Since co-founding RMS in 1989 as a spin-out from Stanford University, Hemant helped build RMSfrom five colleagues working from his apartment, to more than 1,200 professionals providing the world'sleading catastrophe modelling solutions to the global insurance sector.

Protecting Your Organization from Computer Crime ... Michael Bazzell

Michael Bazzell spent 18 years as a government computer crime investigator.During that time, he was assigned to the FBI’s Cyber Crimes Task Forcewhere he focused on ‘Hackers’ and various computer crime investigations. As an active investigator for multiple organizations, he has been involved innumerous high-tech criminal investigations, including online child solicitation,child abduction, kidnapping, cold-case homicide, terrorist threats, and highlevel computer intrusions. He has trained thousands of people employed bystate and federal agencies, as well as the private sector, in the use of hisinvestigative techniques.

Michael has also taught several college courses, including Ethical Hacking,Computer Forensics, and Computer Crime Investigation. His previous books,‘Open Source Intelligence Techniques’ and ‘Hiding from the Internet’, havebeen top sellers in the US and Europe. In fact, several government agenciesuse Michael’s books as training manuals for intelligence gathering and securing personal information.

David is president and CEO of Everest Canada,and chair of the Investment Committee of theBoard of Directors. Since joining Everest Canadain 2013, he and his team have been responsiblefor all primary insurance underwriting, claim, marketing and administrative operations.

Previously he was SVP, operations, at Economical Insurance andprior to that, he was with Chubb Insurance. He began his insurancecareer with Continental Canada (now Northbridge Insurance) in1992 as a commercial underwriter.

David was co-founder and a member of the board of directors ofSlingshot Communications Inc., a marketing and communicationscompany. He currently sits on the Governing Committee of theNuclear Insurance Association of Canada.

He holds a BA from the University of Guelph, as well as his Chartered Insurance Professional and Canadian Risk Management designations.

As CFO, Phil has overall responsibility for procure-ment and reinsurance, and provides the leadershipteam and the broader organization with strategicfinancial counsel and support.

He is also president of Economical Financial, thecompany's broker financing arm.

Prior to joining Economical in 2011, he spent nine years as apartner in the audit and assurance group of global professionalservices firm PwC LLP, specializing in financial services and, inparticular, P&C insurance.

Phil is a Chartered Accountant and holds a B.Sc. (Mathematics)from Liverpool University, UK.

Doug has been with Portage La Prairie MutualCompany for 24 years. He began as the FinancialController/Director of Internal Audit and movedinto the role of Treasurer and CFO in 2006.

During this time he has been involved in financialreporting, internal audit, investment management,strategic acquisitions, reinsurance and working

with the actuaries.

Doug has a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Brandon University andan Executive Management Certificate from MIT. During his sparetime, he is actively involved with Rotary International.

worked on citywide plans such as healthcare evacuation and postdisaster outreach to impacted populations. He has operated as aLiaison to New York’s Emergency Operation Center in both smalland large scale incidents (e.g. Hurricane Sandy).
