The octopus is a boneless animal with suction cup arms. Even though the octopus is quite
unusual, this animal is very intelligent. The octopus has been observed playing catch with
another octopus. Some scientist actually think octopi can show their emotions by changing
color. One type of octopus can mimic other animals.
The octopus can use many strategies to escape predators. A: Their arms can amputate. B:
Using jet propulsion, they can jet away. C: They produce black inks that can actually make a predator lose their sense
of smell for as much time for the octopus to escape.
The octopus also has a beak to eat prey. Although the octopus is weird, it can sure do a lot!
White Tigers

Did you know that white tigers are not necessarily albino? Yes it is true that some are albino, but some are also a
subspecies of other tigers. White tigers have unique physical features and unique habitats.
Appearance
White Tigers are very large and powerful animals. They reach three meters in length. White tigers have a little bit of
pigmentation. Their stripes are vertical on their body. Their stripes are either black or brown.
Habitat
White tigers have a very specific habitat. That is only because they are an endangered species. They are most
commonly found in India, Nepal, Bhutan, and Bangladesh.

a crab‐like animal. Here are some facts.
Crayfish Life
Crayfish live in streams and ponds. They also hibernate. When crayfish hibernate, they
bury themselves in the mud. Crayfish, when they aren’t hibernating, hide under stones.
They eat decaying plants, animals, small fish, snails, insect larva, worms, and your
sandwiches.

Crayfish predators include but are not limited to, birds, bigger fish, us, raccoons, and more.
Book Review: Liar and Spy By Nick T.
Georges (the S is silent) goes to school where they are learning about the five tastes: sweet, salty, bitter,
sour, and umami. He faces bullies like Dallas (his real name is David). One day when Georges entered
his apartment, he saw a sign for a spy club. At spy club, he meets Safer the spy and Candy, his
younger sister. The person they spy on is a man named Mr. X (it’s a code name) who wears mostly
black. They watch the lobby camera and basically just watch the birds outside from the window. Safer
has an older brother who used to watch the birds. Safer’s job is to take the dogs into the courtyard.
One time while he was there, he found a key in Mr. X’s laundry. Read the book to find out more.

Lincoln’s Grave Robbers is an awesome book. If you like history and non‐fiction, then this is a great book for you!
Lincoln’s Grave Robbers will take you to a new adventure about our great president, Abraham Lincoln.
Summary
As Lincoln was resting in his cozy coffin next to his wife and kids in his monument, he is suddenly
disturbed. There is a plot to steal Lincoln’s coffin to get a fellow prison inmate to Benjamin Boyd, a criminal
business associate. They are trying to get the man out of jail so together the men can continue their criminal
business. Their plot to steal Lincoln’s body might work. The reward from the government for Lincoln’s
body (they hope) is Lincoln’s return, plus $200,000.
This book is sure to take you on an awesome adventure! It is filled with mystery and wonder.
Book Review: Sports Camp By Nick T.
A kid named Riley goes to camp for sports. He gets into Cabin 3 with Vince, Barry, Tony, and many
other kids who aren’t as good at sports. The three main sports played include softball, basketball, and
volleyball. All the cabins are competing for the Big Joe Trophy. Big Joe is the name of the famous
snapping turtle that lives in the lake. Riley has his eye on the swimming race across the lake. He got sick
right before the qualifier which still got him in the real race but very narrowly. Each cabin has a name.
Cabin 3’s team is the Threshers. The other six cabins have names too. One night, a kid went out at night
while everyone was asleep and went down near the lake. When he came back, the people in the cabin
began calling him Night crawler. After the cabins competed for the three major sports, Cabin 3 was in
third with the swim race left to do. This is all the information I will tell you so you might as well read the book now.

Book Review: The Chocolate Touch By Lindsey M.
The character John in The Chocolate Touch goes through changes throughout the book. Here are some of those
changes. John ate too much chocolate in the beginning of the story and would not stop. His mom and dad called Dr.
Cranium. Dr. Cranium said no more eating chocolate. So John has not eaten any more chocolate.
John has changed at the end because he went to the store that he got the chocolate from he said to the man help me
get my mom unfrozen from chocolate. He changes because everything turned back to normal.
YouTube Channel Reviews: VintageBeef! By Donnie R.
VintageBeef is a Youtuber who does a BUNCH of “let’s play” videos. He talks about Minecraft,
GTA V, NHL 14, and other games as well. Beef (everybody calls him Beef) is on a Minecraft server
known as Mindcrack. The server is run by GuudeBoulderFist. He is a YouTube member who
created the October 9, 2010 “let’s play” video about Minecraft Alpha 1.1.2_01. Beef joined the
server in Minecraft Beta 1.5_01 in season 2 of the “let’s play.”
Beef has over 700,000 subscribers on his YouTube channel, but his number one videos and viewed
videos are his Mindcrack videos. These videos get up to 100,000‐200,000 views per video. Beef
sometimes collaborates with GuudeBoulderFist, Bdouble0, and W92Baj for other videos.

