Dear Friends in Christ,

We welcome the Vicar of Christ, Pope Francis to the United States of America! May he find

his visit to be one of love for Jesus and great respect of his person as the Successor of Saint

Peter. Some of you may be going to the events over the weekend or may be watching it from your living

room. Our parish will be streaming the events in our school gymnasium so that we can celebrate together.

Perhaps you may want to get together with family members, friends and neighbors. Enter into his visit with

prayer and a great joy in the blessing of our Catholic faith confirmed in the pope. Pray for the Pope as he

carries the great burden of shepherding the world. Dios lo bendiga, Santo Padre! Confirma nuestra fe en

Jesucristo!

Viva el Papa!

Father Szolack

GOD BLESS AMERICA!

God bless our men and women who

put their lives on the line to preserve freedom around

the world. We thank God for our good fortune to be

citizens of the USA. We continue to pray for our men

and women overseas especially, Justin Gousha, Shawn

Jarrell, Becky & Nick Johnson, Martin Renzi, Brian

Simmons, Rob Solome, Sarah Turse, Chris Fusco,

Charity Winkler, Brian Schwartz and Josh Little. If

someone has returned home, we ask that you let us

know. Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands.

Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their

families for the selfless acts they perform in our time

of need. We ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen House of Charity

Employee Giving/United Way

Many businesses will begin their Employee Giving

Campaigns this month and continue to solicit donations

through the fall months. This campaign gives us an op-

portunity to direct our donations to the charities that

best represents our beliefs, interests and social concerns.

Ask your employer for a pledge card and be sure to: 1)

In the donor Choice Section, designate the “House of

Charity”; 2) Ask to be acknowledged! This ensures our

parish will receive credit toward our House of Charity

goal. 3) If the agency requests a code for your donor

choice - these codes may be found on the House of

Charity website under “Employee Giving Campaign”

and in the Catholic Star Herald.

Your donation to our House of Charity helps to

build, support and maintain many programs, minis-

tries and services throughout our parishes and com-

munities. These programs save lives and build fu-

tures. Thank you so much for your past, present

and future support of our House of Charity fund-

raising campaign.

40 Days of Francis: Pope Francis Has Arrived!

Pope Francis quote of the week: “Poverty calls us to sow hope. . . . Poverty is the flesh of the poor Jesus, in that

child who is hungry, in the one who is sick, in those unjust social structures.”

Knot of the week: 19% of children living in the Diocese of Camden live below the federal poverty line. 12% of

the Diocese’s total population lives in poverty.

The Pope has arrived in Philadelphia! We joyfully conclude 40 Days of Francis in the Diocese of

Camden by welcoming the Holy Father and his message of love and service to the poor to our

neighboring city. Let us continue to sow hope throughout the Diocese of Camden as we respond

to the cry of the poor. Information on how you can continue to stay connected to Catholic Chari-

ties will be available at CatholicCharitiesCamden.org/40Days.
