Annual Conference Information Packet
The packet, which was mailed to members of annual conference earlier this month, is
available online. The online version has an updated phone number for those with on-
campus housing questions. See packet.
Shoe Collection Correction
Last week’s e-news item about the shoe collection at annual conference indicated that
“gently used or new shoes” would be collected to benefit the Erie Alliance and All God’s
Children Ministry. In reality, they will take shoes or other footwear like workboots in
ANY CONDITION—singles or pairs. Unusable ones are recycled for the materials in
them. The ministries will be paid by the pound and the unusable shoes repurposed for
other uses. Learn more. District offices have distributed clear plastic bags for churches
to collect shoes to bring to annual conference. If people run out of packaging supplies,
but still have shoes, don’t worry. Bring the shoes to conference anyway. There will be
supplies on site to package them there.

JUNE
Michael Airgood to Speak at Brookville First June 1st @ 6:00pm
Michael Airgood, a Kane, PA native, has been serving in Ukraine as a United
Methodist missionary sent by the General Board of Global Ministries (GBGM). Michael
has been in Ukraine for over 3 years and will be returning home to Western PA in May.
Michael has set up a time to share his experiences on each district. For the Indiana
District, he will be at Brookville First United Methodist Church on Sunday, June 1 at
6:00 pm. Michael will share his experiences in Ukraine as a missionary and his
understanding of the unrest that has been escalating there. Everyone is welcome to
attend, meet Michael, and hear him share about his adventures as a UM missionary.
10
Michael B. Airgood is a United Methodist missionary with the General Board of
Global Ministries serving as a church planter and youth ministry developer in Western
Ukraine, based in the city of L'viv.
Michael Airgood is a native of Kane, Pennsylvania in the Western Pennsylvania
Annual Conference, where he grew up in the First United Methodist Church. He earned
a bachelor of science degree in intercultural studies from Toccoa Falls College, Toccoa,
Georgia, and is a licensed local pastor.
"I grew up in a Christian home, having attended a United Methodist church all of my
life. I chose to follow Jesus when I was at a church camp at age 11," Michael says. "I felt
called to be a missionary with the General Board of Global Ministries when I was 12
years old. I knew I wanted to help people and make disciples of Jesus Christ."
Right out of college, he became an Individual Volunteer in Mission through Global
Ministries, serving two months in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, and 13 months in Ukraine—a
year in L'viv and a month in Kiev.
Michael, commissioned in the fall of 2011, has special responsibility in the areas of new
church development; youth ministry, including teenagers; lay leadership training; and
English-language outreach. He leads Sunday worship and preaches as needed. He
speaks Ukrainian, Russian, and English.
