OUR IDEA

The music video is based on the secondary era of our lifetime where teenagers where getting themselves into serious relationships. This story is about a female whom everyone has a crush on, yet is taken by a very popular pupil. However one day a guy which has a crush on her recognizes burses all over her body. The moral of the story is to show that we don’t know what happens behind closed doors. we wish to use the touching story, the song and the slit screen technique to evoke emotion from the audience. We would use the spilt screen to show on one side of what people think her life is like and the reality of her life.

Camera techniques

• Wide shot – This is were the artist is shown taking up most of the shot but the location/setting is still focused on

• Mid shot – this shows the artist from his/her waist to head, and focuses mainly on the subject but still giving an impression of the location/setting.

• Medium close up- this shot is halfway between a mid shot and a close up, showing the artist from chest to head.

• Close up – this shot shows the artists face or can show an object that the artist is holding, or something were the camera focuses closely on

• Extreme close-up – this shows the artists face extremely close , for example eyes, or mouth to identify something it can have the effect of showing the audience the artists thoughts and feelings or even showing a lip sync commonly used in music videos. #

• Over the shoulder shot – this is a good shot used , specifically in narrative based music videos usually when the artist is acting and speaking to another person you tend to see an over the shoulder shot to display the conversation , or to show something the character is looking at

Editing techniques

• Final cut pro is the music video editing software that we use to edit our music videos. Editing is the process that concludes the making of the music video. When you edit, you cut scenes down, add special effects and add the track to the music video etc.

• method of cutting between a couple of scenes or stories that are happening at the same time.) -Also, adding non- diegetic sound is also part of the editing.

• if it was a sad song then the video would also be sad. Some music videos have diegetic sound, where they include sound from the surroundings, such as birds, police sirens that make the video seem more realistic. However, the music itself is non-diegetic sound

J COLE CROCKED SMILE

The main reason as to why we were drawn to the idea of using this concept is because of the way that this theme really gives the viewers of the music video an emotive quality. The director of the video achieves this by taking us through the daily routine of the characters, which gives us a closer view of their lives and almost sets us off on the journey with them. In addition in this video we are shown the lives of two individual characters, and all this similar things that they do day to day. At the end of the music video the director shows us how the two lives merge and makes us feel emotive as we see the difference between the two when one character has their freedom taken away and the other is the one taking his freedom away. By doing this we make the video emotive and take the viewer on a journey with the

WALE- WHITE SHOES

This video shows the journey and the transformation, of how he worked to get the white shoes and ditched the old shoes, furthermore as an expression on the poverty in parts of America and how hard work can lift you out of your circumstances.

The emotion is shown through the losing of the shoes through it being stolen. The song is also used to evoke emotion from the audience as the slow melodic tone of the song helps the emotion to be portrayed

This music video used firstly the visual concept of the neglect of women as the main message of this music video. Again the slow melodic sound track is used to evoke emotion. The video used a constant black and white filter to also give a bland and plain feel, representing the emotions of the male representing the expressive role and the female in the reconstituted instrumental role played by the female.

How will the visual concept fit in

In order to provide our visual concept we will use a mixture of abstract and Social realism in with a variety of different overlapping shots and editing themFor a story telling effect. We aim to evoke emotion from the audience and use the touching story to encapsulate the viewer.
