Uncontrolled static discharges can cause massive explosions and fires. Eltex ground monitoring systems are used for filling or pouring potentially explosive materials. The systems reliably and effectively ground any resulting electrostatic charges away.

The ground monitoring systems monitor the connection for potential equalization and the contact of the ground clamps. This function switches a potential-free changeover contact which can control visual or audible signal trans-mitters, interlocks, pumps, slides, etc.

Electrostatic charges when handling liquids, granulates and powders

Filling and emptying tanks with liquids, granulates and powders and pumping, stirring, mixing or spraying liquids as well as measuring and taking samples or cleaning tasks: All of these processes can cause a dangerous build-up of charge in liquids, granulates and powders or the insides of containers. The resulting amount and size of the charge depend on several factors. These include the properties of the media and their flow rate, the respective operating method as well as the size, geometry and material composition of the container.

Uncontrolled discharge is a danger that is not to be underestimated!

Ground clampsAlong with the Eltex TERRA-CONTROL TUE30 ground monitoring system, the Eltex series 70 of ground clamps guarantee that ground connections are established and reliably monitored.

Rewinding cable reels

The Eltex 601KR series of rewinding cable reels rewind the grounding cable easily after use, which protects it from damage and stores it in a safe place. The 601KR/AW rewinding cable reel is made of impact-resistant aluminum and is mounted to a mounting bracket so that it can swivel.

A durable plastic housing surrounds the 601KR/KW rewinding cable reel; the cable outlet is equipped with four rollers for guiding cables more easily. Both rewinding cable rollers are designed for wall mounting and can be used in EX zone 1 where there is a risk of explosion.

TERRa-ConTRol TUE30 The modularly designed ground monitoring system is available in two versions. The first is the standard module, TERRACOMPACT II TO030, for assembly on a standard rail NS35 in a control cabinet or a control room. The second version, the TERRABOX TCB030 or the TERRAPHARM, in a self-contained enclosure for wall mounting directly inside a hazardous area (Ex zone 1).

TERRaCaPThe TERRACAP TCB040 grounding system identifies a low-resistance connection using the jaws of the clamp. If a connection is identified, the device discharges electrostatic charges safely via a resistor, which prevents spark discharge. The control unit then checks the capacity detected at the clamp. If the capacity for the truck tank is correct, a green display lights up and the inter-locking relay enables the pumping process. The device then forms a low-resistance connection to the ground, which prevents further build-up of electrostatic charges. The connection using the clamps is continuously monitored during pumping.

TERRaCoMPaCT II and TERRaBoX Each of the two grounding components are provided for connecting to a ground clamp or a rewinding cable reel with ground clamp. A two-clamp solution is also available for Big Bag grounding.
