrito (“Little mountain”) with school supplies, tables and computers.

Alltech Romania works closely with a local center for children born with severe brain and motor problems. They visit regularly, bringing presents and also helping to raise funds for much-needed supplies.

In the Philippines, Alltech is helping to rebuild the Bayanihan school, which was destroyed by a category five typhoon in November 2013. Once the children’s school is rebuilt, our team will continue to support the school with supplies and upkeep.

These are but a few of the stories of how our global team is improving life in their local communities.

Our Vision in 2015 We’re also embracing the “rebel” within. We’ve gone against the grain. Our business has been built by taking another path, the trail blazed by our primacy in science.

We’re referring to 2015 as our year of “REBELation.” It’s a “revelation” as we discover new ways in which our scientific research can deliver solutions to challenges on the farm, in the field, in the marketplace and even in the human body.

As the challenges mount in the feed and food industries, we see an opportunity for leadership. With a new projection of 11 billion people by 2100, a global “malnutrition” epidemic and an imperative to safeguard the world’s natural resources for our children, this is a year for inspiration, innovation and world-changing ideas—a year of “REBELation.”

We have the ability and responsibility to make a difference. Will you join us?
