authority for collecting information

to produce official statistics

concerning Balance of Payments;

• 2013 – Migration from BPM5

Methodology to BPM6 and the

data are compiled and published

according to BPM6 since Q2 2014.

• And we have also started Coordinated

Direct Investment Survey (CDIS) aiming to

provide reliable and up-to-date information

on direct investment in Mozambique and

other assets and liabilities with the rest of

the world.

We don’t produce statistics of the

quantities yet, because this variable is

still collected in a inconsistent way,

that is, the volumes are not consistent

world some companies are not

required by law to declare

commercial transactions with

outside, so to capture the

information, Mozambique uses

second source of information

• Although the Mega Projects present

few items, they have more than half

the volume of transactions/trade in

the country.

• This information is collected trough

Bank of Mozambique and it is based

on quarterly corporate balance

sheets then they don’t provide at all

details needed to meet the needs of

the External Trade Statistics

foreign trade statistics, although it

is still not enough .

• Automation of the routines of

production process of the FTS

using SPSS.

• Creation of a team work group

constituted by Statistics Office,

Central Bank, Customs officer and

Ministry of Industry and Commerce,

to improve the quality of the Foreign

Trade Statistics.

collection information system,

replacing TIMS application for a new

online system JUE (one windows

system)

• Informal cross border trade:

- we made a preliminary study at the

borders to evaluate the flow of the informal

trade

- through this study we found out what king

of merchandize are mostly traded ...

- we have started with a pilot survey.





• The Central Bank is intending to

separate the transactions of BOP in

two ways:

-BOP for Mega-Projects; and

-BOP without Mega-Projects
