Term 1 Week 2 14th September, 2018
British International School of Cracow ul. Smoleńsk 25, 31-108 Kraków, Poland
Dear All,
We are in full swing now!The Polish MEN school
still requires a little fine-tuning and we kindly ask for
your patience and understanding with this. Each
student who follows the Polish National Curriculum
(MEN) has a timetable which must be individually
tailor-made and adjusted.
I have big request for all active PTA members
from last academic year, to nominate a Chairperson
for the current school year. The Parent-Teacher
Association is a fundamental organization at our
school, which puts the efforts and expectations of the
whole BISC community together. I and my
Management team are happy to support the newly
elected body from day one.
I would like to address your attention to the new
Library Daily Care procedures, to make sure all
children are safe and happy. Due to the increasing
number of pupils and the limited space available, we
are able to cater safely to only 20 pupils per day until
4pm. If you would like your child to stay in the library
until 4 pm, please sign up daily with Mr. Olaf, our
Librarian. We are also introducing a formal club run by
Ms. Blanka and Ms. Jowita for students to play, do
crafts and learn from 4.00 – 4.45pm. Thiswill cost
10PLN per day per family to provide materials for the
club. Please sign up for this after-school club with Mr.
Olaf, as they will only be able to cater for 15 students.
Please pick your children up at 4.45pm, as the school
closes at 5pm.
I hope that all of you and your children have
active Schoology accounts, since it will remain our
main channel of communication. In case of any doubts
or problems with accessing your Schoology account,
please contact Mr Josh Eddyson, our Schoology Expert
and ICT Teacher ( [email protected]) for
immediate support.
I am happy to inform you that our School
Pediatrician, Dr Justyna Michalczak, is at your service
every Tuesday from 13.00 to 15.00. In case you need
an appointment, please go to Ms Kasia in the School
office and book a date and time.
You may also contact directly Mr Jarek Ligęza,
our school Psychologist ([email protected]), in
order to arrange a meeting. He is available every
Monday and Wednesday from
15.00 till 16.45, but in case of
emergency you can call him on +48
608486494
I wish you a happy weekend.
Warmest regards,
Dr Stanisław Kwieciński

IB/SECONDARY NEWS

So our new IB subject, Sports, Exercise and Health Science has started with learning Anatomy. After getting to grips with the theory, it was time to put learning into practice. Students Alyssa and Taku did an excellent job of dissecting a chicken. Identifying bones, tendons, fascia and ligaments as well as joints was all in an afternoons work for our intrepid duo! Wish them luck as next week we'll be learning all the main muscles of the human body... Ms Asia Peplinska Head of science and subject teacher
A quick reminder that all Secondary students are asked to wear their house colour on Friday! If students are not sure about what house they belong to please ask Ms Asia. In the meantime they are asked to wear either white or blue. School t-shirts can be bought in the office. Students will be encouraged to wear their t-shirts on field trips and during sports competitions.
Seongyun and Ernest came to school and showed their appreciation to teachers for their hard work. They brought flowers to all the Secondary teachers. They are now studying A levels. Sarah paid us a visit this week: she is studying in Milan. We also heard that Ida and Sandra are doing well in Milan.
It was an opportunity for IB1 Business students to learn about the syllabus and IB approaches to learning and teaching as well as the impact of the IB diploma on their future lives. It is also good for students to hear other students' experience.
