The miracle is not that we do this work, but that we are happy to do it.- Mother Teresa
From ourManagingDirector
As mandated by our Government, our Organization has been actively participating in various projects to serve Society as part of our Corporate Social Responsibility for the past 3 years.
In terms of the policy laid down by the Government of India, Corporates are required to contribute part of their profit for the cause of social upliftment of the underprivileged sections of Society.
During the past 3 years, our focus has been on supporting the needs in the “healthcare” and “education” sectors. We therefore supported Public Hospitals and Educational Institutions in the cities of Mumbai and Pune. Our support in these sectors was based on directly providing medical equipment to the selected public hospitals and modern facilities for educational institutions, based on proper due diligence and after following the fulfilment of appropriate evaluation criteria.
We reached a large section of Society and our efforts have been very well appreciated by the recipients. Yet we know that what we are doing for Society is just a “drop in the ocean”. We shall endeavour our best to continue our CSR activities in the near future and reach larger sections of Society.
We are happy to state that Institutions like the Rotary Club have been assisting us to identify important projects and coordinate implementation of the same.
The employees associated with our CSR projects have experienced a high sense of fulfilment, since they could serve Society in the best possible manner, themselves! I would like to thank all our employees who participated in the CSR projects, as also the Management and Staff of the Hospitals and Schools who gave us the honour of serving them, and the Rotary Clubs who have been associated with these projects.
Sincerely,
PD Samudra CEO & Managing Director

tkIS India handed over an Ethylene Oxide (ETO) Sterilizer to the Cardiology Department of KEM Hospital, Parel in mid-May 2016.
The ETO Sterilizer is used to sterilize catheters and equipment needed in cardiac care. The process of dry sterilization of the catheters in the ETO Sterilizer ensures that costly sterlizers can be re-used.
It is estimated that the equipment will benefit a few hundred needy patients - who otherwise would have to procure the catheters at a very high price.
The donation was acknowledged by the Dean of the KEM Hospital Dr Avinash Supe, in the presence of the doctors and the nursing staff of the Cardiology Department.

The Cortical Stimulator and Nerve Monitoring System are used in tandem while removing tumours from the brain. The Cortical Stimulator is used to stimulate a nerve. The Nerve Monitor checks whether a particular area of the brain is functioning by checking nerves in the affected area. The Ultrasonic Aspirator is used in removing tumours from the body. This machine mitigates the pain during excision of tumours by numbing the tissues surrounding the tumour. The Thromboelastograph is used in testing the clotting properties of the blood sample.
The machine reduces the testing time for multiple blood tests from 4-5 hours to 30 minutes. Each equipment is expected to benefit around 300-400 patients at the Hospital.

The Rotary Club of Mumbai Mahim (RCMM) is a vibrant Rotary Club with 35 plus members from diverse sections of society, each a leader in their chosen profession, be it medicine, engineering, business, education, arts, commerce etc. This blend of talent coupled with dedication to the Rotary motto of Service above Self, drives the Club to associate with professional and philanthropic organisations like tkIS India. The projects undertaken by the Club give a great sense of satisfaction to the members of RCMM who have been able to contribute to the Rotary ideal of providing unmatched service to the community all round, without any distinction of caste/creed/religion/gender.
The Club is active in a number of areas including Health, Education, Medical Care, Sanitation and Vocational Services. The end result of their efforts, as the Club sees it, would be a change in the level of education, access to modern amenities and health care, which could improve and save lives, and thereby equip the beneficiary in acquiring knowledge and life-enabling skills and become a contributing member of society.

The newly-formed Rotary Club of Bombay East has taken up potable Water and Sanitation as their key thrust areas. The decision to pursue this is a result of the various programmes organised by the Rotary, which has been instrumental in carrying out various programs in the water space under their program “Rotary India Wins”. One of the key features of this campaign is to
Government alone cannot solve the problems we deal with in our correctional facilities, treatment centers, homeless shelters and crisis centers - we need community partners.
Established in the year 1990, the Rotary Club of Hillside Pune has grown leaps and bounds over the years in terms of members, donors, sectors served and donations. In keeping with the Rotary spirit, the Club has established its Interact and Early Act Clubs for young Rotarians. The Club presently has 39 members and is active in a number of community projects, including Health Check-ups, Medical Camps, Community Projects like solar power, toilet blocks and orphanages, Education Support, Awareness Programmes on Traffic, Health etc. Health check-ups and Medical Camps / aid have covered blood donation, eye check-ups, polio eradication,
haemoglobin check-ups and donation of ambulances and medical equipment. Education support has covered distribution of laboratory equipment, school materials and felicitation of promising and well-performing students. The focus of the Club however, is Water Projects, where they have done considerable work on water bodies involving excavation, desilting, rain water harvesting, percolation tanks etc. Some of these projects have been done in cooperation with other Clubs. In 2015, the Club celebrated 25 years of its promulgation.
ensure that Government Schools have a set of functioning and well-maintained water, sanitation and hygiene facilities.
This led to the Club’s association with tkIS India and the installation of 57 water purification units in Municipal Schools in Mumbai.

