INNER WEST

SOCIETY
Members Annual 2016
Message from the President
This was our first year meeting in the Malvern Hill Uniting Church Hall in Croydon. It has proved to be a good venue for conducting a range of hands-on exercises and has also helped build good social interaction over tea and biscuits during our break.
I’d like to thank our hard working executive team for their efforts this year and also acknowledge all our members for making our club the bastion of camaraderie that it is.
I hope you enjoy this Annual and the range of images our members have produced this year. You can get more information on our club and its members at:

May the light be with you,
Ashley Cooper PRESIDENT
Club Meetings
When: 8pm to 10pm on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month between February and November (inclusive)
Where: Malvern Hill Uniting Church Hall,
Corner Malvern Av and Murray St, Croydon
Welcome to the second IWPS Members Annual, which I
hope will become a club tradition. This e-book displays
some of the delightful, powerful and creative images from
our members across a range of genres.
IWPS comprises a growing and passionate group of
photographers. The club’s aim is to continually develop our
members’ photographic skills in a friendly, supportive
environment based on the sharing of knowledge and ideas.
The club caters for all skill levels and our activities are
designed to challenge and extend all our members’ abilities.
2016 was a very successful year. During the year we:
• held 24 meetings, shared between learning and judged
sessions
• had eight outings to various locations around Sydney
• conducted a portfolio programme mentored by a photo
industry professional
• held our fourth annual weekend away, heading north to
Stockton to explore Newcastle and the sand dunes
• further developed our social media presence
• decisively won our annual inter-club challenge against
Cronulla Sharks
Competitions
IWPS uses two internal competitions to encourage
participation and recognise excellence within the club.
The annual Category Winners are decided by the total
number of competition points received by each member in
that category over the year.
The Top Shot of the Year is a separate competition night in
November where all images that had been awarded a Merit
during the year are eligible for entry. A qualified judge then
determines which image, in each category, they feel is the
Top Shot of the Year.
