Alberto Alemanno is the Jean Monnet Professor in EuropeanUnion Law and Policy at HEC Paris. He is also Global ClinicalProfessor at New York University School of Law and a scholarat the O’Neill Institute for National and Global Health Law atGeorgetown University Law Center. He is one of the leadingexperts in the areas of EU law and policy, participatorydemocracy, theory of regulation, transparency and opengovernment. Didier Caluwaerts is Assistant Professor of Political Science atthe Vrije Universiteit Brussel. His research interests includedemocratic innovations, with a particular emphasis ondeliberative and participatory democracy in deeply dividedsocieties. In 2013-2014, he was a Democracy Fellow at theHarvard Ash Center for Democratic Governance andInnovation, and in 2011, he co-organised the G1000 Citizens'Summit in Belgium. Lyn Carson is the Research Director with ThenewDemocracy Foundation in Australia. Nicole Curato is an Associate Professor at the Centre forDeliberative Democracy and Global Governance at theUniversity of Canberra. Jessica Feldman is an Assistant Professor in the Department ofGlobal Communications at the American University of Paris.She previously was a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Digital CivilSociety Lab at Stanford University, and earned a Ph.D. inMedia, Culture, and Communication from New YorkUniversity in 2017. Feldman’s current book project, RadicalProtocols: Designing Democratic Digital Tools in SocialMovements is a study of the ways in which democratic valuesare (or are not) inscribed in the design of emergingnetworked and decentralised communication technologies.

James S. Fishkin holds the Janet M. Peck Chair in InternationalCommunication at Stanford University where he is Professor ofCommunication, Professor of Political Science (by courtesy)and Director of the Center for Deliberative Democracy. Hislatest book is Democracy When the People Are Thinking. Hiswork on deliberative democracy has stimulated more than100 Deliberative Polls in 28 countries around the world. It hasbeen used to help governments and policy makers makeimportant decisions in many countries around the world.
Francis Foley is the Project Director of Citizens'Convention on UK Democracy. The aim of the project isto design and deliver an ambitious, inclusive andthorough deliberation on democratic reform in the UK.Alongside the adoption of the Convention’srecommendations, the main outcome will be a radicallyreformed system of politics.

Darren is Chief Executive of The Electoral Reform Society ofthe United Kingdom since 2017 and oversees campaignsfor a fairer voting system for the House of Commons andlocal government, an elected second chamber, thepromotion of deliberative democracy processes andmeasures to improve gender representation and theparticipation of young people. Amelie Klein is a design curator, writer and critic. Until May2019, she worked at the Vitra Design Museum in Weil amRhein, Germany, where most recently she opened theinternational travelling exhibition “Victor Papanek: The Politicsof Design”. She completed an MA in Design Criticism at NewYork’s School of Visual Arts as well as an MBA at the ViennaUniversity of Economics and Business, Austria, and worked asa journalist publishing amongst others in the Austrian daily DiePresse and magazines such as Abitare and Metropolis.

Miriam Levin is Head of Community Action and Giving at theDepartment for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport of the UKGovernment. Teele Pehk is an Estonian democracy artist, change makerand urbanist. She advocates for open governance andbelieve in the impact and power of citizen assemblies.2015-2018 she directed the Estonian Cooperation Assembly,a competence centre working on policy recommendationsand initiatives on societal issues. 2010-2015 she directed theurban issues think-and-do-tank Estonian Urban Lab. Since2016 she has been leading online and offline advocacyefforts to build a critical mass of users for the citizens initiativesplatform known as rahvaalgatus.ee.

Paolo has contributed to the design,implementation and evaluation of a large array of differentdigital and in person participatory & deliberative processes.His specialty is evaluating processes via a mix betweenrandomised controlled trials, surveys and participatory actionresearch. Jane'sexpertise lies mainly in the area of the public sphere; and inparticular participation and political engagement.
