Report for the Month of November 2018
1. Central Office
Capital works
(a) During the month of November, 2018 tenders were invited to undertake the following capital
works of minor nature by Kalakshetra Foundation—
(i) Re-surfacing of bitumen approach road to Bharata Kalakshetra Auditorium
(ii) Laying of paver-block pathway from Central Office to Bharata Kalakshetra
Auditorium
(iii) Repair works to one of the staff quarters
(iv) Reconstruction of collapsed compound wall near to the hostel
(b) A fresh tender was also called for provision of security services in replacement of the existing
agency.
(c) The following capital works entrusted to CPWD have been completed during the month—
(i) Shed behind Director’s Office
(ii) Toilet block for the Central Office
(d) The renovation work of Bharata Kalakshetra Auditorium is progressing well and it is likely to
be completed in the month of December 2019.
2. Rukmini Devi College of Fine Arts
Combined sports meet was held for the College and the two Schools
Based on the request received from the organizations and individual artists
RDCFA issued recommendation letters for salary grant and production grant.
In connection with the Karthigai Somavaram – concerts by staff and students of
Kalakshetra was held at Sri Marundeeswarar Temple on 19.11.2018 &
26.11.2018.

Kalakshetra Foundation has conducted its monthly program on 28th & 29th November 2018 to
showcase and promote promising talents in Classical Music and Dance. Two performances were
conducted as under—
(a) 28th November, 2018 - Vilasini Natyam by Kum. Purvadhanashree
(b) 29th November, 2018 - Gottuvadyam concert by Shri. Allam Durgaprasad
6. Repertory
‘Rukmini Kalayanam’ dance drama for World Telugu Federation at Coimbatore on 18th
November, 2018
Kalakshetra Foundation has performed Bharatanatyam dance drama ‘Rukmini Kalayanam’ for
World Telugu Foundation at Coimbatore on 18th November 2018 as part of its 25th Annual
Conference. An amount of Rs. 1,50,000/- was received as remuneration.
6. Outreach
(i) Kalakshetra Foundation’s new website his being updated further with new photos.
Link is for internal purpose only, website not yet launched.
(ii) Aanmajothi corporation dance classes are being conducted in 7 schools
regularly.
(iii) Kalakshetra Foundation in association with Aanmajothi conducted ‘Kala Samvridhi’-
Music and Dance program at Narada Gana Sabha,Chennai on 30th November 2018.
The following alumni of KF were showcased during the event—
(a) Flute by Sujith S Naik and (b) Dance by James Janet
(iv) Kalakshetra’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram account updated.

7. Besant Arundale Senior Secondary School
(i) On 1st November 2018 Vigilance Awareness week was celebrated. Songs and plays on
anti-corruption were staged.
(ii) On 14th November 2018 Children’s Day was celebrated. Dr. Abdul Fazal acupressure
specialist addressed the students. A film show on Jawaharlal Nehru was screened for
children.
(iii) On 20th November 2018 Combined Sports Meet was conducted
(iv) On November 26th, a fancy dress parade was conducted for students of class I and II as
a part of 150 years of Mahatma Gandhi.
8. Besant Theosophical Higher Secondary School
(i) On 20th November 2018 Combined Sports Meet was conducted
(ii) On 26th November 2018 - Interview was conducted for selection to one post of Music
Teacher
(iii) On 27th November 2018 - Awareness program was conducted regarding Seasonal flu
and traditional medicine Nilavembu Kashayam was given to all the students.
Violin Wise
A unique project named Violin Wise was conducted by the of Lalgudi Trust as a
collaborative programme with Kalakshetra Foundation from 12 to 26 November 2018. The
Foundation was the venue partner. The workshop was conducted by Mr James Wimmer a Luthier
from Santa Barbara, USA. Many craftsmen including Instrument Mechanic and students from
Kalakshetra Foundation took part in the workshop and immensely benefitted from it.