Link Games ‐ Theory By Sean F.
We know him, we love him: Link! Now today I’m talking about Link and his game. The game starts with Link
waking up in a tree and Novi greeting him. The whole point of his quest is to collect items and find out secrets. I’m
going to ruin your childhood by telling you that in Majora’s Mask, Link dies. Yes, I mean it! He dies when he falls
down a big tree stump. If you have played the Link games, you know that they take falling damage pretty seriously.
When you fall down the stump you find characters that were in previous games. The stump has
its own astrosphere with a moon falling towards the village. If this is all real, then why does this
so‐called moon appear in other Link games?
Okay, I’m going to explain this by telling you the DABDA effect (all in order from D to A). D is
for denial. For instance, when you peek into the mayor’s office there’s the blacksmith saying that
if anyone thinks the moon is going to fall that they are cowards. The swordsman says that he’s going to cut the moon
in half. A is for anger, like when you enter a temple the king is saying a monkey stole the princess and must die for
it. B is for bargaining. When you meet with that gorilla’s ghost he’s bargaining for you to resurrect him with your
magic. When the bargaining fails, the other D comes into play: depression. When you swim up to the fish lady she’s
depressed because she lost her eggs. Last is the letter A. It is acceptance. When you defeat the guy who is all
shadow, he says, “When you are defeated, you shall fall. This is the way of the Gerou.” Then you can make statues of
the people lost and I think Link can make a statue of himself. Then look at the part of the map called Termina.
Termina is one letter short of terminal which means The END. So at the end of the game Link’s in the lost forest
which is purgatory and link is trying to find acceptance.

Game Review: Call of Duty Black Ops 2 By Jon T.
Call of Duty Black Ops 2 was released November 13, 2012 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Call of Duty Black Ops 2
is a first person shooter video game, developed by Treyarch and published by Activison (Square Enix for Japan).
Within 24 hours of going on sale, the game grossed over $500 million. It had remained the largest gaming launch of
all until September 2013, when Take‐Two announced that Grand Theft Auto V had grossed $800 million in its first
day of release.
Game Review: Space Invaders By Nick T.
Space Invaders is a retro game and was very popular back then. You shoot aliens in a tank guarded by little pillars.
Now I will say most of all the good information that I know.
Speed and direction
The aliens go in a pattern. They drop down and reverse direction. This is also followed by the
aliens increasing speed and the music gets faster and faster until they can land. Now the blue space
ship on the screen is really quick and is labeled mystery points.
How to play
Shoot the aliens before they get down to earth. There are pillars to protect you from the alien shots.
Every once in a while the blue space ship will come and run across the top of the screen. Space
Invaders is still popular today in the gaming world.
Magic: The Gathering By Will M. and Cameron S.
Magic: The Gathering has been around for a while and now is one of the most popular games. Magic: The
Gathering was made by Richard Garfield in 1993. It was the first trading card game. There are other
trading card games like Pokemon and Yu Gi Oh. Magic: The Gathering uses artimetic, reading, logic,
common sense, and strategy. Magic: The Gathering has won 12 awards.

Circus Atari
Circus Atari was made for the Atari 2600. The Atari 2600 was Atari’s game console. It was black with brown
on the sides and buttons on the top. Now back to Circus Atari. Circus Atari was a cooperation game using a
teeter totter. You have to move the teeter totter so that each person falls on the teeter totter and so on. When
one man goes up, the other man stays on. So when one man comes down the other man goes up. There are
also blocks on top that you can destroy if one of the people goes too high. The blocks are moving too.
Other Atari 2600 games
Some popular games are Pong Sports which includes 50 modes and quite a lot of sports, EVEN FOOSBALL! Another
game is Basic Math which consists of one digit by one digit adding, subtracting, dividing and multiplying. Atari
made a lot of games but Circus and some of the others I mentioned were all really good games.

