London Stansted is our nearest airport. Transfer time 30 minutes. 3.We have a team of trained and experienced staff at the airport who will ensure the safety of your child. Your child’s flight must arrive between 09.00 and 17.00. 4.We will meet, greet and escort your child to the College as part of our standard service. Flight arrivals are ONLY on the days specified in the Terms & Conditions 5.Your son or daughter will ring you to tell you that all is well on arrival. POCKET MONEY 1. Plan for between £30.00 and £50.00 per week, depending on age and maturity. 2. Pocket money can be sent by bank transfer with the fees, or with the child. 3. Pocket money can be deposited in the School Bank. 4. The School Bank opens to students, twice a week, Tuesday and Friday. 5. It is a good idea to plan for money for presents or special purchases. 6. It is also a good idea to send your instructions about your child’s spending. For example: ‘£30.00 per week and £50.00 for presents’ or ‘£40.00 per week and the rest for clothes and presents’. TELEPHONING 1. Parents should be aware that students are very busy and spend a lot of time out on activities. 2. Children usually return to their rooms just before bedtime. Mobiles are turned off during programmed activities. 3. Summer School students have a wonderful time and rarely feel homesick. However, too many calls from home can spoil a child’s natural ability to fit in and enjoy itself. 4. It is probably best to wait for your child to ring you during the course and not call them. 5. If you have no phone calls during the course – don’t worry, experience tells us that this is a good sign that your son or daughter is having a great time! 6. If you are worried about anything or would like a brief report on your child, you may ring the the School Office: +44 (0)1920 824 301 . 7. If your child is sick, the Infirmary: +44 (0)1920 824234. THE FLIGHT

CHECK LIST FOR PARENTS

BAGGAGE

l One lockable suitcase which is not too big for the child to manage.l One small knap-sack suitable for carrying a packed lunch and shopping.

l One money belt and water bottle.

CLOTHES

It is useful to name clothing.l A light weight waterproof jacket.l Sports clothes.l Swimwear/goggles/cap.l Comfortable walking shoes/trainers.l A warm top and jeans, in case it gets cold.l Smart outfit to wear to the theatre.

PERSONAL ITEMS

All materials for academic study are provided.l One swimming towel one bath towel, and one hand towel.l One hand towel.l Warm pyjamas and bath robe.l Hairdryer (if required).l Adapter for 240 volt - 3 pin plug (if required).l Camera.l Shower bag and toilet kit.l Musical instrument if preferred.

CAUTION

It is best for the children not to bring very expensive items as children have a busy programme andthings are easily mislaid. We advise against expensive mobile phones for this reason.Any pharmaceuticals sent with the child must be handed in to reception, unless for asthma.You must disclose any medical conditions or previous medical history.

BEHAVIOUR

We take very good care of your children; they are supervised 24 hours of the day.The Summer School is avery happy place and therefore we do not allow bad language, chewing gum, drinking, drugs, fighting,sexual activity or smoking. Please make sure that your son or daughter understands this before departure and understands that any students with unacceptable behaviour will be sent home.

CONTACTING YOUR CHILD

We ask all new students to contact their parents on arrival at the College. Please note that duringthe course your child will be fully occupied on a full programme of lessons and activities and therefore we recommend that you wait for your child to contact you to avoid disappointment.You may send email messages to your child at the address below and your child will have access tothe internet. We recommend that telephone calls are kept short and to a minimum and that youshould be happy, positive and avoid the subject of missing home. Mobiles are turned off during programmed activities.

VISITORS & VISITING THE COLLEGE

For your peace of mind the College has thorough safety and security systems to protect your childduring its stay. We regret that we are unable to accommodate any visitors to the campus. This isfor child protection and College Security reasons. Parents who wish to drop off or pick up children atthe beginning or end of a course should inform the College and check in on arrival.
