Civil Engineers: Shaping the World ICE Inspire Judging Criteria 1.1 Please refer to the Terms and Conditions of Entry for further details. 1.2 Any teams not adhering to the terms and conditions may be disqualified. 1.3 Entries will be judged in accordance with the criteria in the table below by a judging panel formed from local industry representatives and ICE staff. 1.4 Each criterion will be marked out of 10 and a total score awarded. 1.4 The percentage in brackets indicates the weighting of the category towards the final score. 1.5 The panel of judges will make the final decision. Poster and Video Criteria Description 1 . Research and Background (30%) Quality and amount of research and background information included and displayed. Judges will be looking for understanding of the various branches of Civil Engineering and the impact civil engineering has on everyday life. The best submissions will display a thorough understanding of what civil engineering is. Higher marks awarded for evidence that every team member has had a meaningful contribution. 2 . Originality and Creativity (20%) Original and creative ideas to produce an attractive and interesting submission. Higher marks awarded for original ideas 1

1. Research and Background(30%)

Quality and amount of research and background information included and displayed.

Judges will be looking for understanding of the various branches of Civil Engineering and the impact civil engineering has on everyday life. The best submissions will display a thorough understanding of what civil engineering is.

Higher marks awarded for evidence that every team member has had a meaningful contribution.

2. Originality and Creativity(20%)

Original and creative ideas to produce an attractive and interesting submission.

Higher marks awarded for original ideas which promote careers in civil engineering in a new or innovative way.

3. Communication and Quality of Information(5%)

Clarity of message and accuracy of content.

Submission must be specific to civil engineering and clearly communicate what civil engineering is.

Higher marks awarded for clear communication of the key message of the advert. Accuracy and quality of the information presented with minimal mistakes in grammar or spelling.

Ability of the advert to inspire young people to consider a career in civil engineering.
