[2] IEDC Students Project, Virtual Startups and Product
The IEDC project consisted of the following steps:
Stage 1: Development of the project (Hardware/Software)
The projects started with thorough literature review about the selected topics. After
deliberation of the project requirements, the projects were developed under the guidance
of individual mentors.
Stage 2: Business Plan Report
This included finding information related not only to the technical aspects of the
projects but also about the resources required, the feasibility, expenditure to be incurred
and a thorough market survey. The feasibility of the company in different aspects was
summarized in the form of a business plan. They then went ahead to form their
companies and completed the formalities for the same. These activities were carried out
under the guidance of an internal and external mentor.
Stage 3: Company Formation
Each group formed its virtual startup company and developed a brochure for
highlighting their product.
All the students involved with the IEDC projects were put through intense training at
each stage of the project and were mentored to achieve their goal. Along the way they
were also imparted with the knowledge of how a company is formed and its functions.

Project: An electronic paper display with combined
functionalities of a writing board and a projector.
PixPlay Pvt. Ltd. was established in the year 2014-2015 by the promoters Viraj Malia, Jugal Gala
and Samiksha Gupta at Innovation & Entrepreneurship Development Centre, Sardar Patel Institute
Of Technology, Andheri(West),Mumbai.
The premier product of the company is TeCHart – An electronic writing board. In the past few
years, technological advancement has had little effect on the education industry with black boards
and projectors being in use since the very beginning. Our device ‘Techart’ incorporates features
and functions of both, a writing board and a projector, thus eliminating need for individual items. It
also provides a completely chalk free and ink free operation. Since Techart uses an electronic
paper display, it consumes minimal electric power. It works on the principle of electrophoration.
The bottom layer of the display contains black and white charged particles which get aligned on
the surface depending upon the charge induced by a stylus. The final product can take a screenshot
and store files and images on an external storage that is attached to it (e.g Pendrive) similar to a
personal computer.
