TheOracleDatabase11gSoftware(11.2.0.3).LINKTheOracleGridInfrastructure11gSoftware(11.2.0.3).LINKTheOracleLinux6.3x86_64installationCD/ISO.LINKAVirtualMachine/Serverwithx86_64support

Note:YouwillneedyourOTNlogininordertodownloadtheproducts.Ifyoudonthaveone,goaheadandregister.

IamgoingtouseOracleVirtualBoxtosetupthelab.HerearethedetailsfortheVM.

Name:oralab1RAM:3.5GBHostname:oralab1.localdomainIp:192.168.10.151/255.255.255.0gw192.168.10.1Nics:1bridgedadapterDisks:1*54GB,3*9GB

Wearegoingtomaketheinstallationinthefollowingorder.

Whentheoperatingsystemreboots,youwillneedtocompletethesetupasfollows

Selectyourtimetocontinue



ClickFinnish



Nowyouwillneedtologinusingtherootuser.ThisisbecausetheoracleusercreatedbytheOraclePreinstallpackagedoesnothavepassword.Logonandsetitup



Disablethefirewall.GogoSystem/Administration/Firewall



Dependingonyourenvironmentedityournetworkinterfaceasfollows.



Edityourhostsfilehostsfilewithyourhostnameandip.



Reloadyournetworkasfollows

Installyourvirtualboxguestadditions.ThiswillnotbenecessaryifyoureonaphysicalserverorVmWare.



Createthenecessarydirectoriesandthegriduser.

Setthenecessarypermissions



Editthefile/home/grid/.bash_profileandaddthefollowinglinestosetupthegriduserenvironment

Editthefile/home/oracle/.bash_profileandaddthefollowinglinestosetuptheoracleuserenvironment



ShutdownyoursystemandaddthenecessarydiskstobeusedasASMdisks.InthiscaseIllcreated3disks

StartupyousystemandconfigureyouASMdriverastherootuser



Checkifyourdisksareavailable

Itstimetosetupthedisks.Asyousawinthepreviousscreenshot,ihavethreeadditionaldisksnamed(/dev/sdb,/dev/sdc,/dev/sdd)weneedtopartitioneachdisksinordertomakethemavailableforASM.Wewillusefdisktopartitionthem,hereistheorderyoullhavetofollow.

Skipthesoftwareupdates

Selecttheoptionforastandaloneserverasshowninthepicture



Selectyoulanguages

CreateonediskgroupcalledDATAwithdisks(DISK1,DISK2)withexternalredundancyashown.



Specifyapasswordforsysandasmsnmpaccounts

Leavethedefaultgroupsandcontinue



ChoosethepathstodeORACLE_BASEandORACLE_HOME

Note:11.0.3inthepath,shouldbe11.2.3ifyoufollowOFAoryoucanchoosewhateveryouwantinyourORACLE_HOMEpath

Specifyforinventory



Nexttheinstallerwillperformacheckonyourserverasshown

Iftheinstallerfindsthatsomethingisnotrightwithyourserver,itwilltellyoutorunsomefixupscripts.Run

Inordertoprepareforthe1z0058youmusthaveagoodunderstandingofADVMandACFS.Bytheway,imworkinginatutorialtomakeacoldfailoversingleinstancedatabase.Wellmakeuseofsomeofthat.

Changingtheowneroftheinventorywillnotcauseanyproblemstotheexistinginstallation.youcoulddoitwithchownoracle:oinstall.Beforedoingthatmakesurethatoracleispartofthedba/oinstallgroup.Itsstrangethatyouarefacingthatissueifyouchangedtheownershiptogrid:oinstallwheninstallingtheclusterware.

OracleGridControlisadifferentproductthatneedstobeinstalledonitsown.Itiseasetoconfuseitwithdatabasecontrolbecausetheinterfaceisverysimilar(versions10g&11g)butisnotthesamething.

DBAsusuallycallGRID,CRSandClusterwaretotheASM+Clusterwarecomponentofthe
