Helping Individuals Reach Employment (HiRE)
HiRE is the Louisiana Workforce Commission’s self service system. This site can be ac-cessed at www.laworks.net. Once you register and become a member, you will have ac-cess to many online resources. Job seekers can search for a job, create a resume, find training providers and much more. If you need assistance with registration or have addi-tional questions, visit one of the locations listed in the brochure attached to this news-letter.
Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act (WIOA)
The WIOA is a federally funded, locally administered program designed to create an em-ployment and training system dedicated to improving the quality of employment services provided to employers and citizens of Northwest Louisiana. A state and local community partnership, WIOA provides its workforce development programs through Business and Career Solutions Centers. The Coordinating and Development Corporation (CDC) in con-junction with the Workforce Development Board (WDB), administers the Workforce Inno-vation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) program in Northwest Louisiana. Military Spouse Priority Placement Program
The following is the point of contact at civilian personnel for the Military Spouse Priority Placement Program (PPP). You must be listed on the Service Members’ PCS orders. You will need a detailed resume in word format with a local address. Be sure to include any volunteer work on your resume and bring an unofficial transcript if applicable. Send Ms. Sanders an email and she will schedule an appointment for you, tell you what documents to bring, and answer any questions you might have regarding the PPP. Have you heard about the MYCAA program ? It is open to spouses of service members on active duty in pay grades E-1 to E-5, W-1 to W-2, and O-1 to O-2 who can start and complete their coursework while their military sponsor is on Title 10 military orders, including spouses married to member of the National Guard and Reserve Components in these same pay grades. Stop in and visit the A&FRC resource room for local area schools partnering with MYCAA. During the month of January, the Spouse Education and Career Opportunities (SECO) program office will host several events that we would like to invite mili-tary spouses to attend. Please review the following information for more details about each event and for registration procedures to join the discussions.
