Information on the MM mechanics meeting

Würzburg University is pleased to host the

Micromegas Mechanics Meeting January 2014

By plane:

- via Frankfurt International Airport (FRA)Direct fast train (ICE) connection from Frankfurt Fernbahnhof (located at the airport) to Würzburg main station in 1:30h, running every hour*.

- via Airport Nürnberg (NUE)Reaching Nürnberg main station via Subway U2 (15 min), continuing to Würzburg with ICE (55 min, running every full hour*) or regional train (1:10h, every ‘half past’*).

By train:

- Good fast train (ICE) connection from e.g. Munich (2h, direct),

Paris (6h, 1 change), Geneva (7h, 2-3 changes).

- Train tickets can be purchased online1.), at the station2.),

and onboard of fast trains (ICE and IC only!) 3.)

- Seat reservation is not obligatory and not included, without

reservation seat is not guaranteed.

The city center of Würzburg offers plenty of affordable hotels and guest houses, which can be found via the common internet portals (booking.com, hrs.de etc.).

It is recommended to stay in the city center near e.g. Barbarossa Platz, Juliuspromenade. (Easy access to Public transportation to University Campus)

City Center

The Institute of particle physics (Emil-Hilb Weg 22) and the ‘Didaktik- und Sprachen-zentrum’ (Matthias Lexer Weg 25), where the meetings will take place, are located on the Campus ‘Hubland Nord’.

How to get to the University?

Bus line 14 runs from the main bus terminal near the Station and the ‘Barbarossa Platz’ (city) to the stop ‘Am Hubland’, at the entrance to the campus ‘Hubland Nord’.

The lines 114 and 214 run to the stops ‘Philosophisches Institut’ and ‘Universitätszentrum / Hubland Mensa’, 5 min walking distance to the campus ‘Hubland Nord’.

Line 10 runs from ‘Sanderring’ (border of city center) directly through the Campus ‘Hubland Nord’ , with final stop at the ‘Didaktik- und Sprachenzentrum’.

For the evening of Thursday 30th January a collective social dinner is planned at a typical franconian restaurant and winary, the
