“Being a teacher on CIMB Niaga’s study car has some fundamental differences technically compared to being a teacher in a formal school. Substantially, it is the same in that it’s providing benefit and education to students. However, the field and teaching situation are different and that is a challenge for me. Even though I teach in different places and the conditions on the road challenge my patience because of the traffic congestion, it does provide its own value and experience.”

CIMB NIAGA STUDY CARCOOPERATION BETWEEN CIMB NIAGA AND YAYASAN CINTA ANAK BANGSA

As part of education-focused Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, CIMB Niaga and Yayasan Cinta Anak Bangsa (YCAB) implemented the CIMB Niaga Study Car program. this is a facility provided to students from selected elementary, to junior, senior and vocational high schools in Jakarta and tangerang to take part in free computer courses. All the learning activities take place in the car, which is mobile from place to place for comfort and practicality.

“We have experienced extraordinary benefit from the CIMB Niaga Study Car program as our students have been able to use the most up-to-date computer study materials to become more competent. We hope that the CIMB Niaga Study Car can come to the school three times a week to encourage the students who have not been able to benefit from the program yet. this cooperation can continue and the students can complete the program and become certified to show that they have completed the program and have a competence that those who have not taken part do not possess.”

I have also been introduced to computer applications and understand them now. At school, I only understand the theory and rarely have the chance to practice. On the CIMB Niaga Study Car, we are given theoretical understanding while practicing. thank you CIMB Niaga.”

“While we have been studying the computer course on the CIMB Niaga Study Car, we have progressed a lot in our ability to operate the programs within Microsoft Office. We are really grateful for the specialized teaching on the CIMB Niaga Study Car. Hopefully the CIMB Niaga Study Car will be able to continue teaching students at SMA Muhammadiyah 1 tangerang and other schools. thank you CIMB Niaga Study Car.”

“By joining the CIMB Niaga trip to visit the historical museums in Jakarta, I got to better understand things I had never learned in school. Even though we had to walk a long way for a long time and our feet hurt, it was really fun to see historical objects with our own eyes in the museum. It was very educational. the best thing was visiting the Elephant Museum, there were lots of antiques in there and I had never seen an actual antique before.”

“We were busy and didn’t get bored. Our friends from CIMB Niaga brought lots of great games with them that we played from leaving Pondok Kopi, to the National Monument and until we got home. the game made us excited and we had to be careful not to get caught by our CIMB Niaga friends. If we weren’t careful, we’d get eliminated and not win a prize. It was quite tiring going around Monas and the museums, but it was fun and we learned a lot! thank you CIMB Niaga for taking us on a trip round the Jakarta museums.”

CSR WISH LIST FOR EDUCATIONSTUDY AND RECREATION AT JAKARTA MUSEUMS

CIMB Niaga considers National Education Day as an opportunity to improve human qualities to create a strong and competitive national character. through the momentum of National Education Day, CIMB Niaga invited all its employees to submit their National Education Day-related dreams through the CSR Wish List for Education. CIMB Niaga granted the wish of Dhini Ayu Utami from the Retail Remedial & Recovery Group, whose dream was to conduct a Study and Recreation trip to the Jakarta Museums, which took place on 3 May 2014.

“At first the residents couldn’t believe CIMB Niaga’s planned activity to take the children in our area to Monas and the Jakarta museums. But when we received information from our neighborhood head and the children were picked up by CIMB Niaga, they were very enthusiastic. Initially 35 children were invited, but 43 took part. the program was enjoyable and as an assistant on the tour, I could see the children really enjoyed their trip and learned a lot at Monas and the museums. When we got home again, all the residents were asking me when would something like this happen again? thank you CIMB Niaga…”

“It was a pleasure to be given the change to take part in the process to make other people happy. Lots of simple things can be a source of happiness. Some of those less-fortunate than us consider recreation to be a rare opportunity; praise Allah, I had the opportunity to give a little happiness to others by inviting poor children to visit three museums in Jakarta. they were very enthusiastic and enjoyed every moment, while they gained a wider viewpoint beyond that of their normal environment and daily lives. the trip started with a visit to the National Monument (Monas) and continued to the National Museum (Elephant Museum) and ended with the Jakarta History Museum (Fatahillah Museum). they experienced many new things that had never crossed their minds, as well as life values that they could understand from visiting these museums.”

