(1) Members are entitled to claim travel expenses, including travel to committee meetings at Queen's Park. Air travel is limited (see (4) below), each round trip is considered 1 trip/point.
(2) Members may claim the cost of round trips from their place of residence or Toronto to any destination within Ontario. Assembly travel is limited (see (4) below), each round trip isconsidered 1 trip/point.
(3) Unlimited car travel between a Member's residence and Toronto may be claimed for family. Family travel is limited for air, bus or train trips (see (4) below), each round trip isconsidered 1 trip/point.
(4) The Travel Point System combines trips between Residence and Queen's Park, Assembly travel and Family travel.The maximum total for each Member is 64 points (equivalent to 64 return trips), however, within this a Member Is limited to 40 Assembly travel trips.Travel by the Leaders of the Opposition and the Leader of the Recognized Party Is disclosed separately under the Public Sector and MPP Accountability and Transparency act, 2014.
(5) Travel expenses incurred within the riding are reimbursable. Northern Members (N) are reimbursed from their Global budget for air travel and accommodation during travel in their riding.Northern Members are allowed to charge 4 and Members of Kiiwetlnoong and Mushkegowuk-James Bay are allowed 8 return trips of air charter travel per year within their riding to the64 point travel system.
(6) All eligible Members, other than the Speaker, may claim the cost of accommodation in Toronto. A Member whose principal residence is within 50km of the seat of Government may claimactual costs of accommodation incurred due to special or unusual circumstances on an overnight basis only. Accommodation expenses for MPP's may not exceed $26,434. Ministers of theCrown and the Leaders of the Opposition and the Recognized Party may claim up to $27,434 annually. The Toronto Accommodation allowance is prorated on changes due to elections andappointments of Ministers of the Crown. Resigned/defeated Members can claim the cost of one shipment of personal property from Toronto to their residence.