Game Review: Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 By Will M.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 is a first person shooter game and was a hit in 2011. Some of the characters in this
game are Frost, Sandman, Grinch, Truck, Price, Soap, Burns, and Makarov. The campaign has
levels that can be hard. One map is Black Tuesday which you have to destroy a satellite dish.
They also have a multiplayer mode where you can play online. A few multiplayer maps are
Village, Downturn, and Underground. You have guns such as MP5, M4A1, M16, AK47, Model
1887, Striker, Spas 12, USAS 12, and FN P90. Some of the attachments are red dot, acog sight,
extended magazine, and thermal.

Donkey Kong
This game included jump man (Mario) who mistreated his pet gorilla (Donkey Kong) who took his
girlfriend on top of a building. No, back then Mario’s girlfriend’s name was not Peach, but Pauline.
Sadly, even the first Donkey Kong Jr. came before Mario Bros!

This I think started the Mario games (besides Donkey Kong.) The characters include Mario and Luigi
going in the sewers and basically attacking anything. In the game you couldn’t actually step on
enemies. You would have to use the POW in the middle of the screen. Although this game came two
years after Donkey Kong, it still gains interest today. Just look at Mario 3D world.
Video Game System Showdown By Sean R.
In this showdown we are going to be comparing two brand new game systems.
The Xbox One: The Playstation 4:
Now let’s talk prices. The Xbox One is near $500 whereas the playstation is near $400. Let’s compare the storage.
Both of these systems have 500 giga‐bytes. When you’re talking build quality, the Xbox takes it because the
Playstation feels too plasticy. Both of the systems’ controllers have pretty good features. The Xbox has rumble packs
in the triggers. The Playstation has—as crazy as it sounds—a mouse on the controller. Both of these systems have
some sort of motion sensor.
Which system would I have? Well, I’ve always been a Xbox person so I would get that one. Also, the Xbox One is a
DVR and Blu‐Ray player whereas the playstation is only a Blu‐Ray player.
Fun fact! The first Xbox One made is in a water proof case in a shark tank. That’s it for console reviews. I’ll join you
again when the next console comes out in the middle school newspaper.

April 15, 1912. ‘’ICEBERG!’’ said the men in the crow’s nest as they saw an iceberg heading towards them. They
called down to the control center were the wheel was. They said, ‘’LEFT’’ but it was too late. This is the most
shocking and dreadful story of the RMS TITANIC. There are many stories of the Titanic but the real story is the one
that comes from the survivors. Many lives were lost either in the freezing water or they never made it off the boat.
The death toll was over 1,000 of both crew and passengers who made the voyage. Let’s hope that this will never
happen again. So take a moment on April 15 and think of the many people lost on the RMS TITANIC.
How to be a Pirate (Book Two) By Nick T.
Hiccup is back in Berk, his home village, where he is learning how to become a pirate. A mysterious
crate floats on to shore. The Vikings take the crate into the village where Hiccup’s father, the chief of
the Viking village, inspects the box. The box says, “This is the grave of Grim beard The Ghastly.” They open it. Inside the crate is a man by the name of Alvin the
Poor but Honest Farmer. Alvin says that there is a treasure of Grim Beard the Ghastly on the Island
of Skullions. So the Vikings go over to the Island of Skullions on the Lucky Thirteen. The Vikings
search the Island looking for the treasure. Someone after a few seconds finds the treasure… And it’s
not Hiccup… It’s his enemy Snoutlout. This time the treasure reads: “Only open If you are the true heir of grim Beard the ghastly.” And that’s not Hiccup… If you would like to know more, read this book yourself!

Uggs or Not? By Zoe H. and Amanda P.
Everyone knows what Ugg boots are, but should they be worn year round? They are made by skinning sheep from
the wool for the inside of the boot, and the actual skin is used for the “rubber” bottom! That’s disgusting! This means
Mary loses her little lamb TO THIS COMPANY!!!!!!! When you wear them you are literally wearing a sheep! You’re
wearing lamb chops on your feet……..YUMMY! The Merino sheep are the ones that are used to make Ugg boots. The
sheep can be tortured to death if they become a hassle in the process of getting the sheep’s coat.
Another bad thing about them is if you get them wet or get salt on them they turn white! One way to prevent this is
you can spray a waterproof spray on them that costs up to $15! If you still like Uggs there is nothing else I can really
do to persuade you otherwise. Have fun wearing sheep!

etc. Listen to each other’s feelings.

while doing research. What should I do if I am at
home or in school?
You should tell an adult immediately whenever you
are at home or in in school. Don’t try to log off or shut
down because that might only make things even

I want to join a club or a team, but I’m too nervous. It’s
already late in the year and I don’t want to be

people join clubs late. Ignore anyone that

A: Nether is another word for the underworld. Q: How do you make a Nether portal?
A: You build a 4 by 5 vertical frame out of obsidian and then light with flint and steel or fire charge. Q: How do you defend your home in survival?
A: First you have to get wood to make the planks to make sticks and then you get the items you need to make a
sword like stone, gold, iron, diamonds.
Q: How do you store items?
A: To store items you have to have crafting tables and then you have to get wood. There can be up to 27 items in a
chest, the same as your inventory. In a large chest there are 54 item slots.
Q: What systems can you play Minecraft on?
A: Xbox 360, PC, Mac, Android, and Apple products such as iPod, iPad, etc.