“By learning hydroponics, I have found out that actually planting the hydroponic way is very useful and easy to do, it only needs a little skill and patience and I am very happy with my new skill and can apply it. Planning hydroponically makes the environment fresher, green and reduces pollution, so if everyone in Jakarta, or even in Indonesia, did this, it would be really good for Indonesia’s environmental preservation.”

“thank you CIMB Niaga for holding the Hydroponic Seminar, having taken part I now know how to grow crops with simple planting media in a very limited space. this was a positive activity and very good to apply in daily life and I immediately wanted to put it into practice. If I am successful and my crop is satisfactory, I believe that hydroponic planting will be my new hobby and that I can spread this hobby to my friends. Starting as a hobby and with interest in hydroponics, this could become an entrepreneurial interest to sustain me in my retirement.”

“Learning to plant using hydroponics expanded my understanding and made me interested in trying this at home. Before I took part in the Hydroponics Seminar, I thought that planting was time consuming and needed lots of fertile land, in fact, now we can plant crops even without much land. I also know now that hydroponically grown plants are very useful to us and that planting like this reduces land use. Usually, if we plant on land there are lots of troublesome weeds…. and I’m too lazy to pull them out. Once again, this event was very interesting and inspired me to try it.”

HYDROPONIC SEMINARGRIYA CIMB NIAGA BINtARO, 28 FEBRUARY 2014

CIMB Niaga organized an environment seminar with the theme “Enhancing Awareness and Environment Conservation Effort with the System Hydroponics” for its employees, which was led by Bertha Suranto, a hydroponics enthusiast and winner of the Indonesian Womenpreneur Competition 2013. In the seminar, details were explained about the hydroponic system, from introducing hydroponics itself to the mechanism of planting and caring for plants so that a high quality crop can be harvested. In addition, cultivating the soil, especially through the hydroponic system, has several benefits, one of which is reducing the stress of employees so they can be more productive at work.

Pimpin Simatupang Savings Product & Business Solutions

“there were so many benefits from this training, one of which was how to cultivate the soil with very limited land, especially in towns or in densely populated areas, but still get good results, which is even better if it produces a financial profit. I will start at my house, which doesn’t have much land, and plant things like vegetables that we use on a daily basis, so that I can provide healthy vegetables for my family and not need to shop for them very much anymore; as well as supporting the creation of a healthy environment (on a micro scale). I hope that CIMB Niaga can hold this seminar again with a wider scope and for more participants, so that lots of people can be inspired to try hydroponic planting.”

“I experienced new lessons from harvesting. I learned how to harvest crops properly so that the harvest is maximized and the land can be used again after the harvest. It also added to my environmental understanding, love and awareness and provided me, and other participants, with added value because it was packaged in an interesting and fun way. Hopefully there will be a follow up and at least promotion of gardening within the work environment so that we can get more people into gardening.”

“taking part in the CIMB Niaga Goes Gardening First Harvest expanded networking potential between CIMB Niaga employees and, of course, raised our sense of care for the environment. I learned more about how to harvest crops properly. In fact, I learned many new things, gardening is fun if we use the right techniques and it is done happily. CIMB NIAGA GARDENING – FIRST HARVESTLC BUMI CIMB NIAGA GUNUNG GEULIS

Since planting took place in the CIMB Niaga Gardening activity on 7 December 2013, the first harvest had held on 8 February 2014 at the Learning Center Bumi CIMB Niaga Gunung Geulis, Bogor. the CIMB Niaga Gardening First Harvest, in addition to being an environmental CSR activity, also served as an environmental education opportunity for families and their beloved children as they could learn out in the open air. the harvest comprised vegetables such as water spinach, mustard greens, tomatoes, eggplant, chili and bitter gourd. After the harvest was taken in, the participants had the opportunity to taste their crop in omelets, smoothies, pecel kangkung and various steamed snacks provided by the organizing committee.

