Join the T.E.A.M.!

The Courses All courses for the Tulsa Engineering Academy @ Memorial are offered on campus at Memorial High School with highly qualified instructors.

T.E.A.M. students take a rigorous combination of classes, including a minimum of 1 science and 1 math class every year. These classes must be designated accelerated courses in math and science.

Advanced Placement (AP): Calculus AB & BC, Statistics, Physics B & C, Biology, Chemistry, & Environmental Science.

AP Prep: Geometry, Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, Physics, Biology, and Chemistry.

Memorial also offers a full spectrum of AP and Pre-AP courses in English, Social Studies, and electives.

The T.E.A.M. engineering courses use the nationally recognized curriculum from Project Lead the Way (PLTW). Students take Introduction to Engineering Design, Digital Electronics and Principles of Engineering and may opt to substitute Engineering Robotics for 2 of the PLTW classes.

Academy students take a minimum of two years of a foreign language and are able to pursue an additional interest, including Memorial’s award-winning programs in JROTC, band, choir, and athletics.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How many years are students in the Academy?

A: Students can enter from 9th through 11th grade, and then continue through graduation.

Q: Is this part of the Advanced Placement program?

A: Yes and No. This program is not part of the College Board which sponsors the Advanced Placement program. However, students take many Advanced Placement courses as part of the Academy curriculum.

Q: How does this program compare to other pre-engineering programs offered in the Tulsa area?

A: All classes are offered on the Memorial campus. We believe we offer more flexibility for students and that we have the best program for competing in a variety of local and national engineering competitions.

Q: I don’t know for sure that I want to be an engineer. Should I take part in this program?

A: Yes! Because of the rigorous classes you take, including additional years of math and science, you will be well prepared for college, regardless of the major you choose. Many different fields require the knowledge and skills you will obtain through the program. But the best part is that these classes are fun, interesting, and interactive.

Q: I’m interested. Now what do I do? A: Complete an Engineering Academy

Application, which are available online. If you live outside the Memorial district, you must also complete a TPS transfer request, indicating the Engineering Academy as the reason for the transfer. Transfer request forms are available at most schools and the Education Service Center.

Q: What are the prerequisites for

admission? A: We look for students with a desire to

learn, have at least a 3.0 GPA for their math, science, and technology classes, and a 2.5 GPA overall.

Q: Do I have to join the robotics team if I join T.E.A.M.?

A: No, the Circuit Chargers Robotics Team is an elective activity and not required for Academy members. Robotics competitions provide students the opportunity to apply concepts they learn in other classes. The Circuit Chargers Robotics Team has won more awards than any other robotics team in Oklahoma and participation looks great on college and scholarship applications.
