HUB AIRPORT DIFFERENTIATIONVIA SMOOTH AND EFFICIENT BAG REFLIGHTINGMishandled baggage has beenestimated to cost airports, theirairlines, and ground handlers over$3bn each year. Furthermore, thereputational damage from passengerswho suffer mishandled bags is longlived and widely voiced causingfurther detriment to airports andairlines. Resolving the operationalissues caused by mishandled bags isvery complex and costly. The UltraTrakReflight module enables hub airportsto truly differentiate themselvesthrough the provision of smooth andefficient bag reflighting services.

IMPROVED PASSENGEREXPERIENCE AT LESS COST TO THE OPERATORCustomer studies have shown thatthe UltraTrak Reflight modulereduced process time by more than90% for baggage reflighting;improving efficiency and savingmoney by minimising the number ofprocess steps needed to reflight abag. Customers using UltraTrakReflight are finding their reputation isenhanced following direct feedbackfrom passenger’s who are delightedto find their bags have made it withthem following very short transfers.A customer who had previouslyprocessed all their reflights at the endof the shift has found that UltraTrakReflight enables them to processbags continuously throughout theday. Consequently when passengersreach their destination they find thatwhilst their bag had missed itsconnection it is already on its way.

The passenger then has the choice ofwaiting at the airport to collect theirbags, which can reduce repatriationcosts, or having their bag delivered tothem when it arrives. This speed andefficiency both impresses thepassenger and protects the airlinesreputation. At one European hub, upto 70% of bags are reflightedautomatically or via a remotereflighting screen without everrequiring extra handling.
