OVERFLOW DEVICEThe water inlet solenoid valve (see Fig. 13) is equippedwith an overflow device which mechanically stops thewater inlet if there is a malfunction in the solenoid valve orin the boiler water level control device.To restore normal operation, proceed as follows:

- drain the water contained in the overflow hose;

- shut off the water supply using the tap outside themachine;

- loosen the nut which secures the solenoid valve supplyhose to relieve the water mains residual pressure andthen tighten again (see Fig. 13);

- open the tap and switch the machine on.

CONNECTING THE MACHINETO THE POWER SUPPLY

The machine is designed to operate under a single-phase230 V~ voltage and is protected by 10 A fuses.Before making the connection, ensure that the ratingcorresponds to that of the power grid, and more specifi-cally:

- the supply voltage rating must be within the rangerecommended for the connection points;

- the main switch should be capable of withstanding thepeak load required, and at the same time ensureproper omnipolar disconnection from the power gridwith an opening gap of the contacts of at least 3 mm.

The switch, the power outlet and the plug must belocated in an easily accessible position.The power supply cable is of the type with a fixed plug. Anyreplacement of the power cable (see Fig. 14) should bemade by qualified and suitably trained personnel only usingcables type HO5 RN - F or HO5 V V-F or H07 RN-F with a3x1-1.5 mm2 section.The electrical safety of the machine is ensured only whenit is correctly earthed according to the safety standards inforce.

This fundamental safety requirement must be dulyverified, and if in doubt the system must be carefullytested by qualified technicians.

Do not use adapters, multiple sockets and/or exten-sions.Before switching the machine on, be sure it is correctlyconnected to the water mains and the cut-off valve is open.

THE MANUFACTURER DECLINES ALL RESPONSI-BILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE CAUSED BY NON-COM-PLIANCE WITH THE ABOVE MENTIONED SAFETYRULES.Fig. 13

OPERATION

CAPSULE DISPENSER

The capsule dispenser allows loading of capsules in acasual manner since it can automatically turn them,straighten them and bring them into the release position.The dispenser is composed of two parts:

- the capsule orientation and drive system;

- the capsule detection and release system.

ORIENTATION SYSTEMThe system, as well as the container, is composed of amotor that can rotate in both directions.The motor drives the selection disk by means of anintermittence system and at the same time operates theagitator by means of a drive pin.When the capsules are moved by the agitator the arepositioned sidewise in the separator ring.The selector disk has six cells with the seat for the capsuleedge positioned alternated inside and outside.When a capsule coincides with the shape in the selectorring it is loaded into the cell.The device continues rotating until a capsule falls in thepositioning chamber.If after a few loading attempts the presence of the capsuleis not detected, the agitator’s rotation is inverted and thecycle repeated.The rotation direction is inverted also after a few cycles inthe same direction to facilitate the even positioning of thecapsules.The rotation inversion to search capsules is performed afew times, after which the coffee-based selections areblocked for a “No coffee” failure.During this time, if a coffee-based selection is made themessage “Wait please” is displayed.If for any reason the motor does not complete the rotationwithin a certain time, the rotation is inverted; if also thisattempt fails, the coffee-based selection are blocked witha “Capsule lock” failure.

DETECTION AND RELEASE SYSTEM

When a capsule falls into the positioning chamber it isplaced vertically onto the release levers thanks to thespecial shape of the chutes and of the stabiliser guides.The capsule detection lever signals to the machine, bymeans of a photocell, to stop the search in the orientationsystem.At the first loading (release device empty) the search in theorientation system will continue for positioning the secondcapsule. If necessary the capsule should be positionedmanually.When the machine is switched on, the capsule search isstarted automatically.

During the machine normal operation there must alwaysbe two capsules into release position.If after releasing the capsule this is still detected in thepositioning chamber, the brewer unit is rotated to eject thecapsule and a second release attempt is made. If thecapsule is still detected, the coffee-based selections areblocked with a “Coffee release” failure.

COFFEE DISPENSING CYCLE

When a coffee-based selection is made a capsule isreleased into the brewing chamber, that when in stand-byposition is vertical (see Fig. 16).The ratiomotor handle rotates 180°, making the brewchamber swing and lowering the upper piston (see Fig.17).The lock lever is positioned into the seat, stopping thepiston pressure from making the mechanism move back.Due to the water pressure, the hydraulic piston is lowereduntil it seals onto the capsule edge and the brewing pistonpierces the protective film.

When the dispensing solenoid valve opens, water reachesthe ground coffee through the pierced protective film.The water pressure pushes the concave bottom of thecapsule against the piercing filter.The conical needles of the piercing filter pierce the bottomof the capsule, permitting the brewing of coffee and retain-ing the ground coffee inside the capsule.

At the end of dispensing, the water inside the capsule flowsout through the 3rd way of the dispensing solenoid valveand the bottom of the capsule resumes its concave shape.The hydraulic piston is released and returns to the stand-by position.The ratiomotor rotation continues, lifting the piston and thelower ejector.At the same time, when the brewing chamber returns to itsvertical position, the ejection levers push the used capsuleand drops it.The lower ejector returns to the rest position.

Important notice!!

Access to the machine interior for maintenance and/orrepairs is via the back panel.Therefore the machine is designed to be rotated, thusallowing removal of the back panel.

The integrity of the machine and compliance with thestandards of the relevant systems must be checked atleast once a year by qualified personnel.

Before starting any maintenance operations requiringparts of the unit to be removed, the machine mustalways be switched off.

The operations described below must be carried outonly by personnel who have the specific knowledge ofthe machine functioning from a point of view of elec-trical safety and health regulations.

INTRODUCTION

To ensure correct operation for a long period, the machinemust be subjected to regular maintenance.The following sections contain the procedures and themaintenance schedule, which are only a general indica-tion, as they greatly depend on the operating conditions(e.g. water hardness, environmental humidity and tem-perature, type of product used, etc.).The procedures described in this chapter are not exhaus-tive of all maintenance operations to be carried out.More complex operations (e.g. boiler descaling) should becarried out by qualified technicians only having specificknowledge of the machine. To prevent oxidation or the action of chemical agents, thestainless steel and varnished surfaces should be keptclean by using mild detergents (solvents must not beused).

Under no circumstances should water jets be used toclean the machine.

BREWER UNIT MAINTENANCE

The piercing filter must be replaced every 4000 selections.In any case it will be necessary to disassemble and sanitisethe upper filter, the piercing filter and the brewing chamberat least every 6 months.Maintenance is carried out as follows:

- remove the teflon hose from the upper piston, connectedto the boiler and to the tube for hydraulic control of thepiston, paying undoing the colour rings (see Fig. 23);

- undo the knob securing the unit to the bracket and removethe coffee unit;
