EXTRUSION 4.0
November 2017
INFORMATION FOR BUSINESS PARTNERS
Dear Business Partners,
We are now on the home stretch of a successful year in 2017 and are taking a look back at many interesting projects and challenges that we were able to master together with you. Our creed is to develop the right solution for you in every project, whether for window and door profiles, technical profiles, cable ducts, WPC profiles, foam profiles, lighting systems, swimming pool covers, gutters, and much more.
Nothing is more expensive than production downtimeKeeping the lines in production is the avowed objective of every extrusion company, because every single minute of machine downtime involves high costs. Extrusion equipment plays a central role here. Our systems offer you the highest level of process reliability while at the same time giving high output. You achieve the best profile quality at the lowest cost, and with the maximum plant availability factor at that!
Material as the most important cost factorThe use of materials is undoubtedly where the greatest savings potential in the plastics processing industry are. With innovative solutions from the Greiner Extrusion Group, your extrusion process will save even more on materials and will be controlled with greater stability. Extrude at the lowest profile weight tolerance and achieve minimum wastage.
Try us out!We invite you to come and be convinced of the performance and benefits of our extrusion solutions. Take advantage of the extensive possibilities in one of our six technical facilities across Europe, America or Asia, with a total of

What does Industry 4.0 actually mean?Industry 4.0 is the term for modern technology and production in the age of digital revolution. Industry 4.0 is not only just arriving – we are already in the middle of the 4th industrial revolution when it comes to tangible developments. In many companies, it has long been impossible to produce without big data and the interconnection of processes. It is about close data interconnectivity between humans, machines, products or services, possibly over several process steps. Above all, the digital revolution increases productivity. Industrial companies produce significantly more efficiently, and the error rate decreases. Compared to the automotive industry, to take an example, the extrusion sector is only just beginning when it comes to the development of complex digitisation, automation and interconnectivity, and yet many parameters can already be automatically controlled, even now.
With Greiner Extrusion Group, you can already...
… safely produce at near the lowest profile weight tolerance
The use of materials is the biggest cost factor in the extrusion process. The potential for reducing profile costs is accordingly high. Together with us, you define all tolerances and the lowest metre weight, and we guarantee you reduced material usage in the profile through exact adherence to the tolerance specification.
… control your extrusion process
Greiner Extrusion Group is successfully on the way to automation and already offers very effective systems for controlling extrusion plants. With systems such as FLOW.CONTROL, Air support control, and GESS.tronic, maximum dimensional accuracy and considerable material and energy savings are achieved.
… monitor the production data of your profiles and save them for 100% reproducibility
Using the SPS control of RED.LINE, the Greiner energy-saving system GESS.tronic, or FLOW.CONTROL pro, your production data is monitored and managed. 100% reproducibility is guaranteed.
The future is digital
Digitisation or Industry 4.0 – a trend that does not stop at the extrusion industry either. The ultimate goal is an automated extrusion process where, among other things, all relevant process parameters can be digitally recorded, monitored, and reproduced at the push of a button during the next production. In-line quality assurance (profile measurement, weight measurement, surface measurement...) and in-line process optimisation with regard to materials, personnel and energy use to further increase performance will be unavoidable.

Greiner Extrusion Lines for CSR’s AFS Rediwall® System
CSR Limited is a leading building products manufacturer in Australia and New Zealand. CSR have recently further invested in their AFS Rediwall® PVC product with the Greiner Extrusion Group being appointed to deliver extrusion lines with inline-punching as well as extrusion tooling.
INLINE
PUNCHING
AFS Rediwall® is a PVC-based permanent formwork system for concrete walls. The extruded components click or slide together to create a concrete formwork erected with maximum efficiency. Rediwall® requires almost no machinery-aided installation. In fact, installations can be undertaken without any training. And with its high quality semi-gloss finish it requires no additional finishing for most applications.Suitable as a tough load bearing solution for building subterranean structures such as basements and retention tanks, it can also be utilized for overhead applications such as party walls, columns and retaining walls, making it a truly versatile solution.

35 Air support controls for VEKA
The latest delivery of 35 Greiner Air support controls to VEKA AG in Sendenhorst shows that innovations of the Greiner Extrusion Group are well received. Air support controls ensure a fully monitored, quantity-controlled internal chamber ventilation during production. The supplied air flow ensures a uniform internal chamber geometry and avoids rejects due to glued webs. This can lead to demonstrable savings during the start-up and production phases. Upon deviation of the expanding air volume, an automatic "red" message allows a rapid corrective reaction. This signal can also be output to an external flashing light. Upon VEKA's request and without further consideration, Air support control systems were equipped with magnets so that they could be attached to machines.

FLOW.CONTROL for new pool cover made of PVC and polycarbonate from PRIMO
The current development of PRIMO, a system for pool covers made of PVC and polycarbonate, imposes high functional and design requirements.
For the rolling cover profiles to interleave smoothly, they must provide exact dimensional accuracy, especially with respect to hooks. FLOW.CONTROL ensures that such necessary functional dimensions are provided by controlling the relevant profi le sections. "With certain profi les, FLOW.CONTROL is indispensable to meet the high requirements imposed on profile geometries. What is more, FLOW.CONTROL drives total profile costs down via considerable material savings, lower reject volume, and shortened start-up times. This a l l ows us t o o f f e r env i ronmen ta l l y f r i end l y and resou rce - sav i ng solutions to our customers”, says Harald Möllenkamp, Operations Manager at PRIMO. PRIMO develops, manufactures and sells extruded plastic profiles for products of many industries such as construction, electronics, energy, furniture, shipping, medical technology, lighting, offshore, power plants, transportation, household appliances, windows and doors, and many more.

20 extrusion tools for the Salamander Group
In cooperation with the company tta – Tool Tech Austria GmbH & Co. KG, a subsidiary of the Salamander Group – the Greiner Extrusion Group was able to realise an interesting window profiles project for Salamander. Starting with first talks in the fourth quarter of 2016, over a period of 10 months, more than 20 extrusion tools, manufactured and pre-coordinated by Greiner Shanghai, were delivered in Brest, Belarus. The SIP subsidiary coordinated the activities between the Greiner Extrusion Group and the SIP's extrusion plant in Belarus, from planning and implementation right up to success-ful completion of the project. The profiles are intended for the Indian market.
The Salamander groupTool Tech Austria GmbH & Co. KG is part of the Salamander Group, a majority family-owned group of companies. With its headquarters in Türkheim/Unterallgäu, the Salamander Group's plastics business operates in the business areas of: windows & doors, technical profiles, panelling, fences and facades.
"We have been collaborating with Greiner Extrusion for many decades. We appreciate the long-term partnership, particularly because this helps to meet individual development requirements. Upon VEKA's request and without further consideration, Air support control systems were equipped with magnets so that they could be attached to machines. VEKA and Greiner boast over 25 years of supplier / customer relationship, confirmed through the delivery of more than 1,000 extrusion tools. In Production, we eagerly anticipate the upgrade of our production lines with Air support controls, and look forward to many more years of collaboration", says Peter Ernemann, Production Manager at VEKA AG.
