Business keeps getting better
every year for JT’s Tasty
Treats Café, located on the
main beach at Blackstrap
Lake. As the business comes
into its fourth year of
operation, owner Josh Turner
stated, ‘This summer has
been the best by far” . He
attributes the huge beach
turnout to Saskatchewan
Provincial Parks’ advertising
campaign this year, which is
drawing more people to the
lake.
This year Josh has served
travel bloggers and has
witnessed aerial drones
taking pictures. He has also
seen a new addition on the
lake front, the Aquatic
Adventures Inflatable
Waterpark.
The main beach is set-up for
all visitors who bring nothing
but their water wear.
Two more staff members
have been hired this year,
along with returning
employee Anita Dirksen. The
new staff are local teenagers
to help at the café so that
Josh can cruise through the
park in JT’s ice cream van to
the campgrounds.
Guests at the park’s main
beach suit up to enjoy the
newly added waterpark which
offers 13 on-water

And when people are
finished at the waterpark
or swimming, JT’s Tasty
Treats is there to quench
your thirst or feed your
hunger.
Next year, Josh has plans
of expansion by building a
roof top patio and a
licensed Tiki Bar that will
mimic the Polynesian
theme of JT’s.
For those who venture to
the lake this summer, the
Café is open Thursday to
Sunday from
12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The waterpark is open seven days per week from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. pending good weather.

Dundurn Fire Department
—————————————
This spring and summer has seemed to bring an extra number of windy days. A recent call to Dundurn Fire was the result of a tree coming in contact with over-head power wires as caused by of one of those windy days causing arcing and certainly the potential for a serious fire.
The power was temporarily
disconnected by SaskPower whose crew, along with DFD members, removed the entangled branches of the tree.
SaskPower reports around 2,000 power outages a year happen because trees touch or grow to close to the power lines. Trees don’t have to physically touch an energized power line to be dangerous. Electricity can arc from the power line to nearby trees given the right conditions.
If your see sparking where a tree branch is near or coming in contact with a powerline call 9-1-1 as there is a potential for fire, DFD will respond, cordon off the area, prepare for any possible resulting fire and make contact and arrangements with SaskPower. Do not try to move or remove the branches and do not go in the vicinity of the tree.
If the powerline has come down do not go near it as it will be energized. If tree branches are
touching or growing too close to a power line, SaskPower will come out and trim them for free.
For your safety, please don’t attempt to trim a tree yourself. A tree trimming request can be done online at
https://www.saskpower.com/Forms/Tree-Trimming-Request-Form or by calling SaskPower at 310-2220.
Disposal of trimmed tree branches is the responsibility of the landowner.

Blackstrap Provincial Park, also in the Saskatoon Stonebridge-Dakota constituency, is always an exciting place to visit. New to the Park this year is the Aquatic Adventures Inflatable Waterpark, which offers 13 on-water challenges for adventure seekers to jump through slides, climb bridges and swing or flip into Blackstrap Lake. The waterpark will be open seven days per week from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. pending good weather. Please check out https://www.saskaquaticadventures.com/our-parks/black-strap for more information.
Blackstrap Provincial Park will also offer two drive-in movie nights on Saturday, August 22 and Friday, September 11. Visitors to the Park are encouraged to share their photos on social media using #saskparks, for a chance to be featured on the SaskParks website and social platforms.
Finally, our Government’s Re-Open Saskatchewan plan continues to work with businesses returning to full operations. Casinos, bingo halls and rodeos may now resume. Starting July 16, live music and entertainment could also, once again, be enjoyed in local venues. Seating areas are now being permitted at drive-in theatres, as well as public and farmers markets. Guidelines for the second half of Phase 4 are now available on Saskatchewan.ca. These include: temporary food vendor guidelines; racing and rodeo guidelines; banquet and conference facility guidelines; and car and trade show guide-lines. Guidelines for door-to-door solicitation, items by donation and garage sales are currently being developed. Enjoy your summer, Saskatchewan. Have fun and stay safe!
