The rPET material is durable and recyclable. Moreover, it is already made from recycled plastic. Combined with a refill cartridge, a recycled PET PEN can be used for a very long time in normal use before disposal of the housing becomes necessary.

The recycled PET PEN, like all other uma products, is designed to be refillable. Unfortunately, this is not true of many other so-called „sustainable products“ in the market. If the pen has to be disposed of, then the complete pen housing, can be put into the „yellow bag“ recycling bin and the rPET material can be recycled again. PET material is better suited for a recycling than conventional ABS plastic. ABS plastic tends to lose quality after the first recycling process, whereas PET can be recycled and upcycled multiple times.

How is the product made? We use rPET for the production of a PET pen. The granules required for this purpose are obtained from recycled PET bottles. A 0.5 L PET bottle gives exactly the material needed to make a ballpoint pen case. The energy required for production, and thus CO2 emissions, does not exceed that used for the production of previous plastic writing instruments. It should be pointed out that a PET recycling process has already been carried out with the production of a recycled PET PEN!

In addition, we ensure that the CO2 emissions resulting from the production of the uma PET PEN SERIES are fully offset.
