Casual Education Support Officers & Assessors

The TPD casual role is required. SAP provides a position/assignment to TPD to display as a role in TPD for each teaching section for all casuals.

The employee must have ESO and/or ASSR assignment in SAP, and a position in each Teaching Section that the Casual ESO/ASSR employee is supporting. (This is standard process for all casuals and the timetables will load to each position appropriately via interface).

The activities recorded for Casual ESO and Assessor are:

Direct Contact

Administration and Consultation Duties

Hours of Work –

Casual Education Support Officers and Assessors shall be engaged and paid on an hourlybasis.

Education Support Officers and Assessors will be engaged and paid for a minimum of 2consecutive hours for each day worked.

Rates of Pay –

Casual Education Support Officers and Assessors shall be paid the ordinary hourly rate of pay calculated by the following formula for the hours worked per day:

Annual salary divided by 52.17857 divided by ordinary weekly hours for the classification

Loadings specified in this clause are in recognition of the casual nature of the employment and compensate the Casual Education Support Officers and Assessor for all leave other than long service leave, and all incidence of employment and shall be paid on the appropriate ordinary hourly rate of pay as follows:

Loading Rate % Work Performed On

25 Mondays to Fridays (inclusive)

50 Saturdays.

75 Sundays

150 public holidays.

Note: If the employee does not have ordinary hours of work on a public holiday, the employee is not entitled to payment. For example, the employee is a casual employee who is not programmed on for the public holiday, or is a part-time employee whose part-time hours do not include the day of the week on which the public holiday occurs. Payment for a public holiday is only paid where a casual Assessor /ESO has a regular defined approved program that spans the period in which the public holiday falls and ordinary hours were scheduled for that day.

Casual rates of pay are available as wage types in SAP. TPD will send the relative number of hours for each wage type to SAP for payroll purposes.

The casual rates for ESO and Assessors differ from part time casual teaching rates.
