1O N LY T H O S E W H O A R E FA S C I N AT E D B Y L I G H TWILL STUDY LIGHT.I t a l l started with a f lame, a f l ickering l ight and an inspirat ion. The German entrepreneur Sal ly Windmüller founded the Westfäl ische Metal l- Industr ie Akt ien-Gesel lschaft (The Westphal ian Metal Industry Company) on June 11, 1899. At that t ime, the product range consisted pr imari ly of bulb horns, candles and kerosene lamps for carr iages. This, however, d id not sat isfy the strategic v is ion of the young vis ionary. Fascinated by l ight and dr iven by the passion of innovat ion, within a t ime span of just ten years, he introduced the “System HELLA“ acetylene headlamp, which completely revolutionized the automotive world. The magnitude of the leap can only be understood by the fact that in comparison to standard candles and kerosene lamps, the l ight ing effect of this headlamp was f i f ty t imes br ighter, thus kickstart ing the beginning of an era.

Laser diodes and high-power LEDs are space-saving elements with the added benef i t of producing an explosion of concentrated l ight intensity .
