Infant Observation Program We are looking for families due to have a baby before the end of August to participate in ‘Infant Observation’. This will mean having a student visiting your family in the home for 1 hour each week throughout your baby’s first year (up to 36 visits). Our students are all professionals working in the field of health and human psychological development and who are currently undertaking postgraduate training in psychotherapy. Ideally, you would meet with the student before your baby is born, to make sure you are comfortable with him or her. Psychotherapists and counselors need to understand how normal, everyday families introduce their new members to the world around them. Watching a new human being as he or she encounters new people, relationships and all the other things that make up the world is a unique experience, and one that deepens the psychotherapist’s understanding of human life. This is especially important for psychotherapists who want to work with parents and children. The aim of infant observation is to observe the everyday life of a baby in his/her family environment to learn about the emotional, social, and physical development of infants. The trainee will visit regularly at a time that is mutually convenient, preferably while the baby is awake. During the visits the trainee will see how your baby develops all his or her capacities over time.

Infant Observation Program

We are looking for families due to have a baby before the end of August to participate in ‘Infant Observation’.

The trainees will come to regular supervision meetings to discuss the things they are noticing about the developing baby.

The confidentiality of the family is paramount and is respected by all students. Families can also withdraw their permission at any time.

If you would like to participate, or would like to know more about Infant Observation please contact Dr Caroline Zanetti or Anne Clifford at the Elizabeth Clinic on 9384 4565 or email: [email protected]