“this activity is a breakthrough for a banking institution. Employees who have to dwell on their work every day, of course, want an activity that can help relieve stress, and one method of doing this is by being outside, interacting with nature and being in the open air. Of course, gardening is a suitable, alternative solution to control stress. In addition, gardening helps maintain our health. this positive and creative activity will hopefully continue on an ongoing basis.”

“With this gardening activity, the participants will have benefited in ways they can use in their daily life. Education about the environment is closely related to improving the quality of our health. the planting, followed by the first harvest, proves our awareness of the importance of a love of the environment. this was not just a ceremonial activity, but a program implemented in a sustainable way. this activity also helps teach how to improve work productivity effectively and efficiently through fun gardening.”

Sustainability Sector Report

Respected Stakeholders,

2014 was quite a challenging year for CIMB Niaga to conduct business, particularly with the ongoing economic slowdown and financial conditions globally having a negative impact on conditions in various markets, as well as on domestic industry.

In the midst of a challenging business climate, with liquidity pressure, a weakening rupiah, an increase in interest rates, as well as the impact of delayed business investment decisions due to of the General Election, we are grateful that, at the end of the 2014, CIMB Niaga had maintained its position as the 5th largest bank in Indonesia based on assets, loans and customer funds. CIMB Niaga has continued to be recognized as a business entity with a vision for sustainability, as evidenced by the various awards the bank has received related to its operational and financial performance, which resulted from its social sustainability performance.

CIMB Niaga has implemented sustainability strategies sharpened by observation and adapted to the latest sustainability developments, realized through its implementation of and participation in various programs and its efforts to fulfill its economic, social and environmental corporate responsibilities.

Operational Performance and Sustainability As of the end of 2014, CIMB Niaga had recorded a fall in net profit of 45.3%, at Rp2.34 trillion compared to Rp4.28 trillion in 2013. However, throughout 2014, the company still recorded asset growth of 6.5% to Rp233.16 trillion, up from Rp227.74 trillion in the previous year.

With its position as one of the largest banks in the country by assets, by upholding sustainability efforts CIMB Niaga hopes to continue to be one of the drivers of the national economy and also to contribute to regional economies. the company continues to build and strengthen its business in the midst of the community through innovative products and cutting-edge services, while sharpening its sustainability strategy.

the company will also continue to strengthen its operational foundation for sustainable business growth and the realization of its long-term vision to create added value for all stakeholders, including the regulator, customers, employees, suppliers and the public. this is accompanied by the consistent implementation of good corporate governance across all operating activities, which we believe provides the foundation for the creation of added value and supports business continuity.

Education as a Sustainable Investment One of CIMB Niaga’s sustainability visions for the nation is implemented through investment in education. the scholarship program routinely provides exemplary Indonesian students with undergraduate and post-graduate university education. this opportunity is given to those who excel and wish to continue their education to develop all their skills and talent.

In 2014, CIMB Niaga provided scholarships to 52 students at a total investment value of Rp2.8 billion. these scholarships were allocated under CIMB Niaga’s Scholarship Program and its Creative Industrial technology Excellence Scholarship program.

In addition, to support the programs of Bank Indonesia and the Financial Services Authority (OJK), the company has continued to implement its financial literacy program. this has remained a focus of CIMB Niaga given the public’s low level of understanding on financial management. We believe that good financial management can be one of the drivers to create a better life in the future. For this reason, in 2014, the company visited various elementary schools around the country to educate children and instill in them an understanding of the importance of saving.

Meanwhile, CIMB Niaga has continued its ongoing program “Let’s Save and Share” (Ayo Menabung dan Berbagi), which it launched in 2011. the Bank has visited 102 elementary schools across several Indonesian cities. As many as 14,866 students have gained an understanding of the financial

literacy concept of saving money, as well as the concept of sharing with others. In addition, in its operational areas, CIMB Niaga has participated in the OKJ program SiMOLEK, or Si MObil LitErasi Keuangan, which means the Financial Literacy Car. this is a special mobile unit that provides financial management information and encourages public interest in using financial products and services.

Caring for the Environment and Society for the sake of a Decent Living Standardthe company’s vision of social and environmental sustainability is realized through community programs and activities, as well as a variety of activities that promote environmental conservation. Among these social programs are donations to help victims of natural disasters affecting both employees and the general community, as well as donations to orphanages and foundations.

