If less than one year, mark 00.3. Education must be noted, considering the highest grade-level passed of the highest level of education reached.4. Always ask the questions of coverage located at the end of the first page of the Household Registration Card.5. BASIC CONCEPTS

REGULAR RESIDENCEA person’s regular residence is considered the dwelling where he or she sleeps for the majority of the week (i.e., four or more days) and/or where the person has stayed or has the intention to stay for at least two months. Generally, it is possible to determine a person’s regular residence by asking the question, “Where do you live?”.

MEMBERS OF THE HOUSEHOLD INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING PERSONS- Persons whose regular residence is the household- Persons who are temporarily in the household and do not have a regular residence elsewhere- Persons who work in domestic service and live at their place of work (live-in domestic service)- Persons who regularly reside in the household, but are absent because of work, business, or vacation, or for sickness that

requires hospitalization, or for other reasons provided that the absence is less than two months and provided that, in addi-tion, the person has the dwelling being surveyed as a regular residence, except for exceptional cases noted in the manual

- Foreigners who work or study in the country and that have resided in the dwelling, or have the intention to reside there for at least two months

- Persons who stay outside of the household for the majority of the week because of work, but regularly return and do not have a regular residence elsewhere: This is the case for bus drivers of interprovincial routes, truck drivers, traveling sales workers, and other related jobs, except for cases considered exceptional in the manual.

- Persons who for reasons of work (shifts), must reside in encampments or collective housing, who periodically return to the dwelling for several days, the same household from which they left to work, provided that the periods of absence do not exceed two months

- Persons who are doing their military service and who do NOT regularly reside in their quarters- Boarding school students and students who study and reside outside the family residence, during summer vacation period

THE FOLLOWING PERSONS ARE NOT CONSIDERED HOUSEHOLD MEMBERS- Persons who are temporarily in the dwelling and have a regular residence elsewhere, provided that their stay (and their

intention to stay) is for less than two months in the dwelling where the interview takes place- Boarding school students and students who study and reside outside of the family residence, during winter vacation, or

during excused absences or sick leave- Members of the armed forces who are on vacation or granted leave, who usually live-in their quarters- Persons who work in domestic service as a “live-out” worker
