• Blackboard Learn academic course sites deleted after 3 years

• Alternative storage will be offered for 7 years• Policy effective fall 2012• Aligns with policies of peer institutions

Why is a retention policy required?

• To improve Blackboard performance Maximize storage reliability and performance Minimize downtime by reducing storage

consumption and future storage growth• Reduce associated costs related to long-term

storage maintenance• Reduce the need for staff resources allocated

to maintaining out-of-date systems currently storing old content

IT Services will:

• Create a custom form to archive each course, including student data, to Razorvault Course content will be maintained in Razorvault

for 7 years Course content can be restored to Blackboard on

request• Notify faculty when courses are scheduled to

be deleted• Provide Razorvault training and support
