Austria, partner country of the 11th In-ternational CFK-Valley Stade Conven-tion, is a land of lightweight construc-tion. Due to its long-standing tradition in material technology, well-trained en-gineers and specialists with networked thinking skills as well as university ex-

cellence, Austria’s companies today are competent and in-novative partners in all areas of lightweight construction: steel, lightweight metals, technical materials and classic polymers, hybrid materials and composites.

Austrian companies are highly dynamic and innovative, par-ticularly in the area of fiber-reinforced polymers. The con-ference program and accompanying exhibition will show you the variety of composites made in Austria: FACC, a signifi-cant supplier to the international aerospace industry and En-gel, technology leader in polymer injection molding are com-panies that represent Austria today along with young and innovative companies such as Peak Technology and Micado Engineering. The exhibition area will present a number of additional companies and research establishments and give you an idea of Austria’s comprehensive range of competence in technology.

In view of increasingly more complex lightweight construc-tion processes, networking is essential not only between the

individual steps of the value-added chain but also in interna-tional cooperation. Austria has proven a reliable and innova-tive partner of the German industry for decades and looks forward to further expanding this position in the future. The internationalization agency Advantage Austria and the light-weight construction platform A2LT Austrian Advanced Light-weight Technology as a competency network spanning all in-dustries and materials are available as competent points of contact.

CFK-Valley Stade Convention, the discussion and coopera-tion platform known far beyond the borders of Germany, brings the players of the most important German lightweight construction clusters together with international partners and guests. The steady growth in the CFRP mar-ket of about 9-12 % p.a. proves that the former start-up technology is trans-forming into an established high tech market. Nevertheless prior trend stud-ies have expected even a higher rate of market increase which reminds us, that steady innovation is the key to ongoing growth.

As in parallel OEMs are transferring more responsibility to suppliers, with CFK-Valley Convention we are glad to give a platform for the interexchange between researchers, devel-opers, suppliers, OEMs and decision makers worldwide. The chance to transform new technologies and the digital mind-set such as 3D-printing and Industry 4.0 into innovation will keep the market trend on the current high level.

The CFK-Valley Convention will be opened with a welcome speech by Mrs. Silvia Nieber, Mayors of the Hanseatic City of Stade followed by Mr. Werner Loscheider, Federal Minis-try for Economic Affairs and Energy (Berlin) giving an over-view about supporting activities of the Ministry in the Field of lightweight technology.

As repair solutions are essential for the use of composites in widespread applications the first keynote speech from Dr.-Ing. Jens Holtmannspötter, Bundeswehr Research Institute for Materials, Fuels and Lubricants (Erding) will be dealing with novel technologies for this demanding challenge.

A second keynote speech about the Vision 2030 for Compos-ite Manufacturing held by Mr. Robert Machtlinger and Kon-stantin Horejsi, FACC Operations GmbH (Ried) will introduce the session of this year’s partner country Austria.

We are happy to present Austria as our associated partner for the CFK-Valley Stade Convention in 2017. The Austrian CFRP industry, with 11 well-known Companies, will exhibit their latest developments and recent industrial products.

The first day of the convention will traditionally end up in our evening event with greetings and the bestowal of the ”CFK-Valley Innovation Award”. There we will have the opportunity to meet business partners and friends of the network to dis-cuss new technologies, new business and the future. Nev-ertheless the event will offer some time to relax and enjoy a nice evening together.
