IASTAM completed Forty (40) years on January 31st, 2021. During this 40th year we faced and successfully attended to challenges, both internal due to postponement and external due to pandemic. An added feather in our cap is publication of IASTAM Text as with contribution from 41 of our Awardees to celebrate the 40th year as was decided in June 2019.This journey is a matter of pride for all – we all members and well-wishers - of IASTAM.I recollect January 31st, 1981 when as young man of 28 years, I witnessed IASTAM began its journey on terraces of Zandu in Mumbai in presence of several great stalwarts. I was associated with Zandu as Hon. Ayurvedic Adviser. I remember the fi rst week enrolling nearly 40 regular annual members at Rs. 15 and about 11 life members at Rs. 100 from amongst my friends and colleagues from Podar and KGMP Ayurvedic College where I was Lecturer in Kayachikitsa. I am sure all those and those who became members of IASTAM thereafter must be satisfi ed with this long journey. As of today, we have 571 life members, 6 International Members, 31 Patron Members, 19 Institutional Members and an International Institutional Member. Record for a non-advocacy group is good.I must thank all these members who took interest

and believed in IASTAM objectives and activities. The journey has not been easy; it had its ups and downs. BUT HERE WE ARE, KICKING! During this journey we not only initiated but have continuously deliberated and nurtured the thought of bringing together various disciplines for development of Indigenous Systems of Medicine (AYUSH) under the umbrella of ASIAN MEDICINE. In Indian Context IASTAM has ABLY served its purpose and objectives.It has consistently made eff orts to bring all of us representing diff erent systems and disciplines together and provided a platform to foster mutual respect and complement activities to develop AYUSH. It has made noteworthy contribution in a subtle yet clear manner.Let me thank you – one and all, members, colleagues, awardees, and well-wishers without whom this journey would not have been possible.Deriving and Working Towards A Common Objective Is The Only Way For Survival Or Success Of An Organization. On This Day Let Us Celebrate Our Anniversary With Commitment For Integration Of Knowledge For Better Health Care Of People.happy anniversary.

Dr. S. P. Kinjawadekar passed away on 18th January 2021. A founder member of NIMA and a very respected mentor and teacher of all time, he

was the Former Regional Secretary. He was a Former Director of Pune Vidyarthi Griha and member of CCIM-Central Council of Indian Medicine. He served for more than 50 years as the Chief Editor of the Journal of National Integrated Medical Association, President of All India Senior Citizens Association. He was recipient of the Pune Vidyapeeth Adarsh Teacher Award.

He played an important role in conclaves and seminars of IASTAM. In 1990 at ICTAM III, he was the Chairman of Souvenir Committee. In 2003 at the Intellectual Conclave on Ayurved and in 2005 at Conclave on Transforming Traditions for Tomorrows Health, he actively participated and led the deliberations. His sad demise is a big loss to IASTAM. We will miss his guidance. We put on record many of his contributions as a strong supporter of IASTAM.
