INSTALLATION/OPERATINGINSTRUCTIONS FOR THE
GREENBROOK SMOKE ALARM
MODEL NUMBER: ASIM
Thank you for purchasing a SmokeAlarm from GreenBrook Electrical. This alarm must be installed by aqualified electrician, using thefollowing installation instructions.
KEEP THESEINSTRUCTIONS SAFE
FOR FUTURE REFERENCE
ALARM FEATURESIonization smoke alarms are generallymore effective at detecting flaming fireswhich consume combustible materialsrapidly and spread quickly. Sources of thesefires may include paper burning in a wastepaper or rubbish bin or a grease fire in thekitchen.
• AC/DC operated Ionization type smokealarm
• Ionization sensor for fast flaming fires• Insect proof• High and stable sensitivity sensor• Quick fix mounting bracket and simple
AC connector for simple installation.• Fitting and battery tamper-resist feature• Inter-connectable with up to 40 units• Self test button• Alarm and AC power-on LED indicators• Smoke alarm will automatically re-set
when smoke clears.
1. This smoke alarm requires constant220-240V AC 50Hz mains powersupply to operate properly. Backup 9VDC battery will offer additional protectionin the event of a power failure. Thissmoke alarm WILL NOT work if ACpower is not connected or has failedor been interrupted for any reason,AND if the backup battery is removed, drained or improperly connected, thealarm will not work during a powerfailure. DO NOT use any other kind ofbattery except as specified.
2. The push-to-test button accuratelytests all smoke alarm functions. DONOT use any other test method. Testthe alarm weekly to ensure properoperation.
3. This alarm should be installed bya qualified electrician in accordancewith the current wiring regulations.
4. This alarm is designed to be usedinside a single family building only. Inmulti-family buildings, each individualliving unit should have its own alarm.DONOT install in non-residentialbuildings or places which house manypeople like hotels, motels, dormitories, hospitals, nursing homes or grouphomes. This alarm is not a substitutefor a complete alarm system.
5. Install an alarm in every room and onevery level of the home. Smoke maynot reach the smoke alarm for manyreasons. For example, if a fire starts ina remote part of the home, on anotherlevel, in a chimney, wall, roof or on theother side of a closed door, smokemay not reach the smoke alarm intime to alert household members. Asmoke alarm will not promptly detecta fire except in the area in which it isinstalled.
6. Smoke alarms may not alert everyhousehold member every time. Thealarm sound of the alarm is loud inorder to alert individuals of a potentialdanger. However, there may be limitingcircumstances where a householdmember may not hear the alarm (i.e.outdoor or indoor noise, sound sleepers, the hard of hearing, etc.)
7. Household members must hear thealarm’s warning sound and quicklyrespond to it, to reduce the risk ofdamage, injury or death that mayresult from a fire. If a householdmember is hard of hearing, installspecial smoke alarms with lights orvibrating devices to alert occupants.
8. Smoke alarms can only sound theiralarms when they detect smoke.Smoke alarms detect combustionparticles in the air. They do not senseheat, flames or gas. This smoke alarmis designed to give audible warning ofa developing fire. However many firesare fast-burning, explosive or intentional.Others are caused by carelessness orsafety hazards. Smoke may not reachthe smoke alarm QUICKLY ENOUGHto ensure safe escape.
9. Smoke alarms have limitations. Thissmoke alarm is not foolproof and is
