The move from Thanksgiving toward Christmas is one that has long been a puz- zle to me. Not a puzzle in a negative sense, but in the sense that I have often won- dered how the two can and should go together. Our family is like yours, I am sure, in that we have traditions associated with Thanksgiving and Christmas. There are family meals and time together. There are decorations and activities. Sometimes it feels as though we can rush through Thanksgiving just to get Christmas started. But how can the move from one to the other be more meaningful? That is what is puzzling to me. It seems that we need Thanksgiving before moving into the season of Christmas. We need to come into the season with gratitude and thanksgiving for it is these aspects of life that open the door of our hearts to enter Christmas with humility. In humility we see our need for Christmas. In humility we confess our desperation for the savior. Gratitude and thanksgiving cause us to turn our hearts and lives toward God as the giver of life. Christmas calls us to bow before God who has wrapped Himself in flesh to give abundant life. The humility of the incarnation should cause us to bow, take note, and give thanks unto God for the incredible gift of Christ Jesus. Undoubtedly, the Christmas season is full of parties, gatherings, functions, and run- ning here and there. May we not forget in the midst of it all to give thanks, to come to Christmas with humble gratitude and thanksgiving. If we carry thanksgiving into Christmas, we will find ourselves with the shepherds and the kings bowing in worship unto the one who has poured Himself out that we may have life. Ronna, Annlyn, Eva, Caulder, and I are deeply grateful for you, our Viewmont family, and thank God for the journey of faith we share together as we seek to follow Christ. From Our Pastor . . . The move from Thanksgiving toward Christmas is one that has long been a puz-zle to me. Not a puzzle in a negative sense, but in the sense that I have often won-dered how the two can and should go together.

Undoubtedly, the Christmas season is full of parties, gatherings, functions, and run-ning here and there.

We wish each of you a very Merry Christmas and love you all very much!

Grateful…Andrew
