    We always talk about the SSB preparation.We prepare for the WAT,TAT,SRT, GTOetc. and do

    practice for the same. But we always forget the very basic rule of joining any new

    organizationi.e. latest news about the organization or firm.

    We must know about the new advancements & changes taking place in the organization, we

    want to join. Same rule is applicable for joiningprestigious Indiandefence. Here we are withthe

    news of new advancements&changes in Indian defence.

    Indian DefenceRound up 2013-2014-

    Tessy Thomas-Missile women of India

    She is a scientist from DRDO(DefenceResearch Development Org.) and popular for her key role

    in making of AGNI-5,a long range nuclear capable ballistic missile.

  • Pinaka Rocket Test

    India successfully test fired rockets named Pinaka on August 7 2013 from Chandipur (Odisha).

    Features of Pinaka:Range-40km and Quick reaction time & can fire 12 rockets in 44 seconds.

    MiG 21 FL Retirement form Indian Air Force

    All Mig -21FL fighter plans are released from Indian Air Force on Dec.11, 2013. These Soviet

    Union made plans joined AIF in 1963.It served theIndian Airforce for 50 years.

  • Ex. Air chief marshal NAK Brownes Book

    First to Last

    Ex. Air chief marshal NAK Browne released his book with title FIRST TO LAST: 50 years of MiG-

    21 with the IAF.He wrote the book to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of MIG -21 in Indian Air

    Force.

    C-17 Globemaster III inducted in IAF

    It is biggest transport aircraft(70 tone load capacity) of IAF. It is made by Boeing(U.S.)& will

    replace RUSSIAN IL-76known as Gajraj (40 tone load capacity). The US Company will deliver

    10 such aircrafts to Indian air force out of which 3 are already delivered.

  • C-130J Super Hercules Plane @DOB(Ladakh)

    IAFs transporteraircraft C-130J Super Hercules landed at DOB (Ladakh) on august 2013.DOB

    i.e.Daulat Beg Oldie air strip is worlds highest air striplocated at Aksai Chin area NR LAC (Line

    of Actual Control).This area is in news for ChineseArmytroops crossing the LAC.This air strip

    was closed for 43 Years(1965to2008).

    1st Fighter Aircraft Base inSouthernPeninsula

    1st fighter aircraft base was inaugurated at Thanjavur (South India)on May, 2013.This base in

    Southern Peninsula will have the fullSukhoi-30MKI combat aircraft squadron by 2017-18.

  • India-Russia defenceexercise in 2014

    Both countries will hold First ever joint Air Force exercise in 2014.Place is not decided yet.Joint

    navy exercise will be conducted in the Peter the Great Bay in Sea of Japan.

    Pilatus PC-7MK II

    This trainer aircraft is inducted into the Indian Air force on 31st May, 2013.This aircraft is a

    made in Switzerland& Indian defenceministry has placed an order of 75 such aircrafts. It will

    be used to train pilots of the IndianAir Force, Navy & Coast Guard.It will share the work of

    HJT-16 Kirantraineraircraftthat was used earlier for the same purposeat Indian Air Force

    Academy, Hyderabad.

  • Aero India 2013(06-10thFebruary 2013)

    The 9th Aero India Show was started on feb.6, 2013 at Yelanhanka Air Force

    Base(Bengaluru).It was a 5 days aero show(6-10th FEB. 2013).It was organized (once every

    two years)by Indian ministry of defence, Indian Air force &Defence Research and

    Development Org. (DRDO)etc.In this edition, people saw the last aerobatic show of

    Kiranaircraft by Surya Kiran aerobatic team.

    Besides being the largest air show inAsia, some new defence researches&productswere

    displayed in Aero India 2013, those are listed below:

    Indian-Russian 5THGeneration Fighter Aircraft.

    Indian Submarine Launch Ballistic Missile, Sagarika.

    IAF Pilatus PC-7MK II,smallest trainer aircraft.

    Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) model that is expected to join Indian Air

    Force in 2025.
