NEWS FROM OUR COMMUNITY
Save A Heart Challenge for Mott Employees
n outstanding team of creative contributors from
C.S. Mott raised up $3950 in funds for the annu-
al Save A Heart event, making them the winners in
this year’s Staff Challenge. Staff teams throughout
Mott were challenged to create silent auction entries
and collectively, they created 23 auction baskets.
Together with another 43 auction packages brought
in by the Save A Heart committee, the auction raised
$20,000. All proceeds benefit the Save A Heart pro-
gram, which was created to raise funds for patients
and families at the U-M Congenital Heart Center
(CHC). The program provides financial assistance for
travel and lodging expenses during patient visits,
medical research, genetic testing, sending kids to
summer camp and the biennial CHC Patient Reunion,
celebrating and remembering children with congenital
heart defects.

Page 5 Inside Pediatrics DIVERSITY, EQUITY AND INCLUSION
The Department of Pediatrics Celebrates Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
The March 7th Emerging Leaders event (pictured above) was a huge success and so
many fantastic ideas were brought to the table. The event gave junior faculty members
the opportunity to network and engage with current department leaders, seek advice and
discuss career trajectories, and share ideas with division and department leaders.
Thank you to all of our faculty and staff for your support in the
Department of Pediatrics’ pledge to move our vision forward to create an
increasingly diverse, equitable and inclusive environment.
The Department of Pediatrics is excited to co-sponsor,
with the Office of Health Equity and Inclusion (OHEI), a first of its kind
program at Michigan Medicine. We invite all of our Department faculty,
residents, fellows and staff to a special screening of