Make some sticks. You make sticks like this picture shows:
Then if you want to, you can make a pickaxe out of wood. That consists of three
wood on top and two sticks in the middle.
Make a stone axe so you can chop down trees in five seconds.
To make a house you can use dirt, wood, cobblestone or a hole in the ground.
READ THIS: There are mobs out at night, including zombies, skeletons, creepers, spiders, enderman, and
spider jockeys.
MINE! That’s why it’s called Minecraft. Get a stone pickaxe and mine, mine, mine!
Get some iron (and some coal and if you have some). Smelt it in your furnace and make an iron pickaxe.
When you find diamonds, make a diamond sword and some iron armor. You need 24 iron and two
diamonds for the sword.
Go kill some skeletons and spiders for string for the bow.
And you’re set!

Minecraft has been through six different versions: Classic, Indev, Infdev, Alpha, Beta, and Official Release

Classic was available on May 17, 2009 and ended in 2010
During the beginning of Classic, Minecraft was basically a building game
Classic was the only version where colored wool was in the game before Beta 1.2
During that time as well, the game was only a creative mode game until the 0.30 Survival Test
The Mob “Creeper” was born when Notch failed in succeeding the design of the pig
During Classic, many important blocks and items (such as cobblestone) were added that are important today
Indev
Indev is what made Minecraft the survival game it is today
In this version you could customize YOUR own type of world to load

Lillie Keenan is a 16 year old famous equitation rider. Every equestrian rider wants to meet her. She owns 20 horses.
The most famous one is named “Clearwater.” In the fall of 2013 alone, she won the Possa Medal Finals in
Harrisburg, PA, and the Maclay Medal Finals. She is moving out of the hunter ring and turning to show jumping,
as she has achieved most of her goals and cannot progress much farther. She has already won against her own
trainer. She belongs to Heritage Farm, just outside of New York City. I am lucky enough to have watched her
preform at the Possa Finals and meet her and Clearwater in person.

Seaquest DSV is a television show about what the 23th century will be like. Nathan is the
Captain of Seaquest DSV. Lucas is the chief computer analyst. Darwin is the dolphin that
can talk. Dagwood is another kind of human being. Jonathan Ford is the Commander. Tim
OʹNeill can speak different languages. Dr. Wendy Smith is a scientist. Tony Piccolo, Lonnie
Henderson, Kristin Westphalen, Katherine Hitchcock and Ben Krieg are other characters. I
hope you learned something about Seaquest DSV and will want to watch the show.
New Star Trek Movie By Sean R.
So when was it made?
Star trek was made on May 16, 2013 so it is fairly new.
How much did it cost?
Now since this movie had the set people making the full insides of two massive starships and computer generating
the entirety of two cities, it cost $190 million to make.
So how is the acting quality?
The acting quality is very good. It has a lot of yelling and the actors make funny faces. At certain points in the movie,
you can tell the punches were fake, but other than that it’s really good.
What about special effects?
Now for the iffy part: special effects. Apart from too many lens flares, it’s actually really good. The smoke coming
from the U.S.S. Enterprise and Vengeance looks realistic. The debris from each starship looks really good too.
How do I like this movie?
I really like this movie because it has great acting and special effects. It only costs between $9.99 and $24.99 for Blu‐
Ray/DVD/a digital copy.

Cheetahs are wild animals. You may know them to be a part of the cat family. They may be
more interesting than you might think. Did you know they are the world’s fastest mammal
in the world? They can go from 0 to 60 mph in 3 seconds. When catching their prey, they
tend to creep up as close as they can to their prey before they even think about attacking.
Also, when they do attack their chases only last from 10 to 60 seconds long. When the
females raise their young, they only stay with them for 1 ½ to 2 years. After that they
usually travel alone. The males usually travel in groups of 3 to 4 brothers. Cheetahs usually
live anywhere from 10 to 12 years. I hope you enjoyed these interesting facts about cheetahs.
