Greetings from CCRW. I hope everyone had a nice April and was spared from the recent flooding. Today is a beautiful day with flowerbeds being replenished and trees bursting out with new growth. Truly glorious! However, Mother Nature doesn’t seem to mind that the Republican leader-ship is trying to chart a path forward against the background of the Presi-dential campaigns. Since the second big Super Tuesday on March 15th, we have seen Wisconsin (42 delegates) followed by New York (95) and the next big super Tuesday is April 26th with Connecticut (28), Delaware (16), Mary-
land (38), Pennsylvania (71) and Rhode Island (19) all being contested on that day. May is a slow month with only a handful of states holding primaries for a total of 112 delegates at stake the entire month. And it all leads up to the last Super Tuesday on June 7th when California (172), Montana (27), New Jersey (51), New Mexico (24) and South Dakota (29) bring the primary season to an end. 814. Clinton’s challenge and the Democratic Party’s challenge is how to ensure that all of those Ber-nie voters show back up to vote for Hillary in November. Most of them are young and don’t think highly of Hillary. A good portion of Bernie voters says their second choice is Trump. On the Repub-lican side things are much more interesting. At this point Trump is the only one that has much of a shot at 1237 at the convention. All delegates are bound to their candidates for the first ballot, and most for a second; but by the third ballot all delegates become free agents and can vote for whomev-er is nominated. A big clue to the strategy of the Republican Leadership will come when the rules for the convention are adopted. Currently, there is rule that a candidate cannot be nominated at the con-vention unless they win a minimum of 8 states. If that rules stays in effect, then only Trump and Cruz can be nominated. But perhaps the most interesting speculation is about the strategy of the Republican Leadership toward the two leading candidates. Onward to June.

Quote of the Decade
“A liberal’s paradise
would be a place where every-
body has guaranteed employ-
ment, free comprehensive health
care, free education, free food,
free housing, free clothing, free
utilities, and only law enforce-
ment has guns. And believe it
or not, such a place does indeed
already exist; It’s called Pris-
on.”

State Representative Greg Bonnen, MD accepting Texas Armed Services Scholarship Program applications
Nominations for the 2016-2017 Texas Armed Services Scholarship Program (TASSP) have opened for next year’s class
(fall 2016/spring 2017 academic year). Students are encouraged to become members of the Texas Army National Guard,
the Texas Air National Guard, the Texas State Guard, the United States Coast Guard, the United States Merchant Marine,
or commissioned officers in any branch of the armed services of the United States.
Texas Armed Services Scholarship Program
The Texas Legislature created the Texas Armed Services Scholarship Program (TASSP) to encourage students to partici-
pate in Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) programs at civilian colleges. A student must meet specific eligibility
criteria in order to receive an initial award. In addition to the eligibility criteria, a student must enter into an agreement
requiring a four year commitment as a member of the Texas Army National Guard, Texas Air National Guard, Texas
State Guard, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Merchant Marine or a commissioned officer in any branch of the armed services of
the United States. Annually, the governor and the lieutenant governor may each appoint two students, and each state
senator and each state representative may appoint one student to receive a conditional TASSP. A maximum of 185 stu-
dents may be appointed annually.
Eligibility for Nomination
In order to be considered for a TASSP, a student enrolling in higher education straight from high school must meet two
of the following four academic criteria at the time of application:
•Be on track to graduate, or has graduated high school with the Distinguished Achievement Program (DAP) or the In-
ternational Baccalaureate Program (IB);
•Have a high school GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale;
•Achieve a college readiness score on the SAT (1590) or ACT (23);
•Be ranked in the top one-third of the prospective high school graduating class.
Students must be enrolled in a college or university in the fall 2016/spring 2017 academic year in order to be nominated
for a TASSP during the current nomination cycle. For more information on specific requirements, please visit http://
www.hhloans.com and click on the “Texas Armed Services Scholarship Program (TASSP)” link.
“The TASSP scholarship is a way to recognize students with the courage, character and patriotism to dedicate themselves
to the service of our country.” said Rep. Bonnen. “It is an honor to nominate a deserving student from House District 24.”
If you would like to be considered for nomination by Rep. Bonnen for the TASSP, please email your resume, high school

Chaplain’s Message by Mary O. Blackwell
As summer approaches some of us look for-
ward to vacation, seeing family and spending
time with the kids. The streets seem a bit bare at
seven in the morning. It’s a time for making
memories and doing fun stuff.
Attendance at church reflects the absence of the
faithful. Aren’t you glad God does not take a
vacation? He is with you every moment of the
day and night. He cares about your needs, all
your needs.
Let us continue to faith-
fully and joyfully give of
our financial blessings be-
cause the church does not
close down during the
summer. God’s work must
go on.
God bless you.

Caring For America
Thank you everyone for your donations! Our May meeting will be the last meet-
ing where we will be accepting donations for our Spring Caring For America Project. We are
still accepting all items listed below. This project is making a double impact with not only Car-
ing For America, but with also with our Top Golf Fundraiser as well. The more items we have
to put together in baskets for the Silent Auction, the better!
I am also holding two workshops to help put together the baskets for
the Top Golf Fundraiser. The dates are May 17 and 19 from 6-8pm at Kari Long's residence: 853
Coastal Court, League City, Texas 77573. If you are interested, please let me know. I will provide snacks!
Lastly, we are looking for a few good women and men to help with delivering the items to Bay Harbour United
Methodist Church in League City on Tuesday, May 24, at 830 am. The pastor and congregation is so excited about
our project and what we are doing for this ministry! (Please insert list with the article that I have sent before.)
Literacy
Literacy Committee will continue to take both gently- used and new books and monetary donations for our Literacy
Project in September. Please bring those to the May Meeting. We will not have a meeting in June or July and our last meet-
ing for donations will be in August. Let's make this year's event even better than last years! Thank
you!