One form of CIMB Niaga’s commitment to the environment is realized through credit provision to companies that also have environmental concerns. In addition, the Company continued to innovate and develop products and services that minimize environmental impact through the expansion of online-based products.

ClosingIn all its sustainability activities, CIMB Niaga has invited stakeholder participation given that sustainability is a shared responsibility.

As such, reflecting on all the targets and results achieved throughout 2014, the Board of Commissioners and

Directors express their sincere thanks to all CIMB Niaga employees and their families, as well as their highest appreciation of the stakeholders for all the support they have given.

CIMB Niaga will continue to strengthen its implementation of sustainability principles in every line of banking operations and services. the company will also continue to encourage greater participation from customers and business partners in the journey to achieve sustainable growth with CIMB Niaga.

The company’s largest contribution to the national economy was through the economic chain of investments and services that it offers, as well as financing of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) sector that continues to grow in Indonesia.

the macroeconomic situation in Indonesia during 2014 was still influenced by the global economic slowdown, along with the falling price of commodities, which resulted in low demand for Indonesia’s export products. In addition, the domestic political situation during the legislative and presidential elections caused a reduced flow of foreign investment, in particular in the third quarter. Furthermore, the government removed the fuel subsidy toward the end of 2014, which resulted in soaring prices for staple goods. Cumulatively, these difficult conditions ultimately caused a rise in the inflation level and a fluctuating rupiah exchange rate.

A direct impact was felt in the banking sector with increasingly tight competition to collect funds. A weakening of the stock market and asset quality were the main concerns of businesses in the banking sector. However, CIMB Niaga was able to adapt to the challenges presented and the dynamics of the economy during 2014 by continually improving services and internal operations for the convenience and satisfaction of its customers and other stakeholders.

The Company’s Participation in Economic Growth and State Revenue [G4-DMA]As the fifth largest private domestic bank by assets, with total assets reaching Rp233.2 trillion per end 2014, supported by services that spread across the majority of the country, the company supported the national economy through both direct and indirect contributions.

An Environmentally Aware Company As a financial intermediary institution that raises and distributes funds, the Company has adopted policies for business management and fund disbursement that take into account environmental aspects. Such policies are known by the term green banking.

In particular, based on Law No. 10/1998 on Banking, Law No. 32/2009 on Environmental Protection and Management, and a 2004 Regulation by Bank Indonesia (BI), the Company has undertaken a policy of only lending to those parties that have environmental conservation policies. through this policy, the Company prevents lending to third parties/customers/end-users who do not have official licenses or who do not meet the standards and guidelines set by the government regarding emissions and environmental management.

to ensure effective implementation, the Company conducts site visits to customers and prospective customers and carefully examines whether they have met the required qualifications and conducted basic environmental risk mitigation efforts in their business operations.

As a form of commitment to environmental conservation, the Company also implements environmentally friendly operations through smart spending and green office policies. the application of these environmentally friendly programs is fully supported and implemented from the management level down to employees throughout the Company’s operational offices.

Guidelines and Standards Policiesthe basic principles of environmentally friendly banking are to strengthen risk management ability, specifically related to the environment, and to encourage an increase in the financing portfolio for environmentally friendly businesses.

the CIMB Niaga Green Banking policies are based on and refer to:• LawNo.10/1998onBanking;• Law No. 32/2009 on Environmental Protection and

Management;• BankIndonesia(BI)Regulationin2004;• PoliciesoftheIndonesianNationalCouncilonClimate

Change;• United Nations Framework Convention on Climate

Change (UNFCCC);• UnitedNationsEnvironmentProgram(UNEP);and• EquatorPrinciples(EP).

Equator Principles (EP)In particular, the Equator Principles (EP) are a risk management framework used by various financial institutions around the world to determine, assess and manage environmental and social risks that may arise from infrastructure development projects or large-scale industry that will be funded by the financial institution.

the term equator represents the meaning that the ten principles that form the EP framework can be applied by all business sectors worldwide. the EP framework has been implemented by global financial institutions since 2003 and currently follows the International Finance Corporation (IFC) performance standards on social and environmental sustainability, as well as World Bank guidelines related to the environment, health and safety.

