The Slingbox

Use your computer to control the satellite and other video devices

What is a Slingbox? The Slingbox gives people the ability to control any Audio/Video device including analog cable, a digital cable box, satellite receiver, digital video recorder (DVR) a DVD player or even a still video camera. The SlingPlayer applications are fully compatible with all Slingboxes sold today.

How to Operate the Slingbox a) Launch the Slingbox by double-clicking the icon on your desktop.

b) The next step asks you for which device do you want to control. A list of choices are given. For example, if you want to use the satellite, you would move your mouse over the option labeled Ch. 79 Satellite and left-click on it. This will highlight your choice in a grey box. Then move your mouse over to the right where it says Watch and left-click on the option. See figure below.

c) When the program launches, you should be taken to step d. If the program asks you for a password, type in SUNCHILD. Go to step d.

d) You will be now connected to the audio / visual device that you want to use

Slingbox Controls

Note:

• To use the remote control, move your cursor over the appropriate buttons and left-click to select the button.

• To increase / decrease the volume on the TV, you must use the control buttons located on the TV. The volume control on the screen is only used for computers with sound.

• Make sure that you are on the correct channel for the unit that you are using. • Once you are connected to a device, no other teacher can connect to it. When you

are done, exit out of the program (move the cursor to the Player selection at the top of the screen and choose Exit). This will allow other teachers to access the device when you are not using it.

Power on / off button

Volume Control (only works for sound through the computer / not on the TV’s in the classroom).

Display / hide remote control (allows you to control the unit through a displayed remote control – one is shown on the left)

Mute button (only for the computer).
