About the SchemeThis salary sacrifice scheme is provided by UHMB in partnership with EmployeeChoice. The scheme offers UHMB a convenient and cost-effective way to access the latest technology and mobile devices whilst saving on tax and national Insurance.

How to place your orderTo place an order on the site, you will need to create your own password protected account. To browse the site, simply view the products by category on the main menu bar or enter your preference in the search box. Once you are in the product details page you will see important information including the overall effect on your take home pay. The system by default will assume you are a basic rate tax payer. If you pay tax at the higher rate please select the higher rate tab on the Tax Saving demonstration box.

DeliveriesDeliveries will commence once your order has been approved and you have signed and returned the electronic hire agreement we will send you. Please note a 14 day cooling off period applies should you change you mind. Orders that have passed the cooling off period will be despatched on a weekly basis. Whilst we will endeavor to deliver your goods within the delivery window, dates may vary due to stock levels and availability.

Acceptance of Terms & ConditionsThe Terms and Conditions allow us to arrange payments for your chosen options via your gross pay. If you have any questions about the offers, delivery arrangements or how to complete your agreement you can email the team via [email protected] quoting your name, phone and your order number if applicable. EmployeeChoice will also help you if you have any issues with your new equipment or if you need advice on what to choose.

Maximum Order ValueThe maximum order value for this scheme is £3,000. You can make savings of up to 30% off RRP.

Common FAQs

Why has my Employer set up the Technology Benefit scheme? The scheme is designed to make up-to-date computing and/or mobile phone equipment available to staff for personal use. We are keen to see all staff develop their IT skills.

Who is EmployeeChoice? We are operating this programme in partnership with EmployeeChoice, who have an excellent track record of operating similar programmes with a wide range of other organisations, across the private sector, education, local government and health. They will source the products from the suppliers, negotiate the best price deals, and take the orders via this online web portal which they have tailored for us as part of your benefits package.

How does the Benefit Scheme work? The scheme makes technology products available to the employee for their own use. The equipment is provided for personal use. Your employer will own the equipment, but charges you for the use of the equipment. At the end of the benefit period, you will be given the option to keep the equipment, or end the agreement and have it collected.

What is “Salary Exchange”? Salary exchange or Salary sacrifice means you agree to exchange a portion of your gross salary for the equipment. Your gross salary is then adjusted each month to match the payment required for the goods over an agreed time period. As the monthly repayment cost is deducted directly from your gross salary – before you pay tax and National Insurance - this should lead to savings compared with paying for the same goods from your net pay.

Am I eligible to take part in this programme? This benefit is open to all staff that meet the eligibility criteria:• You must be an employee of the organisation running this

scheme• You must have a contract of employment with extends

beyond the projected end of the payment period for the equipment

• You must be at least 18 years old• You must be earning in excess of the minimal wage, after the

monthly payment is deducted from your gross salary

Can I order more than one mobile phone? No, you may only one unit. i.e one phone per employee.

Does the mobile phone I select have to be returned at the end of the scheme? Yes – you will need to return the handset at the end of the term. However would anticipate you will have the option to re-join a new scheme for a further 2 years to make further savings and to get a new handset.

How much will the products cost me and what are the savings? The cost of each product is set out in the online website. You will see the full cost of the item, the monthly deductions that would be made to your gross salary, and an estimate of the likely additional saving you would make on Tax & National Insurance as a result of the use of salary exchange. We also provide a close estimate of how much your take home pay will change in exchange for the equipment.

Is there a limit on how much I can spend? Yes. You can choose any products up to the amount of £3,000 this allows you a huge choice of equipment. If you have participated in past schemes the previous spend will also be factored into the total limit. ie if you spent £1,000 before, your limit will be reduced by this amount less the repayments you have already made.

When will the products be delivered?

Deliveries will commence once you have signed and returned your electronic hire agreement and the cooling off period has passed. Deliveries past the cooling off period will be made on a weekly basis during the scheme.

Can I change my mind once I have signed the agreement? Yes, on signing you will have a 14 day cooling off period in which you can withdraw from the programme. You will need to notify EmployeeChoice by email of your decision to withdraw– [email protected]. After the cooling off period, you will no longer be able to change your mind and will be committed for the full agreement period.

Can I have the product(s) delivered to my workplace? No, to ensure proof of receipt we need to deliver to your home. Please ensure you give the right email and phone details including mobile phone - to EmployeeChoice via the online website so that they can contact you and deliver to your home. Without correct information, your delivery may be delayed. EmployeeChoice will not use your personal information for any other purpose.

What is the repayment period? The repayment period on this scheme is 24 Months.

My employment is due to cease before the end of the agreement period, can I still participate? No. If your current contract of employment does not cover the whole of the repayment period, your order cannot be accepted.

Does this offer make a difference to any other benefits such as maternity pay? The payments are based on a salary exchange arrangement, so can affect other entitlements under your contract of employment. If unsure please email [email protected] or view the full set of FAQS on the Scheme Website.