Financial institutions that adopt this principle do not give credit to borrowers who are unable to apply with environmental risk mitigation standards. there are 73 financial institutions in 27 countries recorded as officially implementing EP in their operations.

this policy is in line with the Clarification of Article 8 of Law No. 7/1992 concerning Banking, as amended by Law No. 10/1998. these regulations, among others, state that one matter to be considered in the provision of credit is the result of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for large-scale and/or high risk enterprises. the EIA requirement is also noted in Law No. 23/1997 on Environmental Management and Government Regulation No. 27/1999 on EIA.

If an EIA has not been provided by the prospective debtor, it indicates the absence of adequate environmental management planning, and thus bears the risk of causing harm and environmental problems at a later date. this, of course, implies the risk of forced discontinuation of the debtor company’s operations, risk to its business continuity and its ability to repay its loans.

Smart Spending Policy [G4-EN6, G4-EN19]the Company, through its Cost Management and Control Division unit, applies the Smart Spending 2014 policy, which is in follow up to the previous policy that had been in place since 2009 and that creates an increasing amount of policy materials that are more easily understood and implemented, which, in turn, is expected to provide better support to improve the already well implemented Smart Spending culture.

this is an environmentally friendly operational policy that also has an impact on the Company’s operational savings or efficiencies. through the implementation of this policy, the use of fuel, electricity and paper have been significantly reduced with the objective of creating an environmentally friendly company.

CIMB NIAGA Smart Spending Efficiency Program [G4-DMA]

Vehicle LeasingWhen vehicles are leased, consideration must be made to lease more efficient vehicle types, able to transport larger numbers of passengers, in good condition and not more than one year old at the start of the lease period. The objective is to reduce emissions, reduce the number of vehicles required for out of town trips and reduce transportation costs.

Standardising Paper SizeThe company has set a standard paper size of HVS A4 70 gram for daily needs (photocopying, memos and printing documents). This policy also supports maximizing the ability to use both sides of the paper. The objective is to reduce paper waste and facilitate transportation of paper waste for recycling by a third party.

Promoting the Use of E-StatementsEfforts are made for all types of reports to customers (Giro statements, Educational Saving Reports, credit card statements, etc.) to be paperless, in the form of an e-statement. The objective is to reduce the use of paper and the cost of delivery, which is also related to reducing emissions levels from transportation.

Limiting Use of ElectricityAuthorization of after-hours electricity consumption is maximized to only two (2) hours overtime. The objective of this policy is to control the use of electricity.

Saving ElectricityElectricity savings are implemented through the use of energy-efficient electrical installations (light bulb type, zoning, light positioning, etc.) and air conditioning load for overtime. In addition to reducing emissions resulting from electricity use, more effective working hours and a reduction in overtime hours can result in a reduced use of electricity.

Conclusions We have confirmed that the Report has been prepared in accordance with G4 Core Criteria issued by the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). Findings and conclusions concerning adherence to the AA1000 AccountAbility Principles of Inclusivity, Materiality and Responsiveness include: Inclusivity

Bank CIMB Niaga has an effective system in place for key stakeholders to participate in the development of the organization's response in the context of sustainability. However, we recommend that Bank CIMB Niaga continues to improve stakeholder inclusivity systems and procedures on a regular basis to maintain their effectiveness.

Materiality An assessment has been made as to whether Bank CIMB Niaga has included in the Report the material information required by its stakeholders in order to enable them to make informed judgements, decisions and actions. We found Bank CIMB Niaga has a strong process in place to determine material issues. Key material issues were adequately reported and were found to provide balanced information about Bank CIMB Niaga's sustainability performance. A range of internal stakeholders are involved in Bank CIMB Niaga's materiality determination process. However, we recommend that Bank CIMB Niaga continues to conduct materiality test on a regular basis in future reports.

However, we recommend that Bank CIMB Niaga continues to improve stakeholder engagement procedures on a regular basis in future reports.

Based on our limited assurance engagement, nothing has come to our attention that causes us to believe that the data of the Report has been materially misstated.