As organisations take up the cue of the Government of India to spend a part of their profits on the social sectors of India, they are increasingly finding huge gains for themselves in a number of areas. Take the case of our own organisation.
Over the last three years, investing in CSR with commitment and zeal has proved a real boon. Let us start with our decision to pursue grassroot projects in the field of Healthcare. Focused on our decision to reach our donations directly to the point of need, we have helped municipal hospitals doing wonderful work, despite the paucity of funds at their disposal. We did the same for academic institutions furthering the cause of education of key sectors in society. thyssenkrupp has always had a reputation of reaching out to the needy, and this has proved another good avenue to contribute our mite to society. Yes, CSR has helped us keep our philanthropic calling alive.
But the greatest benefit has been the sense of purpose and fulfilment the projects have generated amongst our colleagues who have been working on the various CSR modules. While many of our colleagues are known to do their bit for society in their own small way on a personal level, the projects, which have been run exclusively and voluntarily by them, have given them a chance to channelize this call to serve society in a structured, formal manner. With each passing project their commitment grew exponentially and beyond the call of duty.
Every project has proved an exercise in goodwill and relationship-building. The medical staff and teaching staff at the hospitals and educational institutions have been touched to the core with the donations. Every project has created special bonds with them - many of them now refer to us as family! Our Projects Partners - the various Rotary Clubs - have been equally fulfilled to see their philanthropic avocation fructify. Our colleagues who have volunteered and worked on the projects, can’t seem to get enough of the action. And most importantly, the end users of our donations, the patients and the students, on the occasions that we could meet them, are genuinely benefitted.
It pleases us to look back at our journey, which starts every year with the identification of projects. Over time, we have successfully covered many segments and many beneficiaries. Looking back, we have been privileged to extend help to infants, challenged children, students, working people and middle-aged patients.
Our Journey has left us all invigorated and inspired, energised and enthused.
Its what we have come to recognise as the Joy of Giving!
‘The overall experience did not just hone my skills; it broadened my perspective on life. Activities such as these make you aware about the conditions that people live in, yet still manage to be happy.’

Working on the CSR projects has helpedme to understand the needs of peopleless fortunate than me !
“During the AV room project for special children, I realised how privileged we are to have a normal childhood and upbringing. I was amazed by the efforts put in by these schools to bring special children at par with others. I also would like to salute the dedication of the teaching staff and principal of the school to enthusiastically participate in finalising the interiors of the AV room.”
Vaishali Upadhyay of Civil headed the Audio Visual Equipment project for Sulabha School
“We not only supplied the Water Purifiers, but also provided the school with an Annual Maintenance Contract covering four years to ensure that the Water Purifiers in the school are always functional. This CSR project taught us one important thing: Helping the needy is good, but not enough. Ensuring sustainability in the same is a must.”
Hemant Nagda of Process headed the Water Purifiers project for MCGM Schools
“My team and I have many vivid memories of our work on our CSR project. But we were most edified by the humility, simplicity, and humane approach of all the doctors, especially Dr Prafulla Kerkar who heads the Cardiac Dept. of the most prestigious civic hospital of the state. Both he and the doctors he entrusted, worked hand in hand with us to realise the projects. We had a similar experience in the earlier year as well, which goes to show the seriousness with which they approach their work.”
Sadashiv Salian of Planning headed the ETO Sterilizer project for KEM Hospital
“Working on my CSR project has been one of the most enriching experiences of my life. Not only have I been exposed to the section of society that truly yearns for help, but I have also become more aware of how fortunate I have been throughout my own life. It has given me the opportunity of giving back to society as well. For a while, I was the driver of change that I wished to see in the world.”
Komal Shah of Instrumentation worked on the Anesthesia Workstation project for Lokmanya Tilak Hospital
“The Toilet Block CSR project for the Zilla Parishad School at Dahanu was conceptualised with the wish that every school should have a toilet with a separate toilet block for girls. Being a distant location, there were considerable challenges. Yet providing a basic sanitary system which hitherto was not available, was the single-most important factor which kept inspiring us, while helping us maintain a high level of self-satisfaction.”
Santosh Varak & Milind Desai of Civil teamed up on the Dahanu School Toilet Block project
‘Getting help when you need it most, is always relieving! Early in my life I received help, and thanks to that, I am here today. The thing that motivates me is to see someone who deserves such help reach the heights in his career & life. If my company and my contribution helps in this process, I am happy.’
