Today, IGNOU serves the educational aspirations of over 3 million students in India and other Countries through 21 Schools of Studies and a network of 67 Regional Centres and around 3136 study centres. The University offers about

232 Certificate, Diploma, Degree, Post Graduate Degree and Doctoral Programmes with a strength of nearly 810 faculty members in Schools, 574 academic staff at the headquarters and regional centres and about 58400 academic counselors from the conventional institutions of higher learning, professional organization and industry among others.

Recognition of degrees of IGNOU:

The Degrees/Diplomas/Certificates issued by the University are recognized by all the members of Association of Indian Universities, University Grants Commission (UGC), Distance Education Council (DEC) All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) and are at par with all Indian Universities.

IGNOU Regional Centre Bijapur:

The IGNOU Regional Centre Bijapur is functioning since 2011 to enhance skills, knowledge and promote self employment among the learners in the districts of Belgaum, Dharwad, Bijapur, Bagalkote, Bidar, Gulbarga, Koppal, Raichur, Yadgir, Haveri, Gadag, Bellary and Solapur and Latur of Maharastra District.

Open & Distance Education at IGNOU- a Tool for Career Development

1. Open Access: Except for special professional programmes, no entry qualifications are required to study under distance education.

2. Age: Any one aged 18 years and above is eligible to study 3. Flexible Learning: These classes are arranged through the study centres during the weekends. 4. Study Materials: Students are provided with self structured material to have effective self study

5. Interactive Contact Sessions: Counseling is a group activity in which the learners are expected to participate in purposeful and meaningful discussion on the subject.

6. Study Centres: The Study Centre clarify doubts on academic and administrative queries. Counselling provided by the Academic counselors who are experts in the subject.

7. Credit System: Each course is assigned a credit value that contributes towards that particular programme. 8. Modular Course Structure: Students may choose the courses that suit to their own needs or interest 9. Credit Transfer: Students are allowed to transfer credits gained at local or other Universities to the ODL

10. Affordable fees structure: The fees of Programmes in IGNOU are more affordable. 11. Admissions: Admission at IGNOU are offered in two cycles i.e., July and January cycles in a year by online mode. 12. Reservation: The University provides for reservation of seats for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, OBCs and

Physically Challenged persons as per Government of India rules.

13. Scholarships and Reimbursement of Fees: The students belonging to the categories of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Physically Challenged persons have the opportunity to avail scholarships and reimbursement of fees.

14. Free Education:

Fee Exemption of SC/ST Students under Scheduled Caste Sub Plan (SCSP) and Tribal Sub Plan (TSP) for BDP (BA, BCOM, BSC) Students.

Fee Exemption for Jail inmates for Programmes ( except Practical programmes)

15. DoPT Scheme for Central Government Employees: The Scheme is meant for Central Government Employees (Working in Ministers/Departments/At t ached offices and Faculty members of State Apex Training Institutions), Under this scheme all applicants are entitled to reimbursement of their program fee upon successful completion of the program pursued
