Introduction

Happy Holidays and welcome to Boracay!

Enjoy InFlight magazine’s first Indulge supplement: Boracay

Edition, where Boracay is featured and lives true to its identity as a top gastronomic destination.

Boracay has been top of mind if looking for a place to relax, enjoy a fine beach ambience, marvel at the great view, and enjoy fantastic meals. One of the charms of Boracay is its infectious island party vibe, which is likewise reflected in most, if not all, the restaurants and eating joints on the island. Host to about 200 dining establishments, Boracay Island has places that offer the best grills, freshest seafood dishes, and unique dining options whose inspiration goes all the way from across the Atlantic, or whose creations are like works of art. The dining experience in Boracay is so diverse that we hear of stories like a food enthusiast hopping on a plane, visiting the island for a day, only to dine.

In this supplement, you will be entangled in a maze of about 20 restaurants, learning about delectable dishes from appetizers to main courses to desserts. You’ll also be guided well because this supplement comes with description on ambience and setting, and prices of each featured restaurant, a handy map (see page 3), and a directory of other bars and restaurants (see page 32).

Enjoy eating! And Merry Christmas to you all!

islanD souvenirs was founded by Jay Aldeguer in 1992, inspired by his travels in Europe and all around the Philippines. He felt here was a need to produce light and practical “pasalubong” items and found that t-shirts were more practical and lighter to pack. With some earnings from his t-shirt business in college and some help from his parents, he started Islands Souvenirs

A D V E R T O R I A L

and produced premium quality souvenirs that are creative, innovative and of good quality.

With a P1,500.00 bamboo cart, Aldegeur opened the first Island Souvenirs stall in a department store in Cebu. After six months, Cebu’s top department store, Gaisano Mall, offered him an 80 square meter space. From then on, Islands Souvenirs sales

ballooned to 300 percent. At that time, the tourism industry was in an upsurge and it was a good time to do the business.

However, in the late 1990’s, the Asian financial crisis affected the influx of tourists in the country but instead of pulling back, Aldeguer decided to fast-track international distribution and other tourism related businesses.

From a single bamboo cart, Islands Souvenirs has grown to more than a hundred outlets all over the Philippines as well as abroad. It is the only souvenir concept store in the country that has gained popularity and patronage from the Filipinos and tourists alike.

Since 1997, Aldeguer and Island Souvenirs has won countless awards including World Class Retailer of the

Year from the Philippine Retailers Association and The Department of Trade and Industries.

One of the company’s most successful t-shirt line is the “I Heart” series that allows clients to personalize their shirts. Launched in February 2010, “I Heart” makes the experience of a place as fun and engaging as possible. “I Heart” makes it simple and enjoyable for people to express their pride for their own cities. By letting the customers personalize their shirts, they become personally vested in it and the memories that they create become more meaningful.

The “I Heart” shirt is a unique twist to show off the destination’s pride. It’s a classic, timeless look – a perfect way for anyone to wear their heart on their sleeve.
